The stay at the Waka Gangga villas was booked for a Company's event. The location of Waka Gangga is relatively remote and took about 1.5 hours from Kuta. Waka Gangga is not easy to find and we had to ask local people many times to find Waka Gangga. The villas are located at a black sand beach which is OK but not really great to walk at.

Waka Gangga has offers villas and lanais. The villas do have a swimming pool and a very nice view to the sea whilst the lanais appeared to be bigger but without a swimming pool. Other than a beach volleyball net, no gym or other sport facilities are available.

Waka Gangga does not offer a lot of food variety but that was possibly driven by our group event. No restaurants are located in the vicinity of Waka Gangga.

The great thing about Waka Gangga is that the villas are located in the rice fields and it is a very peaceful place for honeymooners and couples which seek for a quiet place in Bali. The offical price of USD500 per night and villa is way too much for the location, quality and service Waka Gangga offers. However, a price around USD150 should be acceptable.

I am writing this sitting an a deckchair next to the pool ot the Waka Gangga Resort. So you assume correctly, they have Wifi. We happened to pass by with our rental car and negotiated a nice deal with the manager. Reading through the complaints on that page I have to admit - its remote - it has no TV and Games aso. But it has a phantastic, romantic setting with nice Bungalows equipped with a bathromm and tub that let you easily forget about TV. We didn`t try the restaurant (besides breakfast which was very good) as it is a little pricey and we got a rental car and could check out a few other places. I would not stay here for weeks but to get away from all the noise and buzzle of the tourist hotspots in Bali for a few days it is outstanding. We had no problems with moscitos (and they love me...) and the room was clean and tidy.
Would I go there again - definitely

I don't know why everyone is moaning about how this place is so remote. That is the point. Whenever we go to Bali we try and stay at a few places -first off Kuta/Seminyak/Legian for a week for the action/shopping hustle and bustle. Then usually a quiet place far away from tourists/noise etc. When I saw a picture of Waka I know I had to stay there and was not disappointed -this was my first experience of a small boutique hotel and I was amazed. Boutique hotels have come a long way since this one was built though. We stayed in the first bungalow at the front. Fantastic views of the paddy field and ocean and pool. I didn't even mange to read my book as I just lay on the day bed soaking in the view and listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. Admittedly the service may have changed since I was there and it would be older now but the location was great. If you don't like being in the middle of nowhere -just book a few nights and take snacks with you as there are no shops around. Stay at some other places too. Please don't moan.

This hotel is a nightmare and please don't make the mistake we did without reading some of these reviews. The hotel is out in the middle of nowhere...really..its a 20 minute car trip to the nearest town of Tababan...Seminyak is an hour away. The hotel is tired and a bit run down and has one very ordinary restuarant. The Air conditioning in the rooms does not manage to effectively cool the rooms, there is no TV or games, there are mosquitoes everywhere, the garden and ponds are neglected, the pool has no shade, there was no reading lamp..blah blah blah. In isolation these things dont seem like much but to have all of these experiences at this one hotel was just awful..dont go to Waka Gangga. Karen and Kerry, Perth, WA

We stayed at the Waka Gangga 3 years ago loved it, but were almost put off on our return trip by the negative reviews on tripadvisor. We booked anyway and were not disappointed. The service was good, the property remains in great condition, and overall the hotel is a wonderful getaway from the more touristed bits of Bali. It is definitely a bit out of the way and the choices for dining are sparse, but that's exactly what makes it a special place.
