“Peaceful, beautiful, and amazing food and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

This place is a gem! My husband and I stayed here for nine days and it really was just what we needed! We came here a couple of years ago and the place is even better now than it was then. We stayed in the impressive new rooms, where we had a shared pool (between 3 rooms, so was perfectly fine), the restaurant next door, and the lovely beach which a two minute walk down the road. It really is a stunning setting - perfect for relaxing. During the days, we would wander down to the beach and snorkel, we went scuba diving at a school 20mins away from Blue Moon (they provide the transport) and we went on a couple of day trips with our favourite driver Ketut Gilang, the most charismatic man you'll ever meet! In the evenings, we would watch the watch the sun set as the little fishing boats returned with their day's catch over a glass of wine and dinner. Paul was even lucky enough to join one of the boats one evening with one of the staff's brothers and we ate the fish he'd caught that evening in the restaurant!
The staff were so friendly and lovely and the food - especially the Balinese dishes - were absolutely delicious. We tried a few local restaurants in the area but the Komang John's cafe was undoubtedly the best. All in all, it was just a lovely stay. I hope it's not another two years before we return again!

We stayed at the blue moon villas for a week, two families with children. We travelled from Sanur in less than three hours, the drive is very scenic. It was heaven, truly relaxing, amazing food, stunning views, and very helpful staff. Highly recommend the snorkling nearby. Gear is available at the hotel. Very childfriendly ! We used local driver Made Wirnaya for all our driving needs, my husband met him at the beach and he is one of the best drivers we have ever had (and we are very seasoned Indonesia mad travellers for over twenty years so we can compare). He just set up his own taxi business in Amed, we would just txt him +6285237809877 when needed. All in all an amazing trip, we will be back in Amed at the Blue Moon (pent house has the best views without a doubt) with Made driving us around.

Room Tip: Pent house has the best views

We had booked ten nights, but realised on arrival, that the hotel was not what we expected. The rooms are amazing and view from most rooms (not garden view-rooms!) is amazing. The pools are quite small, and ours only had sun in the mornings. Also it was right onto the road, and infinity pool overlooking the road without sun was not what we expected. We like to go to other restaurants and to be a bit closer to the beach (from Blue Moon you have to walk down some steep steps to a rather small beach). So after one night we decided to move. If you are only staying a couple of nights the hotel is great. But not for a long stay. The restaurant is wonderful and the food really great - but we want to have the choice to eat other places. We had a little discussion regarding us moving out and how much we had to pay, but agreed on an amount that I felt was okay.

This is our second year in a row staying at Blue Moon and we'd very happily return again. The location is fabulous on top the cliff but still an easy walk down to the beach via steps. It's amazing waking up in the morning and watching the local fishermen returning home from the morning's efforts. The restaurant is great - we ate there every night (we stayed 3 nights). The best part is the staff - so friendly and helpful and welcomed us back like old friends. Heads up: toiletries, apart from soap and hairdryer not supplied but this is not a problem as we bring our own. Would also recommend insect repellent. The snorkelling is very good. If there is wind, just head 5km north the Jemeluk Beach where it is quite protected- there is even an underwater temple. This is probably our favourite place in Bali.

We stayed 3 nights here on our first days in Bali, it was perfect to relax and enjoy the amazing balinese landscapes. The staff was extremely friendly and always available, the food was delicious and the room was really lovely, with an unforgettable view on the sea. We recommend this great hotel to everyone who comes to Amed.

Room Tip: The Blue Heaven is perfect for a couple!

The people that work here as well as the food make this a great location. Although there is no beach within convenient distance, and we upped some cash for a room with an infinity pool and had to share with some beefy Aussies and stuck up French, the service and room quality led to a kind review on my part...plus my wife paid out of her credit card

We stayed at the Blue Moon in the two storey Villa ( Blue Star ) . Its divine with a lovely view across the water and two wonderful horizon pools. I reluctantly left after four days as its not suitable for young children having stairs and ponds everywhere . You are charged a days stay penalty for leaing early if you booked longer which is normal in Bali . If your kids are older than six years or so I see no issues with safety. Dinner was very nice . You can get much better value for food next door at the Aqua Terrace or further to the right up the hill at Deep Blue . The rooms are well appointed, staff friendly and you will not get the loud noise you usually get in Amed staying near the beach so great for couples. You are a good walk from most things here but not too far that its an issue. Its a perfect space to relax. The Balinese Omlettes are lovely for breakfast. The morning brekkie fruit salads were near tasteless all four days so hopefully just a supplier issue. Internet is poor quality when staying in a room higher than the resturant here so bring a book and enjoy.

Room Tip: If you want to splurge, the Blue Angel suites right on cliff edge take some beating
