“An opinion and tips from a repeat customer..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We have stayed at the Park a few times now and we are always happy there. The exterior of the hotel and interior (lobby, restaurant, and halls) are very unique with original décor and lots of photo ops for you camera enthusiasts. The rooms are simple and dated - but clean and comfortable. You should try to reserve a king bed room - almost twice the size of a queen bed room. Our last room was a King (room 206) and it was huge. Also had a couch and a mini fridge. The location is great. My husband and I love going to the Ohio Club which is a short walk, and the Pancake Shop (great breakfast!) On our latest stay we ate dinner at their restaurant located in the lobby, Angels in the Park. Very good! I had the chicken portobello ravioli in pesto sauce and chocolate creme brulee, and my husband had the fish and risotto. Not huge portions - but they were satisfying.
The desk clerk, Chiquita, was very accommodating and professional!!
The temperature of the rooms are centrally controlled and there are no ceiling fans (would be a good addition by the way...). But so far, we have been satisfied with the temp of our rooms. If you stay during the winter months, it may be a little cool. Be sure to bring some warm PJ's.
Just REMEMBER - this is an OLD hotel. Do not expect the Ritz! But it is quiet and charming. The staff is accommodating. Its in a great location. And its always CLEAN! A TV in every room, but no coffee pot. They offer free coffee in the lobby and also coffee cake in the mornings. No hair dryers in the rooms, but you can borrow one from the front desk. There is also a museum on the first floor and a wet bar. Just a neat hotel!!

We booked this hotel because it was race season and every hotel in town was either sold out or had a two night minimum. We got the last six rooms in the hotel including a small suite and the honeymoon suite. Yes, the hotel is old, 1930's and yes it does show it's age but after a day at the track it was nice to be able to take a shuttle back to the hotel and walk to restaurants and bars on Central Avenue without having to drive. After a great dinner at Angel's and some drinks at the Ohio club, who cares. The bed was comfortable, the room was warm, the tv worked and there was plenty of hot water. There's a very nice bar in the lobby and if you hang out there long enough you can almost see Owney Madden walking through the front doors. Will I stay there again? Why not! We had a great time!

Room Tip: Get a suite it's worth the extra cash!

This is an old hotel. The furniture is old and the rooms are not modern. We love hotels like this and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you like the Arlington, you will like the Park Hotel. Yes, there is a $9 "energy" charge. Don't know why, just consider the room is $9 more than the price you are quoted. They don't have the parking lot fixed up yet and there is some construction going on. Be sure to get your 20% coupon for the Italian restaurant in the building. If you love old hotels with character, you will enjoy staying here. If you have to have the new furniture, big TV and all the other trappings of the chain hotels, there are several out near the lake.

We were staying at the Arlington and came here for dinner. Before we went in, we had a fascinating chat with the charming Dennis, who has a Civil War memorabilia shop off the lobby--he has jillions of books and many collectibles and is a fount of knowledge about the war and Hot Springs. We did look at hotel rooms and they were very clean, but did have a strong disinfectant smell and 1960's furniture. We then went to dinner, and parts of the restaurant are cool old art deco, but these are combined with ugly updated angel stuff. But the waitress was great and my dinner was delicious! I will definitely go back for the food.

Outside of building dated as to be expected! Went in to find the lobby and bar did not appear too bad! We then stepped into the elevator and I noticed the smell of odor neutralizer, which became stronger and stronger as we made our way down the hallway to our room! Once in the room the smell of "odor ban" was so bad we couldn't breathe and our eyes/noses were burning! Everything in the room was very dated and in extremely poor condition!!!! The room was dirty and the smell was too much! Polish on the furniture was gone, no coffee pot, couldve got a better tv at the thrift store for free, towels were hard/small, bathrooms were terrible, and parking lot was very sketchy!!! Within 15 minutes (14 of which I spent on hold with Expedia) we had made our way back downstairs with suitcase to complain and check out!! The manager and staff were unwilling to make any exceptions to a 100% payment of 2 nights, even when I offered to pay a cancellation fee! I was also told by staff that odor ban is what they use to clean and that I would find this used in every hotel! I know odor ban neutralizes odor and does not kill bacteria! I booked this awful hotel on Expedia and would never recommend using their site unless you know EVERY detail of the destination!!! I've recommended Hotel Hell tape an episode here! Also I feel for any bride who's stumbled across their website and found their wedding link!!!

We spend a lot of nights in hotels throughout the world - but I have never been asked to pay an Energy Charge as a seperate item before. The hotel is old, very dated and appears to be run on a 'shoe string' - we did read reviews before booking - so no excuse.
But like others we did wish that we had not booked the "Park Hotel"

We booked this hotel in August for a stay on November 19 based on Internet information. The cancellation policy is 48 hours prior to stay, which didn't seem to be a problem when it was booked - sight unseen. When we arrived, the hotel was totally unacceptable - not well maintained and parking, although close and free, seemed much less than secure - so we did not stay. We were billed anyway.
