Description: Purposely located off the beaten paths of nearby Oberoi and Kerobokan streets, SCRATCH is a new restaurant serving up "homecooked, like your momma did it, Sunday dinner, comfort food". SCRATCH is a needle in the haystack (or rice field in this case), located on a quiet street only five minutes away from Seminyak Square. SCRATCH is smoke-free and air conditioned with an outside patio for smoking and hanging out. It's got a relaxed atmosphere and hip decor, as the walls are lined with vibrant concert posters from bands like Cake, Arcade Fire and Neil Young, and more than likely you'll be hearing similar bands over the speakers. The menu is equally inviting, and can best be described as gourmet comfort food. But clearly the Canadian chef/owner (conveniently nicknamed Moose) won't settle for "mom's recipes", as it is obvious he enjoys putting a unique twist on most of his dishes. Signature steaks, rustic pastas, tapas, American classics, Asian favourites, and great specials during Happy Hour (8pm-10pm)...And you can wash it all down with a mango martini or a frosty mug of beer. So, if you've got an itch...Come and SCRATCH it!! NOTE: The map provided by Trip Advisor has us pinned in the wrong location. So, please call us for directions, or just jump in a taxi and tell them "Scratch restaurant, Jalan Pengubengan Kauh, next to Pengubengan Banjar". Thanks, and hope to see you here soon.

“Great place to hang out, excellent menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2015 NEW

They obviously put a lot of time into creating their menu. The combinations are pretty great. I had tuna with a blueberry compote that just melted in my mouth, topped of with a complimentary iced tea. The people here are attentive and thoughtful, definitely some love put into the food here!

“Very good food, a bit pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2015

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at this restaurant. Everything was fine, staff lovely and the food was good. However the price is twice as much as any other place in Bali.

“Newcomer Eatery To Bali Comes Up Tops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2015 via mobile

Location is out of the main stream Seminyak zone and on that basis running costs reasonable, therefore, prices are very good.
Menu is compact catering for both European and Asian tastes.
Wine list is small but adequate at very good prices and a glass of reasonable California red wine is rp60,000. Cocktails are great and a very good dry gin martini will cost you only rp80,000 where other restaurants in the Seminyak area will cost you between Rp120/180,000. Dessert selections are excellent. I had the steak at rp175,000 with trimmings and it was excellent, tender and cooked well and my wife had the Western ribs which consisted of two racks of 4 ribs each and again were excellent with spicy/tangy sauce.
Parking is limited , outdoor smoking area indoor non smoking and pleasantly air conditioned. Friendly and attentive service.
Small restaurant that would accommodate about 40 people comfortably inside and around 10 outside.
Master/Visa cards accepted Amex not. Bookings can be made direct or online.
Highly recommended eatery and you would not be disappointed and we shall visit again soon.

“GREAT FOOD!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2015

This is a great place to go and much better than most places in Bali.

The food tastes great and the Chef / Owner gives the extra effort!

We went on a slow day and service was not excellent - but this is often the case when a place is slow and the help staff does not pay attention.

But we will definately go back and you should give it a try!

“good food & service - place could be cosier & servings more generous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2014

The food was very good with fresh ingredients, however, the portions are a bit small, there were only 5 ribs in my plate, which was quite disappointing when they charge 125 000IDR + 15% tax. They could be a bit more generous on the portions considering that it 's more or less the same price as a main dish at the top restaurants on Petitenget.
The terrace is nice and cosy and it's a shame it's not bigger as inside it is quite cold due to heavy Aircon and the setting/environment is also quite cold and impersonal (the big white tiles on the floor and the TV displaying football are partly to blame).
The service and the owner are super friendly and really try to make you feel good! The menu is diverse and displays "comfort homemade" food.

All in all, a nice place to go eat at on the terrace :)
