“Perfect place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

I booked a villa here, not knowing what to expect, and could not have been more pleased. The villa was stunning, especially the early morning views over the bay as the sun rose and everything was a lovely pink colour...the food at the restaurant was delicious and healthy, and the pool is the largest and best pool at a hotel I came across in Bali.

Room Tip: I stayed in Villa 13 - great for a couple or a solo traveler.

Bloo Lagoon is a perfect escape from the hussle and bussle of Kuta and surrounding areas. Its location is amazing and views are unbelievable. Maintenance is lacking a little but overall very good. Sleeping was difficult with ferries running every few hours in and out of the harbour. Spa is expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the oppostie side to Padangbai itself. The ferries run all night and are so loud.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking your valuable time to post a review on Trip Advisor after your recent visit to Bloo Lagoon Village, Bali.

I am delighted to note that you enjoyed your stay in a beautiful little place ”Bloo Lagoon”. I am pleased to know that you found the pool area awesome, its location is amazing and the views are unbelievable.

Maintenance is ongoing as we learn how to better live with nature and we can assure you that it is continually improving. You are more conscious of the ships horns because there are no road sounds only natural sounds at Bloo.

Spa prices to be expensive compared to other company? Our prices look higher than you may see outside, but in comparison if you consider quality of the product, this is nothing. We have a very special spa with outstanding ocean view and our therapist is very professional. Its nothing compares.

Thank you for staying with us, and look forward to the opportunity of again welcoming you back to Bloo Lagoon Village, Bali.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Bloo Lagoon Village for one night last month while awaiting transport to the Gili Islands. I was slightly hesitant to stay here after reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor, but immediately upon arrival was blown away by how amazing the resort is! Service was excellent and my room was breathtaking... I seriously almost had tears in my eyes when I was being shown around it - amazing! The views from the property are also breathtaking! Great vibe to the place, very nice pool. And the food was such a pleasant surprise! Highly recommend the Bloo Lagoon Salad... yum! Also, can easily walk into downtown Padangbai or there is a free shuttle, as well. Will definitely be staying here again in the future! :)

This was the only bad hotel we struck in 2 weeks travellng around Bali. It has been well designed but seems to have lost its focus. It is way overpriced. We have stayed in much nicer hotels for considerably less. Our room was US$80 and was unpainted concrete walls. Dirty bathroom and thin white cotton curtains. wi-fi didn't work. The door had gaps when shut. The gardens were overgrown and the lawns dead. The trouble is there's not much choice in Padangbai.

Dear Mr/s Jo Watson,

Greetings from Bloo Lagoon Village, Bali!

Thank you for your review of our resort. I’m sorry to hear that your holiday experience with us wasn’t up to your satisfaction. I have shared your feedback with the staff concerned for our continuous improvement.

Responding to your comments regarding unpainted concrete walls. You stayed in the architects guest suite and in keeping with their ecological philosophy this building was left with the original concrete finish as many building around the world are now. Some of course prefer more traditional finishes, its a matter of taste and truthfulness. The simple cotton curtains are also to the architects taste.

We have allowed the "gardens" to grow naturally and its true their success does give a feeling of overgrowth but this is due to the success of our ecological approach, before this site was very dry and bare. You also noticed that the grass showed this. At this time of the year with our careful use of water the grass goes brown, but it will return when the rains come.

Regarding the dirty bathroom, this is cleaned and checked every day and I have checked with my staff and apart from the usual dust coming in from the open planning it should have been clean. We apologize if this was not so. Please give us a little more detail as to what was not clean, so that we can remedy things.

We do not have Wi-Fi in many of the houses, but it is available in the public areas.
You say that Bloo Lagoon was expensive, but it is in balance with the costs of running such a p[lace and as guests get a full house rather than a room it is usually considered very good value. You only paid $80 for a modern guest suite and this included a good all you can eat breakfast.

I hope you understand more of our workings and need to work with nature not against it and hope that you will come and visit again to feel more of the beauty and positive work of Bloo Lagoon.

With Warm Regards,

Agus Suananda

This is the most amazing place for travelers wishing to see Bali the island and not Bali the tourist destination. Tony and Marita created the most wonderful and ecological friendly environment. We spent a week there with our two children. The resort is so safe that our children were able to roam freely. We got to know the friendly staff very well. They treated us like family. If you truly want to enjoy nature at its best - this is the place. However, if you are looking for a traditional hotel environ with sterile bug free floors/walls then this is not it. Our children loved the geckos, birds, bats and especially the cats (don’t love the ants so much). They have talked non-stop about Manis the cat. The food and services were excellent. We stayed in Bali for another 2 weeks after leaving Bloo Lagoon, not one single breakfast lived up to the ones we had at Bloo Lagoon.
Thank you Tony, Marita, August, Wayan, Novi, May, and everyone else (too many of you to name ☺). We are glad we found Bloo Lagoon on this trip and look forward to returning.
Mr. Long and family.

We chose the Bloo Lagoon as accommodation choices in Padang Bai are not huge and the ads on their web site were very inviting.
Unfortunately we were disappointed when we found their 'village' did not live up to the description. Yes we had a huge unit with 4 double beds in it (for 2 people) with a wonderful view - but only one area was closed off and air conditioned with the air con unit blowing directly onto the bed! There were no comfortable chairs and the ants that took refuge in our clothing overnight were obviously enjoying us for breakfast in the mornings!
The Bloo Lagoon is atleast 10 minutes from sea level including 53 steps and if you choose to add variety, speedy service and some quality fair to the very limited Bloo Lagoon restaurant experience by going independently into the village, it is quite a steep dark night time treck.
We understand that the facility is advertised as 'Eco' but that I would not have thought should include allowing wasps to feast on the water melon breakfast offerings unmolested or the atleast some attempt to bail the wind blown debris out of the pool a couple of times a day.

Dear Mr. Grant R,

Thank you for making time to share your experiences regarding your recent stay at Bloo Lagoon and I am sorry that we did not respond to your feedback earlier.

Firstly let me say how sorry I was to see your review and find that you felt disappointed to see our resort did not live up to the description and apologize for the dissatisfaction this would have caused. I am sure however that you will be pleased to know that our Eco resort is very open to the elements. We have designed the houses that way to allow for airflow and interaction with nature. Not only ants…bat or even monkeys are sometime around. Since we are Eco, we limits the installation of the air-con unless its necessary. We only use LED light in the resort premises which is slightly darker than the normal lighting system but most people like this idea. We clean the pool daily, we removed debris of the tress almost every hours however since we are located up in the hill and wind blowing very strong, some debris of the tree’s leaf may goes into the pool. About the wasps…we really can not control them but again most people are OK since it is a fruit seasons in Bali. The chair and cushions in the house are provided at their best standard but considering sofa is made with natural stuff, the comfortable level is different.

Again please accept our apologies, your comments will help us improved.

Kind regards,

Agus Suananda
