If you are after a place is a very central to everything then this is it. Very close to all the night spots and shops. Would recommend it to a young traveller and young groups but maybe not so much to a family. Yes as everyone else says it is very noisy so if you a planning on going to sleep early don't bother. But for those who stay out late this is no problem. Rooms are very small but if is only you then this is not an issue. Staff are excellent and had no problems with them.
So overall if you want to party then stay here, if you want to relax go to one of resorts down on the beach.

Room Tip: Not near a door that bangs or close to the roof

The hotel has some good aspects to it with the free internet in the lobby, although slow at times, and the ability to print on the spot. The service from the balinese was great with the bellboy texting my transport for us from his own phone. Also being close to kuta shopping, if thats what you are after, but if you want to go north, ie. to legian/ seminyak/ kerobokan via transport you will sit in traffic for a long time as the road is one way to kuta and sits at a stand still. If you would like some sleep, or any space in your room to open you bags, or value for money, you're probably in the wrong place. the noise carries throughout the hotel into the room. we could hear people in the hallway, people/ tvs in the rooms next door, motor bikes going down the alleyway which runs down the sides of the hotels and dishes being cleaned in the kitchen (all of this noise we could hear in our room!). The shower has no power, there is no option for in room service, ie food or drink. The pool and seating around pool is tiny for the amount of guests. The lobby bar closed earlier than advertised and the pool is only open til 8. we stayed for three nights and got very little sleep. pretty disappointed and we wouldn't go back especially when there's better value hotels in the area.

Room Tip: get off the bottom two levels

They have a very nice comfortable bed but its not enough since the environment Is so noisy here, you can hear people's step walking by or someone's chatting. The room are too tiny eventhought its clean.
The service also nt too good, we're asking for toothpaste on the phone to operator, they ask o look again in the toilet and reluctant to give. I'll never come back again

For a brand new hotel, you'd expect the rooms to be fairly modern. The bed was fairly comfortable, bathroom was tiny.
Very loud (due to music playing throughout the hotel) and you could hear through the walls of the rooms. The only decent thing about this place was the rooftop pool and cocktail list.
In regards to the "Spa" I had a mainicure & pedicure, where I was seated on a stool in the hallway of the salon, like they had to find extra room to fit the nail section in. The girl took 55 minutes to do a manicure that was supposed to take 30.

Would not recommend this place, too expensive to be used just for the location.

The 101 Legian is a newer modern hotel in a good location on Jl Legian. The rooms are smaller but not too small. Good size bathrooms. It has a funky bar/ restaurant on the roof and a nice rooftop pool/ lounge as well. The buffet Breakfast was good with alot of selection.
This hotel was a nice surprise and we would definitely go back.

Good points: great part of town, really close to shops and party life, nice to sit in the lounges and hear the street life, staff were friendly and helpful, lots of great places nearby

Bad points: lots of leaks (we actually slipped on one and injured ourselves), no hot water, the shampoo, conditioner and hand soap are all one product, no ketle or tea making in the rooms, the pool is very small and shallow and very few chairs by it, the pool is on the roof and in the heat of the day the sewage smell is terrible up there, the rooms are really tiny, room service is on and off, one day they folded wet towels and left them on our bed! food at the hotel is poor and expensive

overall its a little better than your average backpackers, great if you plan to spend most of your time out sightseeing and partying!
