Sadly our experience tonight was very disappointing and the service particularly by the owner absolutely awful.
We ordered lobster for main and were given 3 size options small (300 gms) medium & large I can't remember as we both knew the small would be ample given we were ordering 3 courses. We were taken aback when they brought two live lobsters to the table to confirm our order. Not liking to see our food live we ushered our waitress off but acknowledged that she had shown us two and had stated one was 600gms and one was 650gms. Naturally we thought one of them would be chosen and split to meet our order (small @300gms x2). Tip: never assume! When we received our lobster we tucked in and unfortunately were very disappointed as it was quite tough. To top it off a couple seated close by proceeded to smoke with smoke blowing into our face and food. We were advised it was a smoking restaurant and the best they could do is move us to the back of the restaurant which turned out to have little air circulation which detracted yet again from our experience, now hot & bothered! The manager approached our table and apologised for our inconvenience but explained that all restaurants in bali allow smoking. She then enquired about our lobster which we proceeded to tell her was disappointing due to the toughness. She apologized and said she'd let the chef know. She also suggested we move to the front couch for dessert which we did. She personally took our dessert order which was one chocolate fondue under $10 and offered it complimentary due to our unsatisfactory lobster.
Next came the bill...!!! To our surprise we had been charged for both lobsters they had brought out earlier...we tried to explain the confusion that must have occurred with the waitress but she was adamant we agreed to both. In steps the owner...who by now started to show her true colors! She became arrogant with all sincerity completely gone. We stood our ground however and came to a compromise whereby we were discounted accordingly for the most part however begrudgingly so by the owner . We couldn't wait to to vacate the restaurant and her bad energy!!
But wait for the clincher...this is not the end!!
We got back to our villa to receive not one but two phone calls from reception to advise Sardine had called to request payment for the dessert the owner had given us complimentary...is she serious?! I would have to say seriously unstable & no we will not be paying for the dessert given to us complimentary for our ordinary lobster!
We will NEVER eat at Sardine again nor refer this restaurant to anyone.
Bad call Sardine...you certainly didn't do yourself any favours tonight!!
