“Good Quality accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2010

5 nights at Bali Mandira - greeeaaat breakfast - good location - walking distance to the great restaurants along the beachfront at Legian. Room was very small for a family of 4 but at least they squeezed us in. The pool for children under 12 was good, but on booking we were not told the fabulous infinity pool shown in all of the photos is only for people over 12 which may affect some families - like us. Beautiful manicured gardens. This resort is popular with the Australians. They also provide theme nights karaoke etc. Painting activities for children. Would go back in a flash.

Thank you for the kind words and of course we would be very happy to hae you again. We do reccomend to try and book two rooms for four people or at least a suite in the future in order to have more space.

Best regards

1st step into pool is too deep for anyone with step disability. location is short walkin to restaurants, bars, shopping etc. Good breakfast selection and Pizza's are very tasty. We had no children but hotel looks very well catered for all age kids.
Definately will stay here again.

We had the deluxe room (with Club benefits) - Club benefits were minimal, drinks (mainly beer & cocktails) were fine, wine appaulling (as it is everywhere in Bali!), needed more staff in the Club lounge and can do better with the nibbles/canapes.

Main reason for this review is to say - if you are in need of a good hairdryer, take your own! The dryers they provide in the room are pathetic! I couldn't even dry my fringe, there was no power whatsoever - so take your own if you need to!

Staff were pleasant and the grounds were well maintained. Reception staff could do perhaps with a bit of a jolly-along...

Had 12 nights recently with friends at the Bali Mandira, must say we were not that impressed, way over priced for rooms that were damp and musty,air-conditioner was leaking water and needed fixing. The Jayakarta where we stayed last year was half the price in a similar position and we couldn't see a great deal of difference in the hotels.
I was dissapointed as it was our friends first time in Bali and i thought i was booking something more upmarket as we paid around $200 or more for a superior room per night, not worth it!
Management need to reduce the rates or be prepared to lose new customers as word of mouth is everything.
I must say in their favour though, the grounds were beautiful and the staff were polite and hard working.

I stayed in this hotel for ten nights. I stayed in the superior room which is the basically just the standard room. Room was very old and tired, not very nice at all, I recommend if you stay here book a deluxe room or higher. Room was still clean but after many trips to Bali this was not good value as far as I was concerned but the location and the rest of the amenities in the hotel were fabulous. For me personally this is what counts as you only sleep in your room. Breakfast was great every morning. Resort itself had a huge grassed area which looked out on to the beach, I never had any problem getting a sunbed, they have tables and chairs, a couple of cabanas as well as huge couches so if you are looking for a lovely resort style hotel, this is for you. We ate in the Parasol restaurant in the hotel and the food was lovely, so if you can't be bothered going out on the first night I recommend for a meal.
One recommendation, do not change your money at the hotel, the rate is not competitive, change money at Circle K Mini Mart, they are trustworthy, have the rates listed above and print out an official receipt with calculations so you know exactly what you receive.
There were two of these mini marts within a couple of minutes walk of the hotel.
If you need a guide to take you around Bali especially if you stay in Legian please let me know as my guide speaks great english and runs fantastic private tours at a great price.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your honest feedback. Please note that all our rooms are currently in process of being remodeled. We are always keeping up with the times and we are keen on improving and strive for guest satisfaction. Please note that exchanging money outside the hotel, on the street is done at a certain risk and many a times we had to assist to follow up on fraud issues. We cannot guarantee a safe transaction but only within the hotel exchange office but everyone is at freedom to chose a different exchange service if they wish.
We are happy you had a good stay with us and hope to see you again at Bali Mandira!

I'm not sure what the last person's problem was exactly but we would have been there around the same time and had no problems at all!!! The location was great, right down the end of the street and on the beach front, so easy access for either a day of shopping or a day of relaxing in the sun! The staff were all really friendly and mostly spoke english very well.

We had a Deluxe room with Club Benefits and would definitely reccommend. This meant we got water and soft drinks throughout the day, afternoon tea with cakes, and then beer and cocktails from 5.30 to 7 with a little fingerfood also. We always made sure we were back in time for this and the staff in the lounge were lovely.

We also ate in the hotel quite a few times as they had different theme nights which always interested us. I can also highly reccommend the Chocolate Calzone with Strawberry icecream!! We even went back one night purely for dessert! The Buffet breakfast was also great, with lots to chose from and I would definitely suggest getting the Chefs to whip you up a banana pancake! The restaurant staff were also great, really friendly and always remembered your name!!

Our room was lovely also with an outdoor shower. The airconditioning worked wonderfully and the decor was traditional but still modern enough to not look old or anything. The only slight problem I had was with the bed. The pillows were huge (which some people may well like as they are luxury style pillows), but housekeeping happily arranged for me to have some thinner pillows, and I could feel the springs through the mattress, which was a bit uncomfortable. Fridge also probably could have been cooler. But we got bottled water everyday and the rooms were really clean and never had bugs or anything in them! I also found the room plenty large enough and had really good storage for all our clothes and stuff.

So all in all, we had a wonderful time at the Mandira and thought the location was great, really central and we were able to walk both to Kuta and to Seminyak. Would definitely go back again.

I booked this hotel from the internet based on the photos and description. The hotel is extremely run down and tired. For the price we paid our first room was appalling and tiny. The next room wasn't much better. We obviously booked out the next morning. There is no personalised service at all.It is a massive old,run down hotel. Please to anyone thinking of staying here DON'T.For the same money there are plenty of quality places.

Dear guest,

While we are well aware it is impossible to please everyone, I apologize for whatever ruined your experience while here at our hotel. I do believe we have great people, product and service. Every marketing campaign we have done reflects truth and every image we post is real and easily recognizable when here and would be happy to assist with that. Once again, I apologize our hotel did not suit you; we have well over half of our guests coming from Australia they love it here, have a great time and a great percentage are long time repeaters. We are also currently updating rooms, expanding them and would love to have you try our hotel again next year if you would like.

Hope you enjoyed the reminder of your vacation.
