“3rd Visit. Best yet.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

I titled my last review, "a bit uneven." I have to say I have grown to really love this hotel as a home away from home. We have a kid at Loyola so we stay here a lot. This visit the room was on the mall side. Very spacious. The beds were unbelievable nice and all was well.

The staff has always been first rate.

Haven t used the pool in a few visits, which was my big complaint the last time I reviewed this property. Even without that, the hotel has so many plusses. The mall. The easy highway access. The parking. It's just really where we like to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the mall side on an odd floor. That way you don't have to climb the stairs fo...

This hotel is GREAT! My room was very quiet even though the hotel was sold out. The HUGE mall next door is accessible via the sky walk connected to the hotel. It is easy to get to as is right off the highway. The ONLY negative strike I would give would be for the parking. There is abundant parking in the deck if you have a small vehicle but I have a large high top van that would not fit inside the parking garage and their oversize vehicle parking only has 10 spots which, of course, we're taken. I had to park in the parking lot next door. Quite inconvenient! Other than that though I still highly recommend this hotel!

We are happy to know that you enjoyed your time with us. The mall next store is an awesome amenity to have. Many of us enjoy spending our lunch breaks there! I do apologize that there was not any spots left in oversize for you. That must have been a big inconvenience for you.

Thank you again for your comments and we hope to see you again soon!

This was my second time attending an expo at this hotel. The location was very well suited for the conference, but the rooms left much to be desired. The most off putting problem was listening to conversations and phone calls from neighboring rooms. Don't expect privacy here. You can hear right thru the walls.

Other issues were just minor annoyances such as the key not working when I first went to my room and the batteries on the remote being dead, but for such a hefty price tag these shouldn't have been an issue. Fortunately, the staff handled these politely and promptly and as a whole were very accommodating and friendly.

Another concern is the walkway to the mall across the street being wide open to the public. It seems to be a security issue that anyone can walk into guest room hallways without having to go thru a lobby, but from what I could see there is open access to that door at all times.

Last year I stayed at a hotel down the road for a third of the price and will definitely choose that option in the future.

It seems the makeover crew just hasn't made it here yet. The beds are old (and feel old) the decor is very old and they don't even have movie options. Not very up to date.
I didn't eat in hotel but my colleagues did the first night and said it was "awful".

Basically, a good Sheraton, but showing its age. Also, I have to agree with the other reviews about noise which really lowers my rating for this hotel. The walls are not thick, so you can hear your neighbors if they are loud. Noise of voices (normal levels even) from the hallways can be heard through the room door, and door slamming noise (lock mechanism clicking and door thump) is noticeable too from inside the room (I noticed the doors squeak too, which kinda reflects on the hotels upkeep). The halls are narrow and long which adds to this hotel characteristic that can be annoying (keeping my rating low). I guess you get what you pay for.

Rooms have lower ceilings, so the room felt a bit small. I stayed on the Club floor, but seems like all rooms are about the same regardless. My room had two double-sized beds which are not really wide enough for two people per bed, but nice for just one adult or two kids. Furniture is dated and microwave in the room looked cheap. Midsized frig, flat screen, coffee maker and free bottled water - basic stuff, nothing to write home about. Room was good size with two nice soft chairs, dresser for clothes, and a long office desk. Bathroom was adequate, and basic with shampoo and shower gels - but basic grade. Shower in tub, and only one sink. It felt a little cramped though. Bedding was nice, especially four pillows per bed, but the towels were scratchy, no slippers, only one bathrobe..hmmm.

Club floor (12th Fl) has a small Club Room, but then again, nothing to brag about. In fact, it's very small, one of the smallest I ever enjoyed at a Sheraton. Providing the basics, like cold sodas, bottled water, milk, and fruit drinks; some snacks in the evening such as cheese, crackers, fruits and a hot dish, but nothing to write home about. A small selection of teas, coffee, and hot chocolate. Breakfast was very basic too, but gave me a good start and was very convenient just down the hallway. I got complimentary upgrade to a club room as a SPG member; however, the hotel may offer you a deal to upgrade for 30 dollars (but not really worth it, unless you like the Club room access). Each room has its own cooling/heating unit in the wall which was a little loud though. Average sized windows with a nice view towards the back of the hotel minus the car garage.

There is a hotel shuttle that will take you to places near the hotel, and a private limo service to the airport at $65 - not bad price, really. There is a multi-level mall just across the street, so that was convenient for shopping, and the Towson area has have a variety of shops to visit as well. A grocery store in a strip mall across the street; a movie theater, a restaurants all within a short walk or shuttle ride - nice. Again, this hotel is located in the outskirts of Baltimore near two colleges, but would be good for a business meetings in a nice area.

There is a guest laundry which was adequate. Meeting rooms flanked along one side of the hotel, small gift shop, and mult-level parking garage too which I used last time I stayed. The hotel entrance is located off the main streets, so it is difficult to find at first. In fact, the entire hotel looks like an office building rather than a towering hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor towards the back for more quiet.

This hotel needs some serious work. It looks old and uncared for. Front desk staff seems uptight and not at all welcoming.

The vent in the bathroom was falling off and the drain in the tub must have been clogged because the water level took forever to come down after I took a bath at night. When I took a shower in the morning, the temperature would drop very quickly so I had to keep turning the lever to get it hot. Then it would immediately get piping hot. It was either too hot or lukewarm the whole time. Never the right temperature.

The worst part about my hotel stay was the noise. As I lay in bed, I could clearly hear the people next door - every word - as if they were in my room. It wasn't because they were being noisy our loud. They were just having a normal conversation. I don't know how anyone could make walls that allow so much sound to permeate. Even cubicle dividers could protect more privacy than the walls at this Sheraton.

If you choose to stay this hotel, just be aware that your neighbors can hear everything you say or do.

Passing through Towson with a friend, wanting to visit Hampton Historical Site, we hadn't really planned to stay here but it seemed a good deal for a large city hotel. We were very impressed, especially by the friendliness of the staff. They were charming and super-helpful in recommending restaurants and offered us a free shuttle ride to one - except the bus broke down but that wasn't their fault. The room and bathrooms were spacious, if a tiny bit run-down (spotted some peeling wallpaper) and fine for an overnight stay, with a great view of the sunset as a bonus. The fitness room was modern and adequate and the pool (which we didn't try) a nice size. The car parking, in a multi-storey, was secure and easy and reasonable for the location at around $8. Very good shopping nearby - some accessed by a bridge from the hotel and we ended up walking not too far to a pleasant Italian restaurant, a good suggestion from the hotel. Next morning's hotel buffet breakfast was around $13 for all-you-can-eat. The food was average but I'd say that was very pretty good value compared to similar places and the young waiter was delightful. This would be a useful alternative to staying downtown. Will recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor and got a great view.

We are so happy you had the opportunity to experience our hotel during your visit to historic Hampton. Our hotel is an awesome alternative to staying right in the city as we are close to the city and also have so much to offer in walking distance as well. Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and share your pleasant experience with everyone. We always love when our guests have the opportunity to enjoy the local area as you did because it has so much to offer. We are also about to make some major upgrades to our hotel rooms, hallways, and public spaces so we will correct that peeling wallpaper you saw! We do hope you will come back to enjoy these improvements. Thank you again for your time, we will make sure the staff has the chance to enjoy your comments as well! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
