“Home Away From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

We had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks at Haven over the Christmas/New Year holiday season and enjoyed every minute of it. I would just be repeating all the previous great comments about the staff, accomodations, and food so I will digress a bit. Two or three nights are probably not enough time to appreciate the cooking and service of Sau, Mi, Dien and Kiki and you really want to spend some time watching the villagers go about their daily routines and definitly have a lunch with the locals at the well. There was ample oportunity to have supper at a different location but we chose to eat at the group table every night for the food and the chance to talk to fellow travelers. Last but not least the world needs more people like Rosie and Huw. Weather its trying to convince the villagers to use the garbage cans he bought or taking in a sick/injured owl and nursing it back to health or trying to find an inexpensve solution to a young mans missing limb they are a couple who are truly giving back to the community. Thanks for letting us be part of your family for the holidays.

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms and the one with shared balcony is more or less a landing but even that is al...

We had the chance to stay at this wonderful place for 3 days in November 2013 and we will never forget the peaceful- and quietness at “Haven”.

With entering the beautiful garden of “Haven” through a white wooden gate, we felt like coming home: The staff-team around Rosie and Huw welcomed us with nice chats and cool drinks at the common patio before bringing us to our lovely designed, super clean “Downstairs veranda room” equipped with a big bed, flatscreen tv (with a movie box), water dispenser (complementary water), a big bath room, van and AC, loads of towels (also beach towels) and a great private terrace facing the sea!

You can see that the common area is decorated with love. There are hammocks and sunbeds to relax in the sun and under palm trees, a big veranda to sit down, watch the sea, read a book or chat with the others. Or – like us - spend some windy and rainy typhoon-days in a cozy atmosphere. Even though the weather wasn’t the best we really enjoyed our stay and didn’t feel bored at all.

Don’t miss the chance to have dinner at “Haven” as it is one of the best we’ve had on our tour through Vietnam. The kitchen crew did a great job and whipped traditional vietnamese delicacies. Same for the buffet-style breakfast with free (delicious vietnamese) coffee and tea – a good start into a new day!

There are sure a lot of things you can do around “Haven” and in the small fishing village “Bai Xep”, but we decided to stay inside this little paradise for our whole stay: The perfect getaway to relax from buzzing Saigon or Hanoi.
It is definitely worth taking a flight to the small airport “Quy Nhon”. Rosie and Huw will surely help you to organize a private driver to find your way to “Haven”. It takes you about 1 hour to reach heavenly “Haven” from the airport.

We can really recommend a stay at Haven and will definitely come back on our next tour!
All the best to Rosie, Huw and the rest of the Haven-staff including the lovely dog called Haven! :) Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Room Tip: Downstairs veranda room was great! 5 steps to the veranda, 10 steps to the beach! But you can be sur...

This is one of the best places we stayed on our year long trip through Southeast Asia. The combination of the relative luxurious accommodation combined with the authenticity of the fishing village make this a necessary stop for anyone looking for a place that is somewhat "off the beaten track." The food is great, the beds are comfortable, and the beach is one of the most beautiful I saw in Vietnam.

Home from home, whilst we stayed at the Haven Belinda and Paul were in residence. From the moment we arrived the Haven we felt at home. We can only add to the rave reviews this place has had. Paul and Belinda were incredible hosts, the food was much better than a lot of food we ate on our whole trip, we had the front room with the private balcony glad we paid the extra. Make the effort to walk around the village and try the local delicacies. If you have the want, head across to the hotel on the far side of the beach and try one of their awesome massages, a little expensive in Vietnamese terms but as part of the whole experience it was well worth it.
I had the pleasure of drinking with the locals, all it took was a couple of hours hard labour helping them to shift some of their fishing craft up the beach. They supplied the beer so no complaints. Drinking etiquette, although there is a lot of bottled beer it is customary to drink from the communal cup and iced eski!
We can’t thank Paul and Belinda enough for making our stay at the Haven one of the most memorable experiences of our trip- it wouldn’t have been the same without you guys. It was way more memorable than the 8 hours on hard seats getting to Mui Ne – wish we’d stay at the Haven for longer. XX

Room Tip: Definitely go for 1st floor with the private balcony, unless someone gets there first!!!

I visited Haven with my parents in the summer for 5 days after a long week of travelling, and it was exactly what we needed. The guesthouse is beautifully designed and Rosie keeps it super clean and tidy. The rooms are lovely and the mattresses are perfect for a good nights sleep. The beach that the guesthouse is on is gorgeous, and for the most part you hardly see anyone else on it, apart from in the evenings when the villagers come down to play bingo or swim. My mother really enjoyed sunbathing on her 'private beach'!

The best thing about Haven though is the food! Every meal was delicious, fresh and varied. My really is a great chef! Especially that to do die for mushroom soup - yum!

Really worth a trip to escape the hustle and bustle of the big cities and just so relaxing. Rosie and Huw are the perfect hosts and were so lovely to us, we felt right at home.

Thank you for a lovely summer holiday Rosie, Huw, My and David! x

Room Tip: The dorm is great value if you are travelling alone.
