“Warung Coco at Poppies 2, Amazing Hostel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

When I first got Warung Coco I was taken back by how beautiful the place was, and not to mention it's only minutes walk away from the beach. The service was excellent, when me and my mate Tom arrived we were greeted by a lovely receptionist and all the staff was more than helpful. We only stayed one week in bali and all our time was spent here because we loved the atmosphere so much. Next time I come back I definitely know where my first and last stop will be, Warung Coco!

Highly recommended, 10/10 hostel!

Room Tip: My room was great at room 2, I'm sure the rest of them are amazing aswell

Stayed for a few nights. Good rooms! And very clean but we slept terribly because of dogs barking all night. When the dog stopped party people came home and made noise and then the dog started again. Honestly it was frustruated because the dog did it every night for several times...

Me and my partner had booked 10 nights stay but only stayed 6. The room was spacious, breakfast very poor, very cold hard toast and jam, that was it. The reason we only stayed 6 nights is because of the staff and other guests. the hotel is very noisy and one night 6 guys decided to drink, smoke (not cigarettes) and be very loud right out side our room. (Each room has its own patio/terraced area with table and two chairs right outside the door). We understand that Poppies lane is a party area and went out a few nights ourselves but this just took the mick! The guys started drinking outside our room at 1am by 3am started to get very loud and by 6am they were still there. Me and my partner at this time had no sleep all night!!! When we asked the other guest to move from right outside our door/windows, they were very aggressive and towards us and verbally abusive and staff members just did nothing! A security guard just watched and a staff member just carried on serving them more alcohol. We are absolutely disgusted by this as it did nearly get out of hand and the staff didn't care. When we asked to speak to the manager, staff said on two different occasions that she wasn't there and not available. To make it worse, non of the staff barely speak any English at all. We spoke to a member of staff about this incident the next day and she just smiled and didn't seem to care at all. Please note in each room there is a notice on the wall saying that can guests keep the noise down after 11pm and respect other guest that maybe sleeping! This clearly means nothing to the staff and nothing to the hotel, pointless having it on the wall if they won't do anything about it anyway. We don't like to complain about things and on our travels we have stayed in some noisy areas but this is rediculous. There is a lot of noise around the hotel from dogs, cockerels and noises from nearby temples, but these didn't bother us at all. We did ask for a refund for the remaining nights but all of a sudden they couldn't understand me and yet again the manager wasn't available.

I'm still not really sure how I feel about this hostel. So I'll give you my points and let you decide!

GOOD: the rooms were big and spacious, with wifi access, breakfast is included and the location is great. Staff seem okay but don't ever seem to be around.

BAD: Maybe we just stayed at a bad time, but our room stunk. They must be having plumbing problems as our bathroom was gross. There is also about ten thousand dogs barking outside at all hours of the day and a very confused cockerel that cock-a-doodled every hour! There's a bar downstairs and a number of annoying drunk people screaming at 2am wasn't too fun either. Another thing that annoyed me is that they advertise a saftey deposit box for your use but when I asked about it there was no such thing.

The hostel is alright, but you can probably get better in Kuta.

Excellent hostel with very friendly and funny staff, Quiet hostel but a short walk away from the liveliest area of Bali. Rooms were in great condition and the shower was excellent as was the air con. breakfast provided every morning although we only made it down once! Would highly recommend this hostel and its sister hostel to anyone visiting Bali. Very reasonably priced also.

This was a an absolute awesome find for me; a young surfer on holiday in Bali for a month. The room is comfortable and fitted with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The staff were really friendly and gave great customer service. would recommend to anyone travelling in Bali.
