“Breathtaking view & relaxing stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2014

Our villa is one on the top. The view from our balcony is amazing - the valley, mountain, forest and the Ayung River. Everything is the villa is beautiful and cultural. From the statue of Wibisana, to the exquisite wood-carved door.
The resort is built on a mountain. We went down to the bottom and found ourselves on the of the Ayung River. And there're deers too. From the bottom we walked up, I couldn't take enough pictures because there're so many beautiful stone carvings along the way.
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. When the airport picked us up I need to find a certain ATM to get cash. The driver- Apple took me to an ATM but it didn't work so he drove us to find another one and finally I got what I needed. Everyone in the lobby and restaurant is friendly. We found the evening shuttle bus from Ubud to the resort left at 10 which was too late, so they offered a ride at 19:30 which was a very reasonable time for us.
If you need to find a place to relax and enjoy the nature this would be a really good choice. If you likes to party and hang in bars and pubs you will find yourself in the middle of the wild and have no place to go.
Although it's expensive for us so we only stayed for 2 nights in Villa Wibisana. But it's totally worth it.

Room Tip: We stayed in Villa Wibisana. It's said to be one with the best views. It's near to the entra...

The resort is certainly in a special location. The staff are very attenitive and the rooms extra large with a good size balcony. The furniture in the rooms is big and bulky and all down one end so the space isn't used wisely. There are only 18 rooms that use the pool as there are 2 seperate buildings each with their own. If you do wish to go into Ubud the shuttle times are not particularly good with the first at 10am and then not another till after 1pm. I have to say the restaurant was amazing. We ate there every night and the service, food and ambiance was fantastic! This is the perfect place to stay if you just want to do nothing but sleep, swim and relax. A great place for adults but probably not the most exciting place for children.

Highly recommend!! I would most definitely come back if I ever venture back to Ubud. My first recommendation would be to hire the hotel driver from the airport as the taxi ride can otherwise be a bit chaotic. Driving in Bali is an experience, and I feared for my life on the crazy cab ride to the hotel. But this resort is lush, immaculate and super clean. It literally is a jungle paradise. Everyone at the hotel is willing to bend over backwards to give you whatever you need. The villas are amazing, but staying in the hotel is also superb. The breakfast is included and offers a huge menu of options while dining overlooking the Ayung River and jungle. There is free morning yoga, and free shuttle rides into Ubud throughout the day and night. The decor is impressive with granite statues throughout the resort, massive bathrooms with walk-in showers and the grounds are super green and well manicured. The pools are all infinity overlooking the jungle. I would also recommend a trip to the spa, there are outside cabanas overlooking the river, nothing better than relaxing in paradise! This is the first review I've written and I felt that it was necessary due to my amazing experience. Definitely an A++ experience. For such a luxury resort the price is also a steal! I would also recommend asking for a tour, as I was lucky enough to receive a buggy tour of the grounds including the villas, rock carvings and the pet deer!

Room Tip: Take the hotel shuttle from the airport

Ayung is a unique place overlooking the forest. It s quiet, relaxing but still close to ubud centre. It s sorrounded by small villages and rice fields so you can walk around and get a feeling of the real balinese lifestyle.

We were upgraded to the penta room which was very big and well furnished. The staff is friendly and well trained. Breakfast was excellent, with many sets to chose from.
What really impressed us was dinner. The dishes are superb, fresh tasty and very well presented. You might think they re pricy but considering the quality and the quantity i d say the price is fair.

What else to say? We highly reccomend it even if you have to take the hotel shuttle to go to town. The location and the atmosphere make the difference.

Had a great time staying at the Ayung for two nights, We had the best breakfast we have ever had here! We also dined at the restaurant for one evening, we were given free desserts due to our main meals taking so long to be served (this was said to us by the staff, we hadnt realised that they had!) People complain that the location is not great but paying £5-£7.50 to return to the resort is not something to moan about as this resort really is a tremendous place to stay. Will definitely be staying here if i ever return to Ubud.

Where to start? Location: in the jungle overlooking the Ayung river. We stayed in a villa overlooking the jungle and river. Unbelievable! 3000 square feet of hand carved multi generation teak with its own infinity pool and wrap around patio. The Summum of luxury. A bottle of champagne and appetizers waiting for us. Staff: a resort where all the staff is happy and smiling. Best service ever received. The restaurant: one word: wow! They will be lucky if they can keep this young chef. Best meals we had in our round the world trip. If in Ubud no need to look further for best restaurants.

It was our first trip to Bali. The entire trip was a unique and eye-opening experience. The Ayung Resort was the most unique hotel among the four hotels we stayed in Bali. The hotel is by the Ayung River and surrounded by woods, very quiet, walking distance from the rafting place Sobek. We were very impressed by the warm welcome of the hotel staff and the welcoming Indonesian cakes upon our check-in. The breakfast, included in the room rate, in the restaurant was a la carte, absolutely amazing and royal. More impressive was the restaurant manager Mr. Merta and his service team. Their professionalism, attentiveness and sincerity were unparalleled! On the day of our departure, when we finished breakfast and started to walk out, a staff came to me insisting to refund my son’s breakfast cost because he did not really eat anything. So only a juice was charged for my son. It's not about the money! The free yoga class offered at 7:30 am and the spa were pleasant and invigorating. We were usually not very used to being treated so nicely, but when we got used to it, we were moving to our next hotel. We found it a challenge to adjust back to a normal hotel, thought the next one was also good. On the location, it's a bit far from the Ubud centre. But as taxis there aren't so expensive compared with other parts of the world, I think it's fine. A good place to enjoy the serenity of mountains and relax.

Room Tip: Next time we might like to try the villa with a private pool.
