“No luxury hotel, but amazing views and a pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2010

My boyfriend and I had a 2 week holiday in Bali and wanted to visit Lembongan so we booked our stay at Coconuts and our travel to the island before we left the UK with Bali Discovery - www.balidiscovery.com. The hotel doesn't have their own website and there are only a couple of websites where you can book to stay here. For 1 nights accomodation (b&b) and travel by fast boat to and from the island only cost us £79.00 between us. This is a lot cheaper than the tour operators were selling the trip for in Sanur, Bali.

The hotel used to have fan rooms with no windows and aircon rooms with windows. Please be aware that the resort has now done away with the fan rooms, they now all have windows although they still don't all have aircon.

The resort is a short 5 min walk from where the fast boot drops you off on the beach, it's set on a hill with great views over the bay.

The rooms are clean but very very basic and the bathrooms are in a definate need for an update, we were only staying one night so it didn't really bother us but if we were staying any longer it may have.

The pool area was clean and well looked after, and we really enjoyed being able to take a dip in the infinity pool with a nice cold Bintang beer in our hand and overlook the bay.

Staff were polite and the breakfast was nice - eggs cooked fresh to order, fresh fruit, toast, yogurts, tea & coffee.

There is the main beach where you come in and also smaller beaches close by that we visited. We met a local who took us out on his boat snorklling all around the island for the day which I would definitely recommend, he stopped at mushroom beach which was pretty so we could have lunch at a nice little seafood restaurant. We paid 300,000 indonesian rupiah for this.

Lembongan Island is definitely worth a visit and if we were to return we would definitely stay at Coconuts again, this is a 3 star hotel in Indonesia and not in Europe so the standards are different, you pay for what you get, don't go expecting 5* star service but you can definitely look forward to a pleasant stay.

“A bad experience from start to finish”

This jaded hotel is not worth the money - we were so let down by this part of our trip. We had to carry our own bags from the boat -to the reception and then again up all the steps to our room - the concierge was too lazy to even give us a hand. The first room we were shown was filthy and surrounded by rubbish and had a man making new window frames on our doorstep. The next room was ok - but now that they have windows on the fan cooled rooms they are like an oven as you can't catch the sea breeze. The view is non-existant due to the coconut trees planted on the terraces leading up the hill. The gardens and pool area is unkempt and uncared for - weeds sprout out of every pot plant, the pool lounger cushions are frayed and ripped, all the umbrellas are rotting and ripped. The whole area is covered in bird poo and mould. The staff are so lazy that there is no service at all - if you try and wake up the pool caretaker (from her constant sleeping on the beds assigned for massages) for a towel she waves you away to unlock the towel cupboard and get your own. i could go on and on - the breakfast was bad, etc etc etc but hey life is too short. I am only writing this review so that others don't make the same mistake - this resort has potential and was obviously once quite nice - but there are much nicer places to stay on lembongan.

My girlfrind and i spent 3 days here. This remote island has special atmosphere! We booked an open air boongalo without door and windows which made our trip unforgettable! You can feel as a part of nature! The room is large and absolutly clean with sofa, great bed and table. The Shower room is open air too you can take shower looking at sea in front! At night can be a bit noisy because of wind and rain, but it is not a problem! Staff is very helpful. Swimming pool is clean and above the clief provides picturesque view on sea whan the sun goes down. This hotel offers a very good snorkling tour aroud the island book it and enjoy! Restourante is with very cheap food and drinks! Hotel is higtly recomended!

“WE LOVE COCONUTS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2009

My Husband and I first went to coconuts in 2001 as a couple and had a wonderful time. We loved the views, the service, the rooms, the pools and the tranquility. We went back again in 2007 with our teenage children, a bit worried they may be bored, but they loved coconuts and the island, it was lovely quiet family place to stay. We had previously been in Kuta and Sanur and was a great contrast. We reccomend the hotel for elegance simplicity and do also say, try and get a bungalow - definitely fan villas over the A/C Villas, the roll up blinds for doors and windows add to the ambiance. Trey and get as close to the pool area as possible as it is a steep climb to the top. The views are amazing. We would recommend to all ages. We are heading back there for the third in this December.

“absolutely breathtaking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2009

My partner and I stayed at Coconuts for 3 nights in October 2009, after a busy and fast-paced 8 nights in Kuta, Bali. We arrived there in 30 mins travelling on the Scoot Fast Boats from Sanur. The views from various places around the entire resort were breathtaking....definately a fabulous place to wind down. Our bunglalow (number 6, not too many stairs to climb!!) was airconditioned - though not exceptionally cool - and the power of the shower was not great either....but hey, who's spends all their time in the room anyway!!! The bungalow was lovely and again, the views were AMAZING!!
There are 2 small infinity edge pools overlooking the beautiful bay and the 3 surf breaks. The meals at the restaurant were yummy, so too were the cocktails!!
Staff were all very friendly!! There is also internet access, pool table and table tennis. It is however very quiet at night, no point coming here to party!!
If you don't surf, there isn't too much on the island to do except relax and perhaps snorkel if you're into it (the water is beautifully clear and there is great marine life to view). We hired a scooter and explored the various bays on the island...Mushroom Beach was my favourite. We also drove accross the suspension bridge to the other island!! Do note, the seaweed farming can be a bit smelly haha!!
All in all, we had a fabulous time staying at Coconut's and have highly recommended it to our family and friends and we hope to return one day soon in the near future!!!
