This unique resort - consisting of hotel building (3-4 storey), widespread Garden Suites amidst the tropical garden and a few pool villas with direct ocean view - provides a very hospitable atmosphere. Upon arrival the friendly staff with good English knowledge presents smiling the “welcome drink” together with cooling towels for refreshment.
The Bali Sani Suites right beside the sea and the long natural Batubelig Beach is located in the quiet surroundings of Kerobokan area with its natural landscape and rice fields. It’s only a 25 minutes' drive away from the airport and Kuta's entertainment/ nightclubbing and shopping area.
This hotel is still a secluded, romantic getaway for nature lovers and it offers free shuttle service 5 times a day to the nearest hot spots of Seminyak scene and Kuta.
Transport is really no problem on Bali: The bell boy call a taxi
(Blue Bird with taxometer) and it takes about 10 minutes to reach shops and restaurants “en vogue” at Seminyak.
I booked via travel agency the Garden Suite for 8 nights and I was surprised about their spacious rooms - recently renovated- which were comfortable and charming with its typical Balinese style. After I had seen the pool villas I was falling in love and I was lucky that guests check out at the next morning. After moving to Pool Villa (reasonable surcharge) with its gorgeous sunset view every evening ... great!
The interior design is influenced by traditional Balinese architecture and provides a relaxed & private atmosphere.
The pool was more than just a plunge pool and I enjoyed the private atmosphere on the sun deck (sunloungers & umbrella) as well as the traditional Bali Gazebo thatched with Alang-Alang.
Because of the appertaining guest bungalow with seperate bathroom (WC/shower) the pool villas are the optimal solution for parents with children or 2 couples.
I was pleasantly surprised about the silent AC and the very comfortable king size matress! Even a PC workplace (desk/chair) with internet access (WiFi) was existing and TV? I had a good choice with TV channels like HBO and other movie channels.
The spacious and luxurious designed bathroom (anthracite- coloured marble) was impressing! Bidet, huge shower (strong water pressure!) plus sufficiently dimensioned wash basin ...
and women with longer hair like me know to appreciate the additionally shower with string fixed at the bathtub.
What shall I say about the inviting breakfast buffet with a really wide choice of dishes?
The attached photos may say more than 1000 words although I forget to make photos of the place with mie and nasi goreng, steamed vegetables, grilled tomatoes and so on.
Normally I prefer dining out in the evening (too many restaurants are waiting for me), but because of hard rain I must stay at hotel area and so I had dinner at Kamboja Restaurant.
Another worth- while experience:
Against all expectations this “hotel restaurant” is simply great!
Maybe I should mention the fantastic cocktails at the pool bar?
No wonder that I will return next april together with my mother who is getting on for eighty in may 2010 to Bali Sani Suites.

got this "4 star" room from agoda
only thing good about the hotel is its proximity to the ocean
its location mentioned as seminyak is untrue
the hotel has mosquito issues
towels are very old and ripped
food is average at best
overall this place is not a 4 star as billed. maybe 2 star.
will never stay here again

We got our room on the 3rd floor, the seaview one, and yes its true they don't have elevators so we got a bit of excercise from going back and forth. The view from the balcony was truly nice as our room was the furthest at the end so we have full view of the beach. We like the traditional feel of the grounds, fish ponds, giant chess, lush garden, though its pretty hard finding your way around at night cos its a bit dark and signages need to be upgraded. Poolside was average, we always found a space for us to lounge or to have a drink or two, new mats for the lounger wouldn't hurt though. Because of the location it does have a gorgeous sunset view every evening. The food was nothing to rave about. Service is friendly enough, there was one staff who i think was overly friendly with the chitchats, good for some but can be annoying for others. There were lots of european guests though.
Its true that you have to be careful with the waves in this beach on some occasion swimming is prohibited.
We liked this hotel even though other reviewers might say otherwise..its not a big n ritzy resort type of hotel but its good value for money, overall..its a feel good hotel, great for secluded, romantic getaway and its simply wonderful..

My husband and I stayed at grand Balisani suites in June2009 having booked with Mercury Direct. Flights from Heathrow with Singapore airlines were great. Pick up at the airport through Mercury was excellent (as was the homeward airport transfer).
check in was made easier with the help of the courier otherwise it might have been a bit drawn out.
First impressions of the ground floor room was... dark, damp and dingy. The outlook was onto a very close ,dark garden wall. even at midday it was very gloomy and not what we wished. Also it only had a shower. We did request an upgrade to a sea view room and ended up on the fourth floor without too muuch ado ... but we did pay for it..As already mentioned... no lifts ..so the exercise did us good! at least the room was bright and airy and had a decent bath and separate shower.
Room servicing was daily but linen was rather sad and grey looking. The cleaning was rather haphazard and we noted that we had been charged for usage of water, nuts, chocolate before we had even started ... so these were quickly re-added to the inventory!!
Food was mediocre - we did eat at the hotel on the first night BBQ. Nothing to write home about and a dismal affair really! Breakfast wasn't too bad with eggs, omelettes cooked to order. nothing special...again.
Otherwise we ate out - Went to the small Warung just near the hotel and for the price couldn't fault it. Also tried Warung Sobat for cheap meal. For celebration meal we went to Breeze and also cafe Warisan - excellent food, impeccable service in idyllic surroundings... but at a price!!!!
Trips weren't our priority but we did go to the volcano with usual woodcarving, artwork detours.
Shame the beach was not very good, the beach sellers did pester you a bit. The pool was quiet and we did manage to find loungers. The pool bar was a bit basic but staff were always friendly. Missed having a bar focal point in the evenings - other than the beach bar, it wasn't easy to meet up with other guests for a drink.
All in all we found the hotel to be average ... but as we had really settled for a budget holiday we were not disappointed. We had a rest in the sun which is what we went for.
Perhaps a more upmarket hotel next time.
