“Beautiful location and lots for children to do”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Beautiful location with breathtaking views and very friendly local staff. The food was amazing and we thought reasonable value, and I would highly recommend taking a cooking class. Our 6 year old daughter loved playing and exploring in the garden. There were monkeys, a rabbit, 2 guinea pigs and some fish. There were small walks around the ecolodge. My partner and daughter went swimming in the waterhole, but I did not go in the water because of leeches. We took a 4hr guided walk which was truly amazing. If I had to be critical, the towels and linen did not smell clean (at home when I try to clean more naturally I use eucalyptus and tea tree oil with hot water so I may be biased). Also beware of Bali traffic, it took us 4 hrs to get back to the airport with the hotel van so we were cutting it a bit short. I would definitely go back, recommend it to friends, and check out the owners other ecolodge near the beach.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Ruma Manis lodge, great for a couple or family with 1 child. There was a double bed...

Hi Tina,
Thank you for your very positive review, we are always happy to have families here.

1 Note: Regarding our laundry, we use only natural soap nut ( a local nut used traditionally by the Balinese before- Rinso became available here) there are no chemicals involved in any of the laundry for your bungalow. Our staff changed the sheets daily for you- at your request.

All the best and maybe we will see you in Bali again someday

Fresh air, breathtaking views, fantastic food, peace, love and jungle! We stayed in the Ruma Manis bungalow and had total privacy with breathtaking views. It's paradise. We could see half of Bali, all the way down to the ocean. Right next to it there's a natural postcard river waterfall down a steep path with three pools for swimming! Trek Batukaru, hike the jungle, walk to the sleepy village, or hang out in the lodge's amazing gardens. Have a chat with the four rescued monkeys, or get a massage (I had the best massage in my entire life here). There are also some excellent meditation spots on the property, and the energy is absolutely amazing. Much of the food is home grown and the meals are absolutely divine. Although we would like to keep this place to ourselves I say book now and never look back.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

The location is absolutely wonderful and the views breathtaking. All of the bungalows are beautiful and have all their own sweet character ( loved the outdoor showers with the ferns in the wall). But its the whole experience of the place; the ecological aspect and awareness of the whole project, the local community focus and involvement, the organic food grown on site, the quality and presentation of food, the friendliness snd laughter of the staff ... the love everyone puts into it... Overall a magical experience.

After 3 days in Ubud and a comfortable transfer, we arrived at the Sarinbuana Eco Lodge. What a wonderfull place. We were in the Tree House (as we required twin beds) which was really a whole little house with three rooms and bathroom. Fabulous jungle rainforest garden with paths to follow. Super food at the restaurant. They arranged a motor cycle trip out for us and we were driven around paddy fields and to the butterly garden and temples etc and had enormous fun. Do take the offered look at the herb and vegetable gardens - very interesting -and tasty!

Thank you for your review,

Again the question arises about - What is cleanliness regarding a room.

Is the sign of an ant, a frog or a moth- a sign that the room is not clean?, Is the sign of no life around your bungalow a good thing?.

As an Eco Lodge it is our obligation to educate our guests on the importance of a diverse ecology and also how to reconnect with nature, easing irrational fears- turning fear to appreciation.

We understand none would like harmful spiders, mosquitoes or to see a cockroach in the room. These are not the insects we are talking about here.

All the best
x Linda

My stay at the Bali Eco Lodge was amazing, waking up to clean fresh mountain air, bathing myself with the cold natural fresh water from further up the mountain (if you like that type of thing, they have hot water as well). Its the perfect place to feel welcomed, comfortable and free to let your mind rest. They have a number of watering holes that make you feel completely immersed in nature. The property is large enough to always feel like your on an adventure exploring an unknown world. The rooms are always clean and designed for complete relaxation. The staff are an absolute joy to be around and make you feel welcomed. I am personally not a big fan of Indonesian food however the food at the Bali Eco Lodge was unbelievable, when you get there for either lunch or dinner order the beef rendang and you wil not be disappointed, the sauce was so good that it is mouthwatering just to think about it. Having had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Linda and Norm, it is clear that the work they do to sustain the environment and educate the local community is seriously making a difference. They are not just talking about it, when you get there, you can see real evidence that green thinking is possible and people are doing it. Overall this is just a divine place to spend your holiday or even visit to learn about Eco (green) thinking.

I am at present staying at this incredible lodge. The rooms are just beautiful and clean! The service is excellent and the hosts are delightful! Its like you have the whole resort to yourself as its rare you bump into other guests. Having worked in the accomodation service industry for many years cleaning 5 star houses and hotels, i give this lodge 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and attention to detail. You live in harmony with nature here and i dont want to go home. Ever!!! I recommend this paradise to anyone who wants to experience the real Bali and its amazing culture! I will def be back!!

The long drive to (and from) the airport is a marvellous bonus in terms of getting to see so much of Bali. On arrival our first impressions of Sarinbuana were much enhanced by the beautiful fresh supper served to us late at night long after the delightful smiling staff would normally have gone home - wonderful of them to wait up for us knowing that we had journeyed long and hard (from London and Sydney) to get there. The courteous, sensitive, caring service continued without a fault throughout our 7 night stay, leading us to understand that this is a natural extension of the gentle harmonies of Balinese culture.

The smiling boy at breakfast, the light and ready laughter of the ladies preparing our endlessly delicious and inventive dishes, the wondrous warmth and strength of the masseurs and the caring questioning stance of our guides all combined to give us the feeling we were heavenly creatures welcomed to paradise.

Underlying all of this is the genuinely concerned and creative approach of the owners, Norm and Linda, who have invested their considerable talents in creating a symbiotic and complementary relationship between the lodge, its guests and the ecology and culture in which they have built it.

Of wonders there are many and delights there are more. Of activities and indulgences there are enough to satiate the appetite of a sheik and his harem. Do go, you won't be disappointed.

PS. It is the best place to read books and the library has a stimulating and challenging range of titles.
