“Wonderful pool and Tanah Lot temple is so near!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

Pan Pacific Nirwana (old name was Le Meridien) is a luxury hotel with an incredible swimming pool including jacuzzis and waterslides, lots of stylish sundecks, friendly staff and very nice views of Tanah Lot temple, which is reachable walking along the sea or through the golf field in 5 minutes : go there before 9 am, after this time it is overcrowded until night. If you continue further (5-10 min on foot), you'll find the very nice "Melasti" restaurant with a terrace overlooking the sea, which is a very good option to consider if you don't want to eat everyday in the hotel. Breakfast was very good (huge buffet). Our room was big, had a nice view on the golf and the sea and a big bathroom with hot shower and bathtub!

A few "negative" points : The sea at the hotel is not suitable for swimming. Apart of the pool, you have to pay for every extra (even internet access) and they tend to overprice everything.

My wife and I were married on the beautiful cliff lawn at this hotel in July, 2012. The wedding planners were excellent and very accomodating and helpful in planning the wedding and also while we stayed at the resort. The views from the lobby and restaurants are amazing. The pool design is the best I have ever seen. All of our guests loved staying at the resort and I would definitely recommend having a wedding here or staying for a relaxing time.

Room Tip: Golf view rooms are very nice and you can also see the ocean.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

We stayed at the Pan in the first two weeks of April. My two daughters 10 and 12 and their mother. I had visited for a week in 2006 before this for a wedding and enjoyed it immensely .

The hotel had changed very little it is set in the north about an hour and half from the airport and 40 minutes from the seaside resort of Katu. Not that it's a long way the roads are choked 24/7 with literally thousands of mopeds and progress is very slow - this became a problem as time went on as the hotel is someway from any events you wish to do and most days included taxi journeys lasting hours

The hotel is set in massive grounds on the cliffs surrounded by beaches one with a world heritage temple and a world class golf course - if you play your looking at $150 but it's a life changing experience and something you will never forget. The hotel has a number of interconnecting pools which are fantastic there are tunnel slides which the kids never seemed to get sick of. There are many nationalities around the pool and we found the staff and other guests to be very friendly. There are always a number of waiters to bring you anything you want.

There are 3 or 4 restaurants serving a variety of food which varies greatly between first class and very poor - we found it necessary to complain one night and in fairness the restaurant manager refunded the charge without being asked

The bar is expensive and we gave up drinking cocktails at the pool because the bar served short measures ( this appears to be acceptable practice in Bali ). Again there was a great atmosphere around the bars - there tend to be a lot of weddings at the hotel and this really gave the place a buzz. The hotel entertainment is lame and best avoided

The first room we had was very small for a family we complained and were given a suite straight away which was fantastic. Free Wi Fi around the hotel is also very welcome

The hotel is famous for its spa but I found this to be very expensive and very average

Would I go back? Probably . The traffic in Bali is a big problem and the hotels location could put some people off. Overall though the world heritage temple and that golf course make it very worthwhile

Room Tip: Always worth chatting to the manager about an upgrade

Dear konan098,

Thank you for staying with us at Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort in Bali and sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor noting “Beautiful hotel, great golf course. Let down by expensive drinks and poor food”.

We are glad you enjoyed our hotel room, Greg Norman championship golf course, location, spiritual private sanctuary amidst the lush tropical landscape sharing the dynamic coastline with amazing view of Tanah Lot temple. Thank you for mentioning our helpful and friendly staff associates. They will be very proud and thankful to hear of your comments.

We are particularly proud of our comfortable setting free of pollution and enhanced by the sound of ocean surf. Sometimes our location is underrated but it really has a distinct appeal to guests enjoying their sunsets, quiet time and tranquil relaxation in this spectacular natural setting. We like to say our resort is a private pristine sanctuary, which gives our guests the chance to be surrounded by culture, authentic character and natural beauty. We are improving our activities programing to make sure you can enjoy a multitude of opportunities without having to travel.

We understand and empathize with the restaurant improvement opportunities you kindly bring to our attention regarding our food. I have discussed this with our Food and beverage Manager, Chef and Training Manager; they in turn will ensure that improved processes and additional training is put in place with emphasis on service delivery. We have compared our prices with the same hotels category and rest assured that we quite competitive and are not overpriced in this area, however I take your comment to heart.

Please call on me when you are considering your return visit. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Golf & Spa soon and often.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. This place is huge and absolutely beautiful. The staff were friendly, helpful, attentive and very polite. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly cleaned and beautiful with all the things you could ever wish for in a room. The king-sized bed was most comfortable and we slept so well while we stayed here.

The food was excellent in each of the restaurants. The breakfast has every food imaginable available in the buffet, whether you want western style food, or Asian style breakfast and the coffee is bottomless. The Balinese dance show on Friday night was good and we enjoyed the Balinese dishes in the buffet the most. I'd give most desserts a miss (not a fan of Asian desserts and versions of western desserts...they are generally a let down, even in a lovely place like this !)

The hotel grounds are very beautiful and well kept. The swimming pool is great. Water slides fun for kids (and adults too). The pool side service is exceptional. It's great that the attendants bring you chilled water when you arrive at the sunbeds or cliff-side cabanas. The food at the pool bar is excellent, although the local beer is VERY expensive here.

We also had a couple of massages which were lovely (but expensive by Balinese standards)

Aside from lounging by the pool, swimming, reading, playing golf, eating, having massages etc, there isn't much in the area to see or do (other than Tanah Lot Temple). This is a place to stay and unwind rather than get busy with activities.

This would be a fantastic location for a honeymoon if it is luxury & seclusion that you want. If you like shopping, seeing local sights etc, maybe stay here for only a few days.

Room Tip: We had a great view from our room (455) A great room on the corner, overlooking pool with distant oc...

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Hotel grounds are simply stunning. There is plenty of swimming pools, surrounded by palm trees. It is almost like in a movie, everything is so perfect. The grass is cut to perfection, the plants are well taken care of by the gardeners. The hotel sits on a cliff, so there are no beaches, but no one cares, because the swimming pools are awesome. Plus the views onto the sea are amazing.

Hotel is surrounded by a golf course designed by Greg Norman. The price of a game is 110 dollars, but for that you get an electric cart and a female caddy/driver.
They also have a decent gym, a tennis court and a spa.

There are couple of (unfortunately quite expensive) restaurants. When you order something you have to add like 30% of taxes and charges to the base price, so keep that in mind when ordering. On the bright side the food is good and the staff is very nice. Have to admit that hotel staff is great in general. It's the typical asian culture, so warm and welcoming.

Rooms are ok too and although they are not brand new, they are still very nice. They are big, with huge comfy beds, big bathrooms and balconies. My wife said they could use a renovation and I have to agree with her, although I felt OK in the room.

There isnt anything to do around the hotel, apart of Tanah Lot temple. We rented a scooter in the hotel (was around 15 EURO per day) and drove couple of kilometers in every direction from the hotel, but still couldnt find anything (for example restaurant, a pub or massage place). There are a couple of places that sell food beside the temple, but all very basic and the food is awful there. So you are pretty much stuck with the hotel food for the whole stay, unless you want to take the 1h bus to Kuta/Seminyak, where all the good restaurants are located. Unfortunately the last return bus is not late enough and so you end up paying more for the taxi to the hotel (was around 100K from seminyak). We have stayed in four hotels on our trip to Bali and only this one was so remote.

MOst of the time we ended up renting a car with a driver or going for an activity, such as white water rafting on river Ayung (which, btw was amazing).

So to sum up: this hotel was great for a couple of days, but after that we got bored and moved to another hotel.
