The first thing you need to know about this property is that internet in the rooms is hard-wired, not wireless. That means if you're depending on a device like an ipad or a Macbook Air for internet, you'll either need to go to the lobby to connect to wireless or else have an ethernet adapter for your device.
One of the many things I like about this hotel is that it *doesn't* have a pool. And while it's not far from either mall, or even the airport, the immediate neighborhood is rustic. I suppose that's why I didn't encounter any big, noisy families during my lengthy stay, much to my pleasure.
At the time of my first stay a couple of years ago, I felt the property was a tad overpriced for what it offered. Well, this time around I was able to find a rate so good that I extended my original five-night reservation into a two-week stay.
The surprising thing was that the quality of this stay was also better than the first. Hotel staff are pleasant and helpful without being gushy. Housekeeping was consistent, actually damn near perfect, throughout my stay.
Prior to my arrival I requested a room with some sort of view. Not only was my request honored, I got a quiet corner room at the end of the hallway. The room was not large, but laid out in such a way as not to seem small. Furnishings were in excellent condition, including a 3/4-size refrigerator. Water pressure was consistently strong throughout my stay, and my room had its own water heater. The aircon unit was quiet and cool, with no drips.
As expected, there were some outside noises--motorcycles gunning at all hours, a mournful-sounding karaoke lounge nearby, crowing chickens, etc. But I always carry earplugs and was not bothered by any of this.
As with my previous stay at this hotel, one of the treats was the breakfast buffet. Selection was not huge, but usually included some well-prepared, extremely tasty local fare. The dining area was comfortable and staff were attentive.
For the discounted rate I got, my stay was probably the best lodging value I've ever experienced. I doubt that rate will be available forever, but grab it if you get the chance. And even at a slightly higher rate, this is one hotel I'd still heartily recommend.
