“Villa for the Third Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

I love this place!!
We have shared a 2 bedroom villa 3 times with different friends and every time left wanting to return.
It helps if your a golfer as the Golf course is spectactular, every hole is different with several holes played over the sea. Greg Norman design which has won many awards.
I have not seen a better pool complex in a resort. Several pools with two water slides all interconnected. Lounges and small cabana type beds scattered throughout. A pool bar and excellent pool side service completes the picture.
Extensive grounds with rock pools, bridges and great gardens again there are cabana's scattered around to use and look at the sea views.
A gym, spa and massage treatments, tennis courts are all available.
3 different restaurants (one a Tapas style) all reasonably priced and a good standard.
We chose to have a BBQ served in our Villa an incredible experience, plenty of well cooked food -if you take a villa this is a MUST.
The villa's have their own plunge pool, a Cabana with a view of the Golf course or sea and finally a magnificent outside shower.
The village of Tanalot is walking distance, although if you want the resort will drive you there and pick you up.
The staff are all extremely helpful and go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay.
Some tips-Take a villa its worth the extra, also take the golf package if your a golfer as the course is expensive US$175 each if you pay separately. The only downside is the cost of alcohol. Beer is ok but wine and spirits are expensive.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

We have just spent the last 12 days on holiday at the resort.
It has just gone to the #1 holiday we have had in the past 10 years visiting the Asian area.
I play a lot of golf so to have a course on hand without having to arrange transfers was great.
We were very well looked after by all the staff, and in fact we were greated by all staff wether they were working in the hotel, the golf club or within the grounds of the resort, yes, even the landscapin staff would stop to say hello.
The resort was about 1 hoursdrive from Kuta, by local transport. You have to accept that the average speed given the road conditions and local traffic will keep you at a max speed of around 40km per hour. While it seems to take forever to get there, when you do arrive it is all worthwhile.
If you are for the nite life, perhaps you would be better sstaying at Kuta, Legian or Seminyak. However the local scenery which overlooks the Tanah Lot Temple, and the sunsets is worth the effort.
There is a shuttle bus that costs you nothing that can ferry you to Kuta, Seminyak etc so you can do some shopping.
This is our second holiday to Bali and the best shopping, western style can be done at the Discovery Centre in Kuta, where you have the western style stores as well as the knock off traders. If you prefer to do the bargaining with the localss then go outside into the open areas where you can trade with the street vendors in either Kuta or Legian.
The Golf course is very well presented and is challenging to any level of golfer. The staff at the pro shop are very polite and helpful, the caddies or exceptional and you wont have to do a thing excep hit the ball.
Given you are a bit out of Kuta you may be concerned regards the cost of the in hous restaurants, well don't be. Merica which serves breakfast has a varied and resonable priced menu. Our average meal per head came in about $20-$30 AUD main course only. If you prefer seafood then the Pool Grill restaurant is the go and you will not be disapointed at the selection on offer at about the same costs as Merica.
There is the TLC bar which is probably more for a pre dinner drink and snack, whoch serves a tapas menu. This did not appear to be that well frequented while we were there and in the most was empty.
You can walk to the Tanah Lot Temple through the golf course, watch the sunset on the lawn outside the TLC bar, or join in on the themed nights that are arranged within the grounds of the resort.
We had a room overlooking the golf course on holes 6 and 7. This wing ofthe resort has exceptional views of the sunset without having to go down onto the lawn area.
The rooms were very well presented and big enough. we had access to wifi, and there is a Library and business centre so if you want to do an email check in for the return flights you are able to do this and print off boarding passes through the business centre.
The spa is very relaxing and the staff are great, i had a massage after each round of golf, 1 hour each time which was very relaxing.
Bottle water is provided into the rooms daily, 2 bottles usually, however on a few occassions we came back to up to 6 bottles left in the room, so you won have to keep buying water.
A new terminal bruilding is being built for 2014 so there is a bit of roadwork and building going on at the airport which does congest things a little. Be careful of the porters that seem to have your bags on trolleys when you gett to the carousell. They will be quick to usher you out of the arport and ask you for a tip. My suggestion would be you can take your luggage off their trolley and get your own. The last thing you want after a long flight is to be ripped off the moment you get off the plane. Don't change any money at the airport it is best done through more reputable establishments. We changed ours at KL or if you are going through Singapore you can do it there before you get there. All stores we bought from in the discovery mall took credit cards and we had no problems.
All and all a great holiday, and considering we don't generally go back tothe same place twice we will go back to the Pan Pacific Nirwana resort after we do Koh Samui, and Vietnam. Hopefully the new airport wil be up and running.

Room Tip: Pick a room on t he top floow facing West for the sunsets. Closer to the reception area so you have...

The resort by itself is beautiful. We had gone there as part of our time sharing and those cottages were quite far from the main resort and lobby. Each time we had to go to the lobby we had to call for a car to pick us up. The car would come promptly but the sheer inconvenience of the distance at times were a dampener. After after reaching the lobby and decor, the upkeep and the view were absolutely splendid. The resort is also far from the happening places of Seminyak and Kuta. It is an hours drive to reach these places. The resort management has been thoughtful and provide a complimentary shuttle and for those who would prefer to be on their own, this does restrict movement around the place.

In short, a wonderful place for someone who wants to just stay put and not venture out too much as the resort is far from Kuta and the time sharing cottages are also far from the main resort lobby.

Dear vaishali69,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor. We appreciate you choosing to stay with Pan Pacific while in Bali although distance between villa and lobby was an issue during your visit.

We are particularly proud of our comfortable setting free of pollution and enhanced by the sound of ocean surf, rice fields and villages. Sometimes our location is underrated but it really has a distinct appeal to guests enjoying their sunsets, quiet time and tranquil relaxation in this spectacular natural setting.

We are 60 minutes from Nusa Dua, Ubud and Kuta and provide air conditioned shuttles several times each day for our guest convenience. Many guests enjoy our shuttles to the beaches, restaurants and boutique shopping in popular Seminyak only 30 minutes away.

Please call on me when you are considering your return visit. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Golf & Spa.

There is dust and spider web in some corners of room. I stayed 4 days 3 nights(5/31~6/3) and the spider web has never been clean out. Complicate setup way for free using internet access. I showed my Kitas(Indonesia working license) to registration desk when I checked in hotel on first day, but I can't enjoy the benefit price of golf with Kitas during my saty. Hotel employee didn't have well training on understanding the charge rule for domestic guest. Even the reception employee also don't know the charge rule with Kitas when I checked out and inquired it to them.

Room Tip: Swimming pool view room is very noisy from guest at the pool area although it is more expensive and...

Dear Michael_Lu,

Thank you for choosing Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali and sharing your experience noting “Room cleanliness and no follow charge rule with Kitas”. We would like to deeply apologize for all the shortfalls you experienced. We are distressed, to learn that several aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations.

The Hotels Management has taken up the matter concerning the miscommunication at registration desk regarding the golf benefits for Kitas Holder when staying in the hotel so that this will not be repeated in future. They are now working on better communication with in the team and the staff are being coached and trained on the importance of providing accurate information to our guests.

Thank you for individually detailing these. Receiving Feedback like this is greatly appreciated and helps us become better at reaching the expectations of our guest and improving our services and facilities.

Please call on me when you are considering your return visit. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Golf & Spa.

We spent 2 nights here before moving to Nusa Dua for a conference. The 1 bedroom villas were fantastic - spacious bedroom, bathroom and dressing area with great air conditioning. Free wi fi in the villa also something we look for. Outside seating area was lovely with a small plunge pool to cool off in and we had views of the golf course and the waves crashing in. Our package included a round of golf on 2 days which could also be swapped for a 2 hour spa package on both days - the men enjoyed the golf (stunning views and a challenging course with experienced caddies) while the girls really enjoyed the spa! 3 restaurant choices for breakfast, we enjoyed a nice lunch at the golf club and a beautiful dinner in Merica Restaurant - the mossies were a bit too friendly at dinner but the staff were quick to provide repellant and add more mossie coils when we mentioned it to them.
The grounds are immaculately maintained, golf buggies available to transport us anywhere on the property as it is well spread out and all the staff very courteous and helpful. The markets at Tanah Lot temple were fun too - free transport to and from the hotel at any time.
We will definitley go back. Price was very reasonable given all the inclusions in our package - breakfast included, golf/spa included, free wi fi, some free laundry daily, light lunch and afternoon tea included, free transport to Tanah Lot, canapes and refreshments included in the afternoon. All details of the package weren't fully explained on our arrival so we missed out on a couple of things - this would be the on minor criticism I have.
Very importantly - the beds were very comfy, nice firm matresses and a choice of pillows.

Room Tip: Recommend a villa for the views and privacy.

....but this place is so awesome I don't want to wait!

Seriously, if you a looking for a relaxing holiday in Bali, away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist traps then this place is for you. We stayed here for 8 nights with our 16 month old daughter and it has been a very easy place to be with a young child.

If your goal is just to relax, and you're not fussed about there not being heaps of shopping around, the Nirwana is an exceptional value for money resort.

The Resort:
Many people have said that the photos don't do this resort justice and they're right - it is the most intelligently designed resort we've stayed at, it is beautifully built and the scenery is stunning. Sunset over Tanah Lot from the Sunset Lounge is really special (and actually much more impressive than seeing it from Tanah Lot itself, which is disappointing).

The pool complex is hands-down the best out there, with superbly designed bridges, slides, stairs all cascading from one space down to another: there are spas, a basketball court (in the water!) and a few podium based sunbeds. Just sensational.

Restaurants:
Some people might be worried about the fact that there are only a couple of restaurant options here (TLC Cafe, Merica and the Pool Grill - plus special dining events twice a week and a few private dining options), but even after one week we're still happy with the amount of choice we've got - the food is beautifully prepared and very tasty (not many Balinese options though, so if you're looking for local fare you'll find all fresh local ingredients but mostly western-style feeds). Our favourite is the Pool Grill for fresh seafood off the BBQ, but Merica does great dinners too.

We went to one of the weekly outdoor buffets/shows and weren't disappointed - the local dance performance was great, as was the food.

We've indulged in happy hour cocktails (2 for 1 at the Pool Bar) at 5:30 every afternoon - the Mojitos are just fantastic.

Our room:
We took a Family room that looked out towards the sea. These rooms are very cleverly designed with very generously sized bunk beds tucked into a walled off area from the main bedroom that gives both spaces some privacy.

The bathroom is enormous and immaculate, the balcony large and comfortable and the amenities faultless. The room servicing has been brilliant and includes a bed turndown and extra bottles of water.

We had wireless internet included in our package and it has run very well the whole time (maybe not fast enough for video streaming but perfectly fine for everything else).

We have found the bed wonderfully comfortable, we two different types of pillows (one firm, one soft) on the bed. We've slept magnificently.

The Staff:
The staff have been incredible - let me give you this example:
A few days ago our daughter had a very bad night and was sick. We called reception to ask for a doctor and they showed great concern. Within an hour we had an English-speaking doctor at our room who diagnosed a sore throat and sent her assistant off to a pharmacy (goodness knows where that is) to bring us back the medicine prescribed.

Later that afternoon we got a call from Guest Relations asking how our daughter was: was there anything they could do? Was she alright? Could they help?

We were impressed by that, but totally blown away when we came back to our room later in the evening to find a plate of chocolates and a hand written note from the guest relations manager saying they were sad to know our baby was sick and they were there to help if they could do anything.

This is first class service that we have not experienced anywhere else in the world.

We have also taken a babysitter each evening who sat on our balcony whilst our baby was sleeping just in case she woke up, allowing us to go out for romantic dinners each evening.

The Spa and Gym:
We both used the Spa and it was great - good massages and beauty treatments. The gym is quite large, modern and has all the options you could possibly want unless you're a bodybuilder.

Closing remark:
This was our first trip to Bali but we really lucked out, this place is brilliant and we'll definitely be back in future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the ocean - opening the blinds in the morning is bliss. We were on the second...
