“You get what you pay for... This is a budget hotel. Not glamourous!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2009

Well what can I say?
If you are planning to spend time in the hotel room, look again. We stayed in a deluxe room and found the room to be smaller than your run of the mill hotel room. The bathroom was generally in desperate need of a good scrub. The white bed linen though changed everyday was always stained with blood and god knows what else... The balcony was tiny and overlooked a construction site. The reception desk was always busy and swarming with complaints in general from unhappy travellers.
On a more positive note, if you are young and looking for a party stay or if you are happy to overlook these issues in favour of budget, this may be the place for you. The outdoor facilities are excellent and seemingly well maintatined. The location is pretty good too and the staff seemed friendly enough also. The hotel is right on the beach and maybe 10 mins walk away from central Kuta.
A couple of things to know... Do not book airport transfers through the hotel as these are well overpriced. Catch a blue metered taxi instead. They are easy to flag from the street or they are continually dropping at the Hotel also. Also if you want to suntan by the pool, we found that the guests were getting up early in the morning and placing personal belongings on the limited number of sunbeds thus securing the bed for the day. A little rude, but seems this is the way things work here. Also the disco noise is quite loud at night, not from Jayakarta itself but neighbouring properties. This was not a concern for us but maybe for other travellers. Also at about midnight it seemed was the time to let fireworks off on the beach, it was a little concerning on the first night hearing the explosions but after realising it was only fireworks it blends into the atmosphere of the nightlife.
Personally I will not be recommending this hotel to my family or friends as I am sure that there would be more suitable accomodation in this price range.

Due to the busy period we had to upgrade from standard to delux and then again to a one bedroom apartment. Apartments are delapadated and tired, bathroom had mould and hot water ran out after just one shower. Although maintenance fixed it, it still only lasted one hot shower per day. there is no safe in the rooms, but you can leave your passports and travel docs with reception. However due to the poor customer service we received we chose to lock our valuables inside our suitcases in the room.
Rooms need painting, new fixtures, new beds and furniture. Towels were often not replaced, no facewashers and when requesting a hairdryer or any housekeeping item it does take forever to receive. The residences are a fair walk to the main lobby and pool/dining area, grounds are lovely though. Beatuiful hotel on the exterior but in urgent need of a reno! Staff also mostly friendly, but were not helpful in resolving our room issues, nor were willing to go out of their way to ensure we had a good holiday. service was average. Location is brilliant and when we go back i think we will skip the jayakarta and try for a hotel along legian beach, all with good locations and whilst the jayakarta was expensive and we had to upgrade twice, i regret that we did not look at staying at one of the boutique resorts for the same money.

On arrival we checked into our Superior Pool View room, as recommended by travel agent. In a word it was disgusting - furniture falling apart, light fittings hanging out of the walls, not to mention two single beds (apparently we booked twin share?). After much complaining, we were moved to a Deluxe Garden room - slightly better, but very old & dirty, furniture broken & again 2 single beds. After one night, we demanding moving again - for US $10/night got a 1 bedroom apartment at the front of the complex (Club Bali - which is in the "Residence" part of the complex). This was a vast improvement in all respects, would recommend to anyone considering this hotel to elect for one of these. (Our review ratings are for the hotel, not the residence apartment we stayed in - which was quite good).
As the hotel was at near full occupancy, it was impossible to get a lounge chair at any of the three pools (which along with the gardens were lovely), all seemed to be "booked" by about 8am, with towels over them (obviously this being done in the night). Having breakfast included in our package was nothing special either, we ate there no more than twice & it was below average.
The staff seemed in general to be friendly & helpful, the location is very good, lovely restaurants nearby, good shops & opposite the beach. Unfortunately the place is just very old & needs a refurbishment, and didn't seem to cope well with large numbers of guests.

From when we first arrived our experience here was not good, we had booked and paid for a deluxe poolside room, which was a lot more expensive than the standard room. The girl told us she was "upgrading us" and tried to put us in a horrible room at the back of the resort with a view of the construction site. After much complaining and lies from the staff we finally got the room we paid for. You get the feeling here that the staff are very dishonest. My wife and I are in our 40's so we don't expect to party all night long but, there isn't much to do around the hotel as it's too far from any decent restaurants or nightlife, the pool is overcrowded and you can't get a chair unless you are there before 8 am. The kitchen is not clean, I took a wrong turn when looking for the toilet ( bali belly from the breakfast ) and saw a man smoking in the kitchen and small cat walked in and out, when it pleased. The mini bar items are 10 times more expensive than elsewhere and there is a sign on the gate telling you you can't bring food or drink items in from out side. This hotel is definately NOT value for money and I wouldn't stay here unless you want a boring, miss-adventurous holiday.

We arrived here the day after my daughters' wedding in ubud, where we stayed at a lovely small hotel called the Saren Indah, which was perfect even though only rated 3 star. The location is great and the foyer of the Jayakarta is very large and looks wonderful and the staff were all very helpful and welcoming. After we climbed the three sets of stairs to our rooms, I was a little put back at the general old shabby feel about them. They are in dire need of an upgrade, as the floor tiles were dirty, the linen even had staines and one of these looked like a blood stain, the cane chair with cusions were supposed to be white, but closer to black with more staines. The bathroom had a very smelly drain, and the bath was also stained. Such a shame because the rest of the hotel is quite lovely. No complaints about the breakfasts, lots to choose from, staff very friendly, and the pools were well kept. This is obviously recommended by travel agents in australia as every second person was. If you have been given this hotel as a recommendation just check it out first on all the reviews. :o(

we have stayed at the jayakarta hotels in bandung and jakarta , both have been satisfactory . however this hotel is a disgrace !! the bathroom drains smell the enamel is worn off the bottom of the bath and generally dirty . the bedroom furniture is old and broken , the air con did not function , the kettle was broken , the walls and ceiling were dirty and stained . the balcony rail was loose and unsafe . and this room was an upgrade after we complained about the first one offered .the whole fabric of this hotel is old and crumbling and should be demolished yesterday . !! beware use the gymnasium at your peril . no hairdrier/electric iron/ room safe provided . we could go on if space permitted . we advise you to ! spend your hard earned money ,at a better , cheaper ,cleaner hotel there are plenty , ask your travel agent or read the revues

Stayed for 2 nights at the Jayakarta in a Deluxe Room in 400-block. Had to request a different room because the first room we were given (even number) face out towards the perimeter wall of the complex and there was very noisy construction going on in the lot next door. Second room (odd number) faces in towards the garden/inner courtyard and was much better though you can still hear the construction noise. I agree with other reviewers that you should immediately check the room you are given and insist on an acceptable quality.

Room quality and cleanliness was OK. Bathroom was OK and everything works but it does look dirty (water stains, etc), and have a musty smell.

Gardens and pools very nice, love the direct beach access. Very convenient location, walking distance to Jalan Legian. Lots of places to eat around the hotel, though almost all are sit-down restaurants. Hard to find a cheap, quick place to eat within walking distance.

Booked last minute through holidaycity.com and paid US$96/night (all in). Definitely overpaid, but it was high-season and I was desperate. Would stay here again, but not for that price.
