“Gorgeous hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2011

Beautiful boutique hotel as all the reviews state. We booked the paradiso villa and it was perfect. 2 kids downstairs us in the incredible upstairs bedroom. Great pool and beach access (baby monitor range) and private garden.
Restaurant was above average. Service outstanding. No qualms about Eka babysitting one night while we went to nearby Sails for dinner. Nothing too much trouble.

Only warning is that the beach is really not that great for hanging out on. No shade at all, fishing boats literally everywhere but better beach just down to the right.

We decided to book this hotel because of the glowing reviews on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed. It is a lovely small hotel with beautifully decorated bungalows and very pretty gardens. It is situated on the coral beach but also has a smallish but completely adequate pool. My 2 children and 4 others had plenty of room to splash around and have lots of fun.
The bungalows were perfect for a family, a double bed downstairs and 2 singles upstairs. No TV, yeah!!!!!! A fan so you don't have to have the air con all the time, nice outdoor bathroom and very tasteful decor to boot.
Amed is a small fishing town which is where its beauty lies. Quiet and serene , you can really relax here.
We walked to another restaurant (Sails) for dinner which we can highly recommend and the hotel restaurant is quite good too. There are a lot of other restaurants in the area but you may need transport to get to them. My husband hired a scooter/moped and ferried us to a few.
The staff were very attentive but also happy and friendly. We bought some beautiful souvenirs from the small gift shop which were much nicer than the usual touristy wares.
I would recommend Life in Amed to singles, couples and families , a really lovely place to stay.

Myself and 2 friends stayed at Life in Amed for 2 nights wanting to see a different part of Bali to the Ubud Seminyak areas.....The beach was lovely especially the sunrises in the morning. The cottages were beautifully decorated and comfortable and I was so impressed with the attention to detail in everything right down to the complimantary earplugs. I thought this hotel was incredibly good value for money. The food at the little restaraunt was dilicious and very reasonably priced and the staff very helpful and friendly.....
Will definately be back.....

Life in Amed is located closer to Aas than Amed. Make sure you mention it to the taxi driver. Our choice was the standard beach bungalow. At around U$85/night it was a good price for the room. Two story, well, actually a main floor and a small loft with two beds. As a couple it was fantastic; with a family it would be more than acceptable. Very young children might have trouble climbing the stairs to the loft. A bit steep. We were right by the smallish swimming pool, but thoroughly enjoyed the use of the pool during the very hot days. A point to note is that the hotel is advertised as being on the beach. It is much more accurate to state that they are on the ocean. There is no beach to speak of, and no beach to swim from. An annoyance is that the moment you actually step off the property onto the "beach" you will be assailed by some persistent vendors. Even at night when you think they have gone away, note that they are actually just around the corner and will be back the moment you set foot off the property.
The big plus for us was the East bali bike tours; this was a real treat and a highlight of our trip. Great service, great guide, great conversation and a lot of fun. Off the beaten path and we would do that again and again without hesitation. Foodwise, Sail had probably the best cold tomato soup we have ever had; they picked us up and dropped us off without fee or fuss. Food at the hotel is more than adequate, but to be honest the best food we had was at the Blue Moon resort. In our opinion, Life in Amed is a good deal in terms of money/value; that being said, while Blue Moon is not on the "beach" , it is also definitely worth a look.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April in a beach cottage. I was traveling with my parents and my 2 young children (1 and 3). The hotel is very lovely and the beach cottages very tastefully done. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower in the cottage and the front balcony. We ate at the restaurant most of the time and found the food to be very good. I was very excited that they had a nice new baby cot for the baby. I was a little put off that I was charged an extra $10 for each child (including the baby), which I have never encountered before. The beach cottage configuration is perfect for families - a large bed on the main floor and then the loft with 2 double beds. The breakfast was very good - choice of fruit or fresh juice, eggs. It was the first hotel in Bali we encountered that charged extra for things like bacon, but I didn't really mind. We spent most of our time in the lovely swimming pool. Excellent wifi. As mentioned the beach is pebbly and covered with fishing boats, so we only walked on the beach a couple of times. The staff were friendly and it is a really nice hotel, but I am just not sure if we would go back because it is quite a ways to travel and we spent most of our time swimming in the pool.

For me, I didn't find there to be that much to do at the hotel or around with 2 young children. We walked around the village, which is quite poor. My parents did rent a moto for a day and really enjoyed going to the snorkeling beaches - excellent snorkeling. We ate at Sails and Bali Ku just to give us an excuse to leave the hotel and they were both very good (Life in Amed food was of similar good quality) - both restaurants will do free pickups.

Our second stay at Life in Amed was as good as the first. The check in process is a breeze, with all the staff warm and friendly. We had the same room as last year which is very nice. Pool and gardens are well maintained, as are the rooms. Plenty of hot water (unlike our previous hotel in Tuban), open air shower is nice. We had the bulk of our meals at the hotel and the quality is consistently good. New villas are available next door now for larger groups and look good from the outside. I enjoyed two fishing trips with the locals; 5am sail off from the beach, fantastic fun, a highlight for me. Another was visiting a staff member’s home up in the bush and enjoying the vibe of a Kampong. We shared a meal with them and came away better for the experience. We love the area and the people; the village is so unspoilt and has the real Bali feel for us. Life in Amed is cool, well done Sarah.
