This place smells, there is no air conditioner, there is 1 ice machine on the 1st floor, the "fan" in the room only works on 1 speed and that send smelly air all through the room. Trying to get my money back has been a nightmare. Not 1 person there knows what is going on and can or will help with the process. I wanted a nice long weekend of peace from a crappy week at home and it took me 3 steps into the hotel to know that this was a bad choice. I had not seen this site to check it out or I assure all of you that I would have moved on quickly. Just because it is a Historic hotel does not mean it needs to be an smelly, moldy, only updated and nice in the lobby. Staying down on the other end of town by the lake was awesome and much more quiet.

This was my second stay here. I love the location but I knew they were doing renovations our first stay so we decided to give it a second chance. Everything still looked the same & they leave a lot to be desired.

Our reservation had been lost so it took almost am hour to get checked in.

The bathroom had been cleaned but the bathtub had not been cleaned properly. There was water stains in the corner of the room & the carpeting is kinda gross.

This hotel has lots of potential, but was disappointing at almost every turn. 

The lobby is welcoming, but then you notice a dirty, stained towel and huge plastic bin (with about 4 or 5" of water) catching leaking water from the ceiling above. Both never mived the entire weekend. Gross! 

The staff at the front desk were friendly, but I didn't get the sense they'd go above and beyond for requests out of the ordinary. For example, we were using their conference room for a meeting and asked for ice two hours prior to the meeting and for the dirty floors to be vacuumed. The desk clerk couldn't guarantee she could make that happen...no one ever came. We did both ourselves. We had paid $500 to use the room all weekend...we didn't think it was too much to ask!

The rooms were average and acceptable. It was mostly clean, but areas like doors and light switches felt grimy. Carpets were stained. Bed was comfortable and linens were nice. Hot water turned scalding when toilets were flushed in adjacent rooms. 

The pool area was nice. Pool was a great size and water was clean. But, just over a brick wall separating the pool from the main hotel was a plunger, brooms, and a ladder that looked like it was just thrown there and hundreds of boxes of flooring tile in view. Strange and made it feel dirty. 

The conference room we used needs some serious updating like the rest of the hotel. We had guests who had brown water drip on them from the ceiling on several occasions during dinner, we saw multiple (alive) cockroaches, and the prep kitchen we had access to was so dirty and had a rotting watermelon inside the refrigerator. No one ever came to help change linens or empty trash (until the caterer showed up who is not responsible for that!). I wish I was making this stuff up. 

The location is this property's saving grace. Within walking distance of everything you need. The rates are affordable, but our overall experience was just sub par. No attention to detail whatsoever. We were excited to go home...not the feeling you want when you're on a road trip/vacation. Good luck! 

It is probably one of the ugliest buildings I have ever seen. However, I was greeted warmly at the desk. The hotel is showing some wear, but the room was clean and very comfortable. It was no showplace, but I would stay again. It's right at the end of the downtown strip in Hot Springs, so it is very convenient.
