“Great stay at 3V”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

We stayed at 3V Kerobokan for 6 days in April 2012 and by far this would have to be the BEST family Bali accommodation that we have found.

We had a 2 bedroom villa well laid out and had everything we needed. We were travelling with our 9yo and 6 yo boys and it was a nice change for them to have their own room . It also had a kitchen (in case we felt like cooking). There was also a water cooler in our villa which was very convenient as our trips to Bali always involved buying bottles of aqua. We didn't use the spa as the pool was just outside our villa and it was a good size.

The staff at 3V were very friendly and service was great.

Breakfast was included in our package when we booked with Wotif. As 3V was not a big establishment there was no buffet breakfast. Instead we were offered a choice of American, Continental or Indonesian breakfasts. We sampled all three during our stay and they were all fine.

3V also had a kid's club that was usually free. Unfortunately as it was school holidays the kids club did not have the usual free activities. Instead indoor soccer, gymnastics and a couple of excursions were on offer. Only one of our boys was interested in the soccer so we enrolled him in the activity. The boys also went on a jungle trek excursion on the 5th day. This was very well organised and our sons had a ball. The Balinese are just great with kids.

3V would be great if you want to keep fit during your holiday. There was a variety of group exercise on offer, including yoga and Les Mills gym classes. I went to a couple of the yoga classes which I found very challenging and seemed to be aimed at advanceI was used to. I also visited the gym a few times and found it to be well equipped with new machines. The menu at the restaurant also had a lot of healthy food and drinks.

The only downside with 3V was that it is a fair way from restaurants, shopping, and kids' activities. By taxi it took us a good 30-50 mins drive, depending on traffic. The beach was also about 20 mins away by car. They did offer a daily shuttle service at 11 am and a return at 4.30pm. Having stayed in Bali hotels that were conveniently located to shopping and the seaside we found the distance a bit inconvenient at times.

3V had complimentary WiFi in the villas and restaurant. The wifi connection in the villas was often slow or dropped out. The wifi in the restaurant was more reliable.

3V also offered massage in-house. A lady by the name of Layla gave very nice relaxing massages at very reasonable prices.

Overall we were very satisfied with 3V. The staff were very friendly, rooms were
comfortable and well cleaned. We would consider staying at 3V again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Villa 6 - another review advised that this is one of the newer rooms.

I recently stayed at 3V for the week commencing the 24 Feb 2012. A friend and I both took our 3.5 year old boys with us. The villa was good for the boys as it gave them a space to run around and the outdoor 'spa / plunge pool' was also handy as it meant they could have a play in the water, without always having to go down to the big pool. As 3V also opperate as a 'club' with the gym and pool, there were times when it got a little busy by the pool therefore we were not able to access sun lounges, etc... But overall, this extra traffic didnt really bother us. The gym was good and overall staff were very helpful. Only two constructive things: the kids club staff member could have made more of an effort to engage the boys and the 'free' breakfast got a little boring after a few days. Overall though, it was good value and I would stay again.

I have written quite an detailed review on 3V Villas previously, so I just wanted to add a few more details to anyone booking. This was our 2nd visit and we went with a very large group at one point having all 6 villas booked with family and friends. Once again 3V staff and facilities were wonderful. Few things I did notice was that Villas 1 & 2 (furtherest from the pool) are not fully renovated so make sure you request villas 3 - 6 if you would like a more renovated villa. The main difference is that the kitchen is a little more open and there is only one tv in the main living area (as opposed to having one in each of the airconditioned rooms in the other villas). One family we travelled with had small children (4 under 6yrs) and they really enjoyed their stay, but said they wished they had bought their baby monitor with them for greater piece of mind at night. We do not have this problem as our children are now 5 & 8 so can get up and out of bed easily if they need anything.
I also used the gym a bit this time we stayed and found the facilities to be quite good. I did not take part in any of the classes though, but was offered a few assessment on arrival and found the gym well laid out and supervised. Classes and usage is free for guests.
One thing we did notice more than our previous visit was that the gym has become quite popular it seems with local expats, which is not a problem, just meant that there were quite a few people coming and going through the main pool and restaurant area when classes were on.
This was also our first stay with the kids club operational. Our kids are water babies so we actually didn't really utilise it a lot, but they did enjoy doing some cooking classes and you could have used it a lot more if you are that way inclined. Zulu the staff member was great and very attentive.
As we were all family and friends the staff organised a traditional balinese bbq one night for us, and we added the request of a suckling pig. Everything was wonderful and we had a great evening, nothing was too much bother for them.
Gede and his housekeeping staff were also wonderful once again, as were all staff, who became a part of the family by the end of the trip. Thanks again 3V for a great stay!

PS There is just one thing 3V need to top it all off and that is a decent coffee maker. I actually took my little nespresso machine with me this trip (sad I know - but I need my coffee :) and was so glad I did as the bali coffee is terrible and even the coffee was their machine was not good. My nespresso certainly ended up getting a workout from everyone.

Room Tip: request villas 3 to 6 as these are the more renovated of the 6.

We had read great things about this property on this website - and it still turned out to be much better than what we had expected! The location should not bother anyone - its a 10 minute drive from Seminyak market - and you will anyways be renting a car for your stay in Bali (you must!). The villas were quite beautiful - you are hit with a splash of green - its like entering a forest of sorts. Each villa has 2 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a living area with kitchen and a lawn with a private jacuzzi. The restaurant is also decent (though a little over-priced). But the thing we liked best about this place was the personalized service which is given to every guest - makes your stay much more enjoyable. We complained about the air-conditioning in one of the rooms (Bali can get hot and sticky) - and we were pleasantly surprised to see brand new air conditioners installed in both rooms when we returned from sightseeing the same day. On my mom's birthday, the staff surprised us by decorating the villa and hiding a delicious chocolate cake in the refrigerator! They even played Indian music in the whole property when we were checking out (haha!). These little things made our stay doubly special. The only thing which we did not like about the villa was that the restaurant as well as the room service closed down at 10 pm (we visited during the peak season of December) - the hotel should ensure that this is taken care of! Also, the breakfast was same everyday and lacked variety. But even despite these minor shortcomings, I'll rate my experience as a full 5 on 5 and recommend this property to everyone who are looking for a quiet comfortable stay in Bali :)

Room Tip: All the villas are great!

We have tow kids 3 and 5 years old and this place was perfect. Clean, enclosed, separate rooms for the children, grass for them to play on and your own jacuzzi that they were perfectly happy playing in if you didn't want to got to the pool.
The kids club is small but worked-the staff were very attentive.
Yes, it's not beach front Kuta but it's only a taxi ride away from Seminyak. It didn't bother us.
We have travelled extensively and this is right up there as a top place to stay.

Don't really want to let the secret out as we found ourselves a little gem, but we know how nice it is to find a great place, it can really make or break your holiday.
Had a great stay at 3V with our two children. Travelled with another family and both had a villa each. Villas are very clean and spacious with a jacuzzi (great for the kids to hang out in, as well as the big kids:) they could also supply a lid for it if you had very little ones with you (like our friends did).
To be clear, we are a family who like the privacy, space and quiet of a villa but still like the opportunity to meet other travellers and their kids. We prefer boutique accommodation over huge hotels and can be a little picky when it comes to food (well, we like it fresh and tasty, is that picky?). We also look for value for money. 3v was perfect for us.
In terms of location, if this place was in the heart of Seminyak it would be twice the price, so for the sake of a few dollars in a taxi ride to get to our favourite restaurants, we did not mind. In fact if you want to have a look around furniture stores and interesting workshops then Kerobokan (and this street) is THE place (we have been doing business around there for years) you just need to head across the intersection and south. It really is very close to seminyak and all that it offers. If you don't like taxis then this place is not for you. Make sure you print off a map before you go and keep it with you, this makes it much easier to communicate with taxis. Because it is a little north of Seminyak central it also means you miss getting stuck in all the traffic if you decide to do day trips to Ubud or others.
It really was our little oasis, you could feel yourself relax as soon as you walked under the vine covered archway and into the gardens. The main pool is a good size and with only 6 villas, plenty of chairs and lounges. Kids room also good, set up with wii and toys etc. Great for them to have a play in while parents are having a drink by the pool before dinner. Gardens were lovely and well maintained and we really loved the soft european tunes coming from the bose speakers in the garden all day.
Food was good, little repetitive in the end, but this always tends to happen after a long stay. Food is very fresh with lots of flavour and lots of healthy eating options. They also have a kids menu (which our girls knew off by heart by the end of it, but they were not complaining). Staff were great with any request, some probably could improve on their English, but they are learning and were all lovely and great with the kids. Only thing we would have liked would be a DVD player in the rooms, we ended up hiring some but would be great if they were there, this may have been corrected by now as management seemed keen to take on and implement suggestions for improvement. Wifi was also an issue for us, but they were putting in a dedicated business centre and the front of the property so this would greatly improve things if you need to do some business while over there, would be good if it worked from the villas. Both of these issues were not deal breakers for us.
We are heading back again soon and after staying at many different places in and around the area we are so happy to have 3v to go back to. For us it was a perfect fit and really great value for money.

Room Tip: We booked via wotif but can also book direct.

We stayed at 3V (formerly Vivalavi) from 24-27th Dec 2010. The complex has 6 separate private villas consisting of 2 bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms plus open-air living / kitchen, private plunge pool, very lush and private garden. The gardens are beautiful, very tropical, with a central large pool, sun lounges, 4 relaxing shaded 'bales' and day beds all around the pool area, with wonderful 'chill-out' piped music being played quietly to add to the atmosphere. There is a restaurant, bar, kids club, gym and free yoga classes. We loved the fact that you had breakfast each morning (included in tariff) in the small intimate open air restaurant, and you could stay at the villas and have a fantastic meal there if you couldn't be bothered leaving these wonderful private villas - or have room service. The food there was outstanding and very reasonable. It was really quiet, no traffic noise and it felt great to come back 'home' to the villas (our little oasis) after being out in the busier parts of Seminyak, Legian, Kuta etc. By the way, these busy areas were only a 10 - 20 min taxi ride away, anything from 14000 to 40000 rp depending how far south you traveled. The 3V villas are in Keroboken (near the Prison), just past the north end of Sunset Rd. This area is a good base if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle, but you can choose to take a taxi ride to the busy spots. There is not very much within walking distance, just the usual smaller warungs where locals eat, some cheaper massage businesses, handicrafts being made, but the taxi's are so cheap, and there were a lot of great restaurants within 2-4 kms, also close by in the Petitenget area. What made these villas stand out as one of the best we've stayed at was the personalized service on site 24/7, the restaurant, and the attention to detail of the villas, cleanliness etc. and free wi-fi. Owned by a French company, there was a very helpful and friendly french manager on site, and the other tourists were from many different countries. We loved 3V and would highly recommend it to all ! Well done on providing a great complex which stands out from the crowd. We will never be interested in staying at a regular hotel or resort again.
Two great restaurants nearby worth visiting : "Warung Sobat", (Jl Batu Belig 11A) and "Mie 88" (on Jl Petitenget, sit out the back overlooking the rice fields), and Ganesha Bookshop at 888 Jalan Petitenget is also worth a visit. If you need a driver, we highly recommend Made Nata, telephone : [--]or email [--] -he has local knowledge, is honest and very reasonable.
