Description: Purposely located off the beaten paths of nearby Oberoi and Kerobokan streets, SCRATCH is a new restaurant serving up "homecooked, like your momma did it, Sunday dinner, comfort food". SCRATCH is a needle in the haystack (or rice field in this case), located on a quiet street only five minutes away from Seminyak Square. SCRATCH is smoke-free and air conditioned with an outside patio for smoking and hanging out. It's got a relaxed atmosphere and hip decor, as the walls are lined with vibrant concert posters from bands like Cake, Arcade Fire and Kings of Leon, and more than likely you'll be hearing similar bands over the speakers. The menu is equally inviting, and can best be described as gourmet comfort food. But clearly the Canadian chef/owner (conveniently nicknamed Moose) won't settle for "mom's recipes", as it is obvious he enjoys putting a unique twist on most of his dishes. Signature steaks, rustic pastas, tapas, American classics, Asian favourites, and great specials during Happy Hour (8pm-10pm)...and you can wash it all down with a mango martini or a frosty mug of beer. So, if you've got an itch...come and SCRATCH it!! NOTE: The map provided by Trip Advisor has us pinned in the wrong location. So, please call us for directions, or just jump in a taxi and tell them "Scratch restaurant, Jalan Pengubengan Kauh, next to Pengubengan Banjar". Thanks, and hope to see you here soon.

“We are in love!!! Seriously - go here. ”

We found Scratch on Trip Advisor our first day in Bali and decided to check it out. We are so glad we did! It was the best western food we have had in Southeast Asia. We split the seafood grill & creamy tomato chicken pasta. Both delicious. The portions were a great size and they served filtered water for free - big plus! We stayed to map out the rest of our time here & the owner's girlfriend named Sri came in. She was such a sweetheart! She gave us great advice on what to do in Bali and even gave us her number for if we need anything (it's just us two young girls traveling & she wanted to make sure we were safe). Probably the most friendly person we have ever met during our travels, and we have met a lot!

Can't wait to go back and try the breakfast, it will be hard to choose what to order!

“Love this Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014 via mobile

Have been to this restaurant five times in the last 2 weeks. Excellent food extremely fresh and a great variety. Staff are very good, the owner Aaron from Canada originally came and introduced himself and was very accommodating about the menu. Breakfast has a fantastic range from all over the world great lunches haven't tried dinner yet but will do so in the next few days. Great prices on food and alcohol and juices. Highly recommend you try

“Great food and ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

We stumbled on this place by accident and had a really enjoyable meal in the mid-afternoon. The food and flavours were very good and you could tell that a lot of thought had gone into making each dish as tasty as it could be.

We shared a main as a starter, which was one of the days special - a spicy Mexican steak salad. Delicious! I had the coconut chicken curry which was so rich and deep in flavour. I have had a lot of indo curries and this was superb, really top notch and good value at 60,000. My partner had a burger which he thought was excellent as well.

We also had dessert which was a lovely gooey banana cake.

The ambience and service was great. The owner is very involved in his place and it's clear he's keen that each set of diners has a really good experience, which we did!

Would definitely recommend.

“Top Food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

Ive been in Bali for maybe 1 month now. I met a friend here for lunch one day and come back all the time. Aaron's a great host/owner, the interior reflects his personality. I love the music and vibe inside. All the different concert posters are a great touch.

Food is top quality, its a great menu. The little stories around the food is an awesome touch. It reminds me of all the food ive had travelling around the world and everything Ive tastes excellent....But Coconut Curry for lunch is the stand out.

“Just awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014 via mobile

We have spent 3 months in Bali until now and this is the best restaurant we've been to.
Omnipresent chef Aaron always asks if everything is alright and keeps being very nice and authentic.
Nice and small choice of dishes that are just plain delicious! You definitely have to go for a dessert!
