“We'll Be Back!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

As first time travellers to Bali, my husband and I had a great time staying at the Bali Mandira. The new pool wasn't finished but we knew that when we booked - no drama, there were two other pools to enjoy. The gardens are lovely and the rooms spacious. The staff are wonderful and looked after our every need, nothing was too much trouble. The location was great and we look forward to returning with our children!

Well for the poor / shortcomings first, we were very disappointed in the new pool not finishing as promised ( a big reason for us to book here!). We understand there can be delays, but it's how the hotel dealt with this was disappointing....down right bad! The complimentary evening buffet was NOT good enough, in fact it was plainly poor quality and narrow in range. Second, another issue with the buildings going on was the access to both pools... a real problem for those amongst us not able to climb like monkeys ....steps, steps and more steps....Pse time to get ramps, especially to the infinity pool ( I assume it is staying?). Also the noise and dust, especially for those who pay quite a bit more for club benefits, we could not sit outside on most Happy Hrs. As for the club ...really it's NOT WORTH IT...... you can get a good drink in a friendly pub around the corner at a much cheaper privacy and not suffer the noise and dust. The hotel is tired, lost of paving needs replacing and rooms need a little bit of upkeep. The hotel can not expect to raise prices or consider themselves " up to speed" on the basis of the new pool alone! .....
For the good....the staff, especially the service staff, they all deserve awards ... they were brilliant. All smiles and helpful, thanks to one and all of you ( ESP the breakfast staff at the parasol). The gardens are beautiful and well kept, the "feel" of the place is wonderful. Obviously the location is perfect for beach and surfing and access to shopping, spas, etc, etc
All in all a good holiday let down by a few avoidable shortcomings

Room Tip: Don't bother with the club, really get more value around the corner at a pub or resto

Stayed for 10 nights and cannot fault the Bali Mandira. All Staff very Friendly and always happy to help. Have stayed here a number of times before and just love the location and the way the hotel has remained a sanctuary away from the hustle and bussle of the surrounding streets. the gardens are fantastic. Very happy with the Junior club suite and the Suling lounge. Will be great when the new pool is completed.

Very conveniently located in Legian, deluxe cottage is a good size with an outdoor type shower.
Club is worth the upgrade for an extra spot to hang out. Adults pool is a great idea and the new pool is nearly complete. Food could be varied but we had a long stay.

My 14 year daughter and I spent 5 nights at the Bali Mandira. We had a cottage close to the front of the hotel ....we could hear the sea at night. The cottages are largish rooms really, but have excellent big bathrooms, a small verandah too. Very clean and tidy. We asked for softer pillows which staff happily provided. There were still pool renovations on when we were there but we did not care as we used the other pools. There was minimal noise from the renovations. We did not eat the free evening meals but did eat at the Parasol on the beach front and the bar next to it ....both these restaurants were good. Breakfast was great...especially the banana pancakes!
My daughter got sick on our 2nd day with a bad throat infection and the hotel has a nurse and doctor available...we quickly had antibiotics and assistance. We really enjoyed our stay, and met quite a few other people like us who did too. Very relaxing. I used the spa 4 times and it was great! And cheap compared to the same service in Australia. The location is fantastic if you want to go to Kuta or Seminyak..you can walk there on the beach. Cannot recommend the staff too highly..everyone was very warm and friendly and they are nice to kids which is important for families. The grounds are lovely with greenery and statues.
You will be staying in a tropical country so expect mosquitoes and bugs as well as other wildlife. We loved the squirrels.
Lots of good restaurants close by too if you want to eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: The pool villas are beautiful..5 star experience. The cottages near the pools are great.

I stayed here for 2 nights, It was good and a nice place to stay. fantastic location. Staff were helpful. There were renovations going on tho when I was there. However, the staff were more then happy to help. The food was hit and miss, overall though it was a good place.

We stayed 2 weeks at Bali Mandira.
the pool was still renovated, instead of that we got a daily dinner.
Breakfast was really good. Dinner very boring. every day same food.
Wifi very bad. Too slow. Mosquitos everywhere.
Stuff very helpful. rooms clean. Location very quit. good walking distance to Kuta or seminyak.
Spa too expensive. No free outdoor Sports offers. No Gym, no surfing, volleyball or football. Drinks too expensive. better go out way cheaper.
entertainment at the hotel was very lame. for this price you will definitely get a better Hotel.

Room Tip: book somewhere else. they are a big family. so try to book the resort next door. iam sure they are b...
