“Great introduction to Bali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Stayed with a friend on a 4th floor room, only down side was that it was so far away from general amenities and that it didn't have a pool view with a balcony. If we had that little extra definitely a 5 star experience. Great security, staff are wonderful, food brilliant, enjoyed the pool side bar, massage within the complex. Have already referred to friends. The Stones is away from the hustle and bustle on the streets, yet the beach is only across the road. Prices are higher than in other areas of Legian but you expect to pay a little more in such an exclusive resort.

Room Tip: Definitely, one with a balcony, but away from the busy part of the complex

I recently attended a Conference at The Stones which is a large elegant hotel in Legian.

Pros: Good level of security, very good conference facilities, excellent breakfast buffet and a great pool area. Plus lovely staff that go out of their way to be helpful and pleasant.

Cons: Room design is very unusual. When I opened the door to my room I was standing in the bathroom. I then walked through the bathroom to access to the bedroom. (no other option).
Only a curtain separated the bathroom/wet area from the bedroom area. I found this configuration both strange and impractical.

The hotel is very good as are the staff. Overall rating is Average due to the very strange room design.

Had a short but busy 3 days in bali and glad we chose the stones hotel as it offered facilities bar none-we used everything and found it first class and the staff welcoming and the food tasty and appetising-we will definately return as the location made it easy to get around bali and attend to our commitments(given the short time frame).

Room Tip: we chose a garden view room as we wanted quietness at the end of the day

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in a pool view room. Could not fault anything with this hotel.
Service was excellent, Breakfast - Great with so many choices. Even though the hotel is large the service is impeccable with nothing being too much trouble. Couldn't see the value in a Premium Pool Room as these rooms are always shaded and you have no balcony.

Room Tip: Pool view room is the best

Had a great time in Bali. The stones is close to many restaurants and bar at the legion strip. B'fast seem very busy everyday, but generally the restaurants at the hotel is pretty quiet for lunch n dinner, I reckon due to many more options outside . Via the hotel managed to meet I guess one of the best tour guides in Bali, Nyoman and he is super knowledgeable about the island and the places to go. Booked a day tour with him and he was superb. Great guy. The shopping mall close by is not that bad either, and Kuta beach is a mere 5 minutes walk away.

Tried the premium pool which located only in the ground floor and facing to the public pool.
The room is ok. Not too spacey. The pool inside room is a plunge pool, like jacuzzi. If the water is warm, then it will be perfect!.
The amenities, quality of linen, various menu for breakfast, all are great in meeting the 5 stars hotel's standard.
I like the warm public jacuzzi pool and the hammock :)

As for me, this is a great hotel, except the security system procedure :)
Maybe it is a standard for Marriot group, that every guest must be checked every time they want to get in the hotel.
Also the distance between the bed and the plunge pool, it is too close. Makes the floor in the room easily get soggy.

We stayed at the Stones Hotel for 3 nights in September 2013 for part of our honeymoon. In general we loved the hotel. The staff is super friendly, the hotel is very neat and clean, plus you get a delicious popsicle upon checking in! We were also given a credit of $50 USD a day to spend on food/beverage/spa services. We found hard to actually spend since your money goes a pretty long way. I eventually got an express pedicure just before checking out just to use up the credit. Also had roundtrip transfer from and to the airport, which was a welcome service considering there are taxi's and drivers yelling at you from every direction upon arrival.

The location on Kuta Beach is perfect, cross the street and you're right on the beautiful beach. It was a quick cab ride home from the bar area and walking distance from a lot of the touristy shopping areas.

When we weren't venturing out for food, we had the breakfast buffet, lunch at the pool, and room service. The breakfast buffet was good, although service for the egg station was slow every time we were there. They were often out of things in the buffet, but I couldn't find staff readily available to ask to refill something. We ordered room service for dinner one evening as we were too tired to venture out. My husband's burger was delicious, but my club sandwich (or whatever I ordered) was the saddest looking sandwich I have ever ordered. Also got some mac and cheese from the kids menu for a little sharable side, but it was tasteless! We only ordered once, so not sure how the rest of the food is.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and since we only had three nights it was a perfect location near the airport and central to a decent amount of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.

Can't wait to visit Bali again!

Room Tip: If you can get upgraded to a suite for any reason...do it. Saw some of the other rooms as they were...
