“Excellent Bike + Cultural Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

My partner and I spent 4 days in Bali last week, and the East Bali Bike Tour was one of the highlights of the trip. We did the shorter trip and it was excellent. The riding was easy in the sense that it wasn't a lot of uphill (I think the guide mentioned 40% uphill, 60% downhill). However, note that it was quite steep in a few parts, and my hands got quite a workout clutching the brakes! We started at the base of Mount Agung and ended up at White Sandy Beach. What a perfect route! We passed through villages, jungle, and gorgeous rice paddy fields. Our guide, Wayan was wonderful! He stopped often to tell us about certain plants or to let us take pictures or get water. It was only us and one other couple on the tour, so it was very small and personal, which was nice. We got to pass through tons of everyday villages and see what life in Bali was really like. The people we passed along the way were incredibly friendly, smiling and waving and yelling hello as we passed. We had planned to try to do some sort of culture tour while we were in Amed as well, but after our time with East Bali Bike Tours, we felt like we already had! We loved ending up at the beach as well. Since Amed's beaches are not the nicest, we loved that we still got to have some time at a nice for swimming, white, sandy beach. We had lunch at one of the warungs (included in the price of the trip), and then spent some time at the beach. They said usually they spend about an hour at the beach, before taking the vans back to your accomodation, but they said we were free to stay longer if we wished. We spent an hour or two playing in the ocean, laying on the lounges in front of the warung we ate at, and wandering the shops and warungs along the beach. There are a few little shops selling sarongs, dresses, jewelry, and other trickets, but the shop owners are not pushy at all. There are also a few ladies offering massages on the beach as well.
I would highly reccomend East Bali Bike Tours! What a great way to see the country side and have some time at a lovely East Bali beach!

“Good, fun half day trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Myself, husband and 15yo daughter were the only people on this mostly downhill ride from Mt Agung volcano to the White Sands beach. Our guide Wayan Badung was fantastic. He pointed out various things about the local farms and villages and let us continue at our own pace, stopping for photos or a drink whenever we felt like it. Good simple food for lunch at White Sands Beach, but the beach itself was only average, having to compare to Australian beaches is tough! The bikes were basic, but well set up and there was always a support vehicle close by with both the driver and guide acting as bike mechanics when necessary. You don't need to be especially fit to do this ride - just need a sense of adventure and the ability to point and steer! If the ride becomes too much, the guide will walk with you and even push his bike and yours. We were staying in Candidasa and the tour included pick up and drop off to the door.

“A great way to see the real Bali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Our family of four (teenage kids) did the more challenging route and had a great time. The staff are very good and take a lot of effort to make sure everyone is OK (we had a bit of asthma - that wonderful smoky Bali air). For a wet season ride it was pretty sweaty at times and you'll feel the hills (don't believe the all downhill bit!) if you're not fit. That said, we all made it with a great sense of satisfaction and if you haven't seen the Bali of rice paddies and back streets then this is a great way to do it and a good challenge for a couple of lethargic teenagers if you have them. The bikes are acceptable but don't expect state of the art, and a bit more air in the tyres, oil on the chains and tweaking of the gears would have made the ride that bit easier. The "white sandy beach" (yes, apparently translated from the Balinese) is just that and a great place to cool off. The only downside of the whole trip was a dose of Bali Belly for two of us from the Warung at the beach where we had the included lunch (avoid the mie goreng with chicken!). Booking over email worked fine. Pickup from Candidasa was on time. Highly recommended.

“Perfect combination of adventure, culture and sightseeing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

This tour was fantastic. It starts up near Amed and despite the 2 hour drive each way, Komang (who is the owner of the company) agreed to pick us up from Sanur. We were questioning our choice of tour at the start because the track is steep and very rocky, but once we got past the first 10 minutes, it was great. The rest of the group sped off and obviously had no interest in enjoying the sights along the way; to each their own. This left us alone with one of the guides; Gilang. He was fantastic, was happy for us to go at our own pace, stopping to take photos, and for him to tell us about the crops that were growing by the road side. The scenery was beautiful during the ride, as well as during a rice field walk that was included and I definitely recommend. The tour ends at white sand beach which is a great place to stop, have a yummy lunch (included) and relax by the beautiful water. A fantastic day out, great staff and value for money.
