“Great location for GBMC (Greater Baltimore Medical Center)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2009

Have stayed here many times while having surgery at GBMC. Hotel is a well maintained Sheraton with free parking. In the morning, you get USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. Has a walkway to Towson Mall which is filled with upscale stores. Around the corner are numerous reasonably priced restaurants.
The only odd thing was that all the travel sites listed rooms at $130.00. We called directly and were quoted $129 per night. I decided that in this economy I was not paying $129 so I went to Priceline. I bid $60 for a 3.5 star hotel in Towson and got the Sheraton. I mentioned this to the nice fellow behind the desk and he said that many of their guests book through Priceline. Since the hotel was about 25% filled, their corporate price policy made no sense to me.

This is a seedy, grimy, low class hotel. The bedding was threadbare and smelled unclean.. There was a nary a thread between me and the mattress, blanket and pillows. The thought that a common blanket touched the bodies of prervious guests.made my skin crawl.. I couldn't wait to get up and get out.

Solid business hotel with nice fixtures, well appointed rooms, excellent service, and decent hotel restaurant. I stayed here for business and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. The hotel is located across the street from a mall, which makes picking up forgotten items very easy. The location of the hotel is not convenient for downtown Baltimore. Excellent high speed internet access. My one gripe would be the bed, which was not as comfortable as other business hotels I've stayed in. This could be a floor by floor or room by room issue though.

We had a good stay 3 day stay here with easy access to Baltimore (about 30 mins) and D.C. (about an hour or so). The rooms were comfortable...the pool was kind of wierd (all steel frame ?!?). Close to a few restaurants and the mall.

Just went to college orientation with our son. Stayed right next door at the sheraton. Nice staff, everything worked, nice beds. Great deal from priceline on this hotel over 50% off.

Pros: Great Location being attached to the Towson Town Mall, and within walking distance of Goucher, and a lengthy walk/short short cab ride to Towson University. Easy walk to downtown Towson where there is plenty to eat, drink and shop...The hotel will drive you within the area as well! Much of the staff is friendly, attentive.

Cons: Simply, this is a very very worn out hotel. It needs a major major update! If feels like it hasn't been changed in decades. I think they are living on the laurels of location, location, location. Worn out rooms, old air conditioining unit, etc. It feels more like a Holiday Inn with better amenities. Starwood needs to get on the owner and get them to bring this up to Sheraton standards.

In short, if you are aiming to be within good walking distance to downtown or to the 2 universities it is a prime location, however otherwise it is worth staying at the Marriott closer to Towson U, or waiting until they make this a respectable Sheraton.

I booked this hotel to visit Goucher for my daughter's final round of pre-decision college visits. The hotel is very close to Goucher - there are some back streets that will take you right there by car or walking, and even going out to the main road is not far.

We arrived as it started pouring. The hotel garage is a bit confusing, as it shares space with some office buildings and it is not clear where to park. We did figure it out and took the elevator down, then had to run for about 15 feet in the rain to the entrance to the restaurant, which eventually winds around inside the hotel to the front desk. We wound up getting wet that way several times - a small awning or covering would seem to make sense!

In general we found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The people in the restaurant were nice, but the food was at best mediocre with few choices and somewhat overpriced. There are places to eat in the large mall across the street.

The room was fine, and the internet connection for my laptop worked OK. Bed was comfortable. Nothing special about the room, but nothing bad. I couldn't seem to get the computers in the lobby to let me onto the internet or use any of the attached devices, but I didn't have a real need for them and didn't pursue it.

The receipt when you check in said they would deliver USA Today and charge 75 cents unless you refuse it, but we didn't get a paper. In fact, I didn't see a newspaper in the whole place. The next morning I went across the street to the SupraFresh for some muffins, and glanced at a local newspaper - a family of four had been found dead in the Sheraton the day before we got there, and there was no information. NOT what you want to read when you have left your daughter sleeping in the room! I really feel they should have provided some information on check-in along with followups.
