I didn't think the Park Hotel was nearly as bad as some of the reviews suggest. The service at the front desk was slow, but friendly. I got a free upgrade to a room with a tub (instead of a shower only), and I was not charged an "energy fee". Yes, this is an old hotel, and yes, it has not been restored to 4-star quality. If you can't appreciate an older property's charm, you should go stay in a cookie-cutter chain hotel. I would suggest the hotel install better window coverings (the venetian blinds really are cheap)... but in the meantime, just make sure you don't stay in a room with a bright street light outside. There is one very bright street light in front of the hotel which would probably cause problems for people inside -- it also ruins any picture you might want to take of the hotel at night. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable, the room was reasonably priced (given the great location), and everything was clean.
