If you like a calm and romantic Place , go there.
We were travelling with our two teenage daughters, they couldnt get along with Ahmed as we did.
For me and my husband it was a fantastic side of busy Bali, still calm and not too many tourists on the east coast. The Baliku is a fantastic place to stay, great snorkeling in front of the hotel, excellent breakfast, nice warung on the beach, best rooms with the best view we had during our three weeks vacation.
Rent a motorbike and have a look yourself around Ahmed, its worth going there for a couple of nights , even its quite a way to drive from the airport or the other tourist spots on Bali.

We stayed here earlier in the year. The rooms were spacious and very well furnished in the balinese style. We ate in the restaurant several time and the quality of food was spot on with great service, the grilled tuna fish a favourite.

Breakfast in the morning was a treat with egg, grilled bacon, sausage, tomato and toast, coffee and a lovely view.

We were lucky in that there was a beach party during our stay just a few steps to the beach from the hotel.

We will certainly be returning and thank you for an awesome vacation.

My husband and I just left this haven. The food was great, the staff were the cream of the crop and the rooms were clean, cute and had the best views in Bali. Loved the pool and our walk through the village. The restaurant was ultra accommodating and after trying a good amount on the menu, i can say that they have been well trained. Now that we are in Candidasa, we are super disappointed with everything. We were spoiled at Baliku. We only had an issue where we lost power at 3am on our last night and it was due to the power bill not being recharged. Also, if you are not a smoker, beware. We were lucky that there were high winds during our stay, because on the last day we got lots of smoke wafting into the room. Plus people were smoking everywhere. Don't let this deter you from the resort, just keep it in mind if you are sensitive.

Room Tip: Room 2 is great!

We absolutely fell in love with this place! So peaceful, great diving/snorkeling, and the food at the restaurant was beautiful. We travelled with three kids and they were never bored, between snorkeling at the Japanese Wreck across the road, to using the pool or the many games the resort had on offer, we all enjoyed our stay there and will definitely return again next time.

Located in Aas village directly opposite to the Japanese wreck. Excellent snorkeling from the beach. Stunning view from the room and the terrace and I like the candles prepared in the night for a romantic ambience. There are not many choices of food around Baliku, but the staff were kind enough to offer us a free ride to the near-by Lipah for dinner. You can easily negotiate for a price with the local people to take you back by motorcycle. The only feedback is that you do not get a home feeling as staying in a small and intimate B&B. You get more of a resort feel in the service though the number of room is not many.

Our stay at Baliku was awesome front to back. We loved it. Baliku was the "SCUBA diving leg" of a 3 leg trip in Bali -- Seminyak, Baliku in Amed, and Ubud. And Baliku/Amed was really the highlight of our entire trip.

Okay, the breakdown:

Diving - This was the main reason we came. We really wanted a resort with an integrated dive shop, instead of the hotel farming it out to a local shop. And we had an incredible time. Our new Aussie friend Murray runs the shop along with his buddy Nico and "Wayan" the shop's helper. We hit the U.S.S. Liberty, of course. Saw some local dive sites. And Murray and Nico planned a trip to Nusa Penida island so we could swim with the GIANT Manta Rays. (We included a pic of one in our review). I couldn't recommend these guys more. If you're a diver, you know that half the fun of a diving trip are the people you meet and Murray and Nico became our buds, not just our divemasters. A++

The Resort - Baliku is literally the last resort along the stretch in Amed. At first on the drive in we were like "Holy crap how much further is this?" But once you arrive you realize that you've found one of the most peaceful areas in Amed. Quiet, right on the edge of genuine villages -- Baliku gives you a slice of real Bali right next door. We rented some motorbikes and went roaming through the hills East of Amed driving through small villages going about their day. Stunning. The food was great, the service was great. We loved it.

The Room - From what I'm told all the rooms overlook the ocean so you're in good shape no matter what. We arrived right before the main tourist season so we got to pick from one of two rooms -- both were awesome. We'd just lounge on the big daybed outside the room and chill out and let the ocean breeze lull us into a mid day nap. Loved it. The room itself is largely taken up by the big bed and it's a smidge on the dark side, but if you came to Bali to stay in your room -- well -- that's no fun. :)

All in all we loved Baliku and Amed. Highly recommended! If you go, say hi to Murray and Nico for us. And tell them you want to go to Nusa Penida!

Room Tip: Honestly, when we arrived they gave us a choice of two rooms and we had a tough time choosing. Both...

For those travellers who wish to see something a little different in the way of scenery on the island of Bali, I suggest a journey for two or three relaxing nights to Amed, on the far east coast. If you haven't been there, it is quite different again to the rest of the island.
Amed is made up of many coastal bays of black sands and hundreds of bright coloured fishing boats, and to see these fishing boats returning with their catch at sunrise, is quite something again.
The Baliku Hotel is at the extreme south end of Amed and the rooms and dining are excellent. Good location for snorkling (immediately in front of the hotel) and nearby scuba diving, with a short journey north to Tulamben, to dive the wreck of the US Liberty (the local dive shops at the site itself, are good value) is an even better reason to venture to this remote coastal area.

Room Tip: Recommend the Family Suite (includes the adjoining room) and lounge terrace, immediately above the D...
