A very well run hotel in a lovely situation. The staff are all very pleasant & excellent at their jobs, we were made to feel very welcome & had a relaxing 10 days.
The situation right on the sea is lovely with good sunrise & sunset aspects & the large pool more than sufficient for most. The food was excellent & the restaruant experience always good both for food & service. The staff at all levels were quick to get our names right which is always nice.
Drawbacks - none really but thought the lack of a bar for evening drinks odd but never a problem, we got what we wanted whenever, either served around the pool or in the lounge areas..

We first spend a long New Year retreat at Alila Manggis Bali in 2011 and decided to come back to this wonderful charming Eastern Bali resort for New Year 2014.

The team and wonderful service did it again to reach a 5 star experience. Salt the on location restaurant is by far our best dinner experience on Bali both for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highly recommendable.

A huge thanks to the head of concierge Hatmawan and his team to exceed our wildest expectations and we cannot wait to return to our very special retreat in the near future.

Room Tip: Delux room because of the day bed

My wife and I stayed 3D2N at Alila Manggis for Babymoon (My wife is pregnant).

Our first impression is, this place is soo beautiful. There are 4 block cottages around the pool. When you open the rear room door, you will see the swimming pool overlooking the sea, accompanied by the sound of waves and birds singing all day long.

Sadly there is no sand beach for swim in there. But indeed you can't find the sand beach along the coast of Candidasa except you go to Pasir Putih beach or Padang Bay.

But you still can enjoy the beach by laying at the poolside or your room terrace. Pick what you like :)

Stayed here recently with friends and it was perfect. The rooms were beautiful, everything you could have asked for. Any issues we had were sorted out instantly - our friends felt their room was too hot so a fan was brought up immediately. One of them also wanted ear plugs (due to a snoring partner!) and a staff member drove to 4 different hospitals to get her some.

The staff were friendly and helpful without being too overbearing. The grounds and swimming pool were very well kept and it was just a fantastic, relaxing environment. Breakfast was generous, wonderfully presented and tasty.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and I would certainly stay there again.

Having stayed at other Alila facilities before this one didn't really meet our expectations.

thumbs up
- great, delicious welcome drink
- very friendly and helpful staff
- nice pool area
- generally relaxing atmosphere

thumbs down
- a shuttle to the nearby town is offered, yet, none to the beach that has been advertised online. it would have been nice to not having to pay 40USD extra for a day at the beach
- the resort lacked the special something and could have been anywhere (Egypt, Indonesia, Greece, anywhere warm and touristy). Other Alila resorts did a much better job at incorporating the local culture.

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay here, especially since this was the last stop for 1 day at the end of our trip and all we planned for was a quiet day at the beach/pool-side. Yet, it was not an outstanding place to stay either. All in all: a bit better than average.

Room Tip: ask for a 1st floor room if you don't need direct access to the pool side from your terrace.

Dear Swiss_Miss89,

Firstly, many thanks for taking the time out of your day to provide valuable feedback pertaining to your recent stay with us, much appreciated. We certainly recognize that this took time out of your day for which we are truly thankful.

Furthermore, please accept my sincere apologies for our inability to exceed your expectations specifically referencing the shuttle service to the 20-minute away beach and the location of the property.

We certainly agree with you in respect to the location being tranquil and the region is renowned for being the heart of Bali, which has remained idyllic plus mostly untouched by modernization. Within a short distance of the property there is the beauty of Sideman, the crater of Kintamani, the foothills of Mt Agung, The Palace, Water Temple, white water rafting, unique mountain bike routes, diving, snorkelling, many cultural insights plus location being the main gateway to Lombok.

On a more positive note we are delighted to learn that our team has provided you with excellent service quality and acknowledged plus acted upon all requests / requirements to the fullest extent. Rest assured that I will certainly share your positive comments with the entire Team especially with those whom shared genuine warmth, care and made you feel at home with us during your short stay.

For the future, and when you next decide to visit Bali please be encouraged to contact my office prior, to which I will manage all arrangements for you personally. I am certainly confident in our ability to meet or exceed your expectation and I look forward to this opportunity in the near future.

Once again, thank you for conveying your constructive feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to Alila Manggis soon.

With kindest regards,
Sena
