“Beautiful, tranquil paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Stayed at Jepun Bali Villas last year with my wife and a group of friends. It was an amazing, secluded location in east Bali with several private bungalows and a large "main house". I had a difficult time showering indoors when we returned home! The rooms are beautifully furnished, impeccably clean and offered two shower options. The tranquility of the place is absolute. Awesome amenities available like pool table, infinity pool with swim-up bar and complete gym for a quick workout. Locals would stop by daily offering unbelievable massages onsite(on our timetable) for incredible prices (Ketut is bomb!). The staff was always available to get us whatever we needed and the food was fantastic. I am very adventurous with epicurean delights, but my wife is a bit more particular. The cooks were always able to accommodate us, which was a real delight.
We came here to relax and get away... Jepun was the epitome of lost and "off the grid". Bring a book (turn off the cell phone) and suntan lotion. You won't find a 7-11 anywhere, but forgotten necessities are available in the nearby village. The hiking, scuba diving, motorbike riding are incredible and real local exposure and hospitality are within reach. I think the people here are what really made this trip so special... the staff and locals are so interested and interesting that they made a lasting impression on all of us. The fantastic memories will last a lifetime.

get out and go!

We stayed there early August - rented all 4 bungalos. The location (garden) is beautiful. Bungalos are great if you rent at least 2 (they are located in two groups of two).
What left a little soure taste is everything linked to service. Food was priced according to local hotel standards, but the quality wasn't. You can eat significantly better elsewhere. The pool seems to be loaded with chemicals, so much that half of us could not use it anymore, due to skin issues after the first bath. The staff is available, but nothing they do is without a very clear personal interest. Rather come with your own transportation. Booking it through the hotel is unreliable and costly. One thing that was really disturbing was the "common room". It is the place where guests are supposed to hang out, play cards, watch TV (the only TV of the hotel). The issue is - that is also the place where the staff hangs out all day - and watches (your) TV. It is more their room than yours. There are no alcoholic beverages at the hotel (apart from Bintang beer). So, rather bring your on stuff and stay at the bungalo.
As said in a former comment I read: The hotel lacks the guiding hand of a manager. In the prep of the trip I dealt with Scott. All very smooth. The guy actually never showed his face during the wee. rather stays in Depansar and leaves the entire thing to local staff. And this is where the problems start ...

Hello, This is Scott the owner of Jepun Bali Villas. I am very sorry with regards to your complaints as i take them very serious and have had a sit down meeting with my staff already. We do our very best to ensure all of our guests have a memorable experience here and it sounds like we fell short with you and your guests unfortunately. We will make a couple changes after reading your review which should help us in the future so that others do not have this same experience so for that i thank you for your review. I will mention that i am not always on site to meet the guests which i do think is unusual but when i am in the area i do my best to come by to say hello but during your visit i was recovering from a surgery i had and could not travel anywhere. With regards that we only serve beer, that is not accurate, we have a wine chiller in the main house stocked with wine that is in plain site for all the guests to enjoy. With regards to the staff watching tv in the main house, i agree with you on this as that should not have happened and i can assure you that this will not happen again in the future so i really apologize on behalf of the staff and myself for this. The pool issue i have never heard before from anyone so i am not sure what happened there but we are having a pool expert come up this week to check the pool and have a discussion with the 2 staff that take care of that. The transportation we did our best to take care of your needs for this, i will note that you were here right in the height of the high season and every place was completely full so its not always easy to deal with but i think we did pretty good for that part as i keep in daily contact with my manager of how things are going with the guests and what is going on daily. Also you mentioned you can get cheaper outside from somebody maybe on the road, that is very true and we are no different than any other hotel i believe as there is always someone cheaper outside but there is always some risks in doing so. Again sorry for the problems you had during your stay, we do appreciate you business and stay with us!

Regards

Scott

We had a great time in Amed and enjiy Jepun Villa. The villas were very comfortable. We particulary enjoy our bathroom with the two showers (one indoor and an amazing outdoor one) decorated with rocks and modern sculpture, the good breakfast, and the swimming pool where you can have a drink overlooking the sea and the garden.
The staff was listening to us and gave us advices about the good snorkeling spots.
The few number of bungalows gave us the impression to be at home.

Room Tip: There are only 4 villas overlooking the swimming pool.

You can read my other reviews on this property below, but another FINE VISIT! This time two weeks with friends. Each villa is lovely. . .clean, and well appointed (a rarity in these parts despite what other resorts claim). Magnificent pool time. . . .and the STAFF. . .wow. . .the staff! I consider each of them friends. How often can you say that? More pricy than other resorts in the area, but WELL worth it. Not directly on the beach, but in this part of Amed, right on the beach isn't always best. The beaches aren't white sand, and are often crowded with local fishing boats. That doesn't mean the beaches aren't lovely, just being right on them isn't laws best. Just across the road from the beach, then elevated. . . .like on a pedestal. . .with lovely views. . .cool breezes. . . And QUIET! Away from the countless scooters zooming by. Don't miss Amed. . . And DON'T stay anywhere but Jepun Bali Villas. . . .:-)

Room Tip: All rooms are the same, each with their own gem of a view

I stayed a week at Jepun Bali Villas and love every moment of my post-retirment celebration. The villas are amazing...comfortable, luxurious, tranquil, and set amidst a beautiful hilltop location overlooking the ocean and the infinity pool. The staff was amazing, making me almost feel like a king being waited upon for his every wish! The food was delicious, especially the special meals they made for us from the fresh tuna I caught with one of the local fisherman.

Amed is on the quiet, remote east tip of Bali and if you are looking to relax, chill out, forget about the problems of life, and just slow down, this is the ideal place to do so.

Ask the staff for anything (motor bike rental, fishing guide and boat, restaurants, etc) and they will have the answer.

The landscaping, vibe, and extraordinary details built into making Jepun Bali Villas so exotic and unique were amazing. You could spend the whole week right onsite and be quite happy if you want to do that. But it's also an amazing culture and experience to step outside and meet the wonderful local people. I highly recommend staying here!

Room Tip: All rooms are great, each one a separate private villa "cottage" of its own.

Secluded on the east side of Bali, far away from the madness of nightclubs and heavy tourism of west or central Bali, is Amed - a group of villages with a small but growing support for vacationers that like to scuba dive, visit temples, and simply get away from everything.

Jepun Bali Villas is a small resort that can host eight people in four exquisite and elegant villas. Comfortable and private, these villas are nestled in a resort that includes a pool with a swim up bar, a fitness center, a common room with a kitchen and entertainment center, and an outside dining area. The resort seemed brand new, built and decorated with amazing attention to detail and simply breathtaking.

The friendly staff caters to your every need, making great Indonesian or international meals and keeping the resort beautiful. You can call upon the services of a skilled driver to take you on tours and on shopping trips, or a world class dive master to show you some of the best dive sites in the world. You can also call for special Balinese massages, a special treat you may wish on a daily basis. On our trip we became so fond of the resort staff we felt like we were saying goodbye to dear friends, not temporary acquaintances.

Expenses during our stay were inexpensive and an amazing value - so don't let the cost of traveling to Bali scare you away from this island paradise.

A few important hints - since the resort is located on steep slopes, there are stairs to navigate between the villas and the pool or dining areas - so those travelers that have mobility challenges might need to make a different choice. Also, when making your travel arrangements it is best to leave a few hours drive time to and from the airport on either side of your trip, since traffic can be heavy and take a relaxed, island pace.

I hope someday to travel there again - perhaps with a few days to enjoy the busier side of the island first, then retreat to the quiet pampering and beauty of Jepun Bali Villas.

I spent four nights at Jepun during a 3-week stay in Bali. While most hotels in Bali are more rugged than Western hotels, Jepun was amazing. The property is beautiful, and every detail, from the landscaping, to the fountains, to the gorgeous outdoor shower in the villa has been immaculately planned. It was the perfect place to recharge my batteries. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel completely pampered and surrounded by beauty. The staff could not have been more helpful overall. I felt like a queen!
