We just got back from a 12 day trip to Bali a few days ago. Although The One was the least expensive of the 3 villas we stayed at during our trip (also stayed in Ubud & Nusa Dua), it was our favorite. The villas are huge (I think we stayed in villa #4, which was a regular-size villa), with a swimming pool large enough to swim short laps in & it was a refreshing break from the heat. We spent a good deal of time relaxing poolside or in the huge outdoor area (complete w/ day bed & dining area). It was so quiet that we felt like the only ones there - we knew there were other people b/c we'd occasionally see them in the common areas, but we never really heard them.
The interior was very tastefully decorated, had central A/C & a comfy bed w/ mosquito net. I did not see any bugs when we were there, which is slightly amazing due to the tropical environment! Also loved the outdoor bathroom & shower area.
There are no restaurants, but a good room service selection menu - if you want anything, just call reception & the food was delivered to your villa within 30 minutes or so. We ordered from Cafe Degan a few times...delicious! They make breakfast at your villa (included in the rate & so big that we often were full all the way to late afternoon tea time!) & complementary tea/cookies were also served at the villa anytime you wanted in the afternoon. The One is about a 5 minute drive away from Seminyak - don't let the distance deter you - we loved the quiet & privacy away from crazy Seminyak & staff will provide you with a complementary ride into town any time you want. You have to catch a cab back, but it's only about $5 USD. If you call The One, they would probably come pick you up, but we didn't want to wait or get hit with phone charges.
This place is a fantastic value & you get a lot out of it - excluding room charges (we found a good deal on Expedia), for our 4 nights/5 days we spent there, we paid only a little over $225 USD, which included about 3 or 4 meals delivered, two 1-hour massages at our villa (done poolside), minibar charges (beers are only about $1 each & we drank a lot of them!), a full-day tour of temples & transportation to our next villa in Ubud (which included another full-day tour) & probably some other things I'm forgetting.
All of the staff was so wonderful - nothing was too much trouble & they were so kind. It seemed like the staff-to-guest ratio was 1-1. I actually got a little teary-eyed when it was time to leave!
