“Very small”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

This is more like a collection than an aquarium. It is interesting to walk through but it only takes about 20 mins and would not be worth the price of admission for a large group or family.

“Not what we expected”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

While the price was good, $5.50 per adult and free for kids under a certain age, this wasn't what we expected. It is very small and contains what I would consider to be standard sized home fish tanks to house each of the exhibits. It didn't take us long to walk through.

“Nice Small aquarium”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

This aquarium is small but they have some interesting animals. The price is low and I think that you get what you pay for here. A nice pleasant experience. Theres not much to do in Hot Springs so this is a neat little attraction that I would recommend.

“Small aquarium”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

It's not a very big aquaruim, it did have some of the local fish that you would see in the area lakes which was interesting. They have a gift shop also so the kids could shop.

“Check it out, but adjust your expectations.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

We decided to give the aquarium a try even after reading the negative reviews here. And, we are glad we did. We had a coupon for $1 off admission, and our three-year-old son was free, so we spent just under $10.

As other reviewers have noted, it is not a huge place. We spent about 45 minutes there before our son was bored (he is only three). I really liked that the descriptions of each animal - for most there was a basic description (appropriate to be read aloud to a preschooler) and then there was more information if you were interested. I also like that many of the tanks had built-in steps for our son to stand on and see. We still had to hold him up for some tanks but it was nice for him to be more independent. Our favorite "critters" were the tomato frogs, the alligator (who was quite cranky at us through the glass!), the piranhas, the tarantula, and the turtles. Pokey, the tortoise, was not roaming around but was in her pen taking a nap. She was beautiful! While the place itself was not as updated, the tanks were clean and the animals seemed well cared for.

I actually really liked the small size. There were a few other families there at the same time, but we allowed our son to roam around because he was always within eyesight. Yes, it is one room but it is kind of an "L" shape so it makes it seem bigger.

The gift shop had some neat things. We didn't buy anything but were rushing out hungry. And, the staff was nice. While we were there there were two staff members that could have been college students. When we mentioned that the alligator got so ferocious at us (through the glass of course) they started to tell us some stories. It was cute.

We probably will not return but are glad to have spent some time there. If you have $10 and an hour you should go!
