“Nice stay but!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Last month I visited kanyakumari for a day. My friend had booked me in Sparsa. We were given a friendly and warm welcome with a garland of shells as we entered into the hotel. We were provided with a beautiful room on the first floor facing the sea. The rooms were good with beautiful pieces of antique furniture, very spacious, nice and clean. Breakfast was not upto the mark. I asked for dosa and was provided a white dosa, the tawa was not hot to make it brown. Less choices in the breakfast spread. The hotel is slightly away from the town centre, a walking distance from the same. Everything was good until we asked for a taxi to go to Nagercoil the next day to catch a train. The hotel quoted Rs 2200 for the trip which normally costs Rs 550 if you hire a taxi from outside the hotel. When asked for the price difference the hotel staff could not give a proper answer. With all this the hotel could not arrange for a taxi. My stay for a day during off peak season costed me Rs 6000 per day. Looking back it makes me think if it is worth staying in this hotel??

Dear Mr Ralph,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Sparsa Resort during your recent visit to Kanyakumari.

We are glad to know that you found the resort to be good and that you enjoyed your stay.

Have noted your feedback on Dosa and necessary corrective action has been taken. We have increased the buffet breakfast spread recently but yes we cannot compare it to that of a city deluxe hotel.
As for the taxi what we provide are deluxe a/c cars and cannot be compared to local taxis available outside as the quality differs completely and also for the reliability and back in case of any situation which a local taxi does not provide our charges are higher.

Thank you once again and hope to see you soon in our other sparsa hotels..

i stayed this friday 5th july for one nite with my friends and had a very bad disappointing experience staying at the sparsa..while staying there that night my money got stolen from my room. me and my friends were shocked as we were just right outside our room and our money got stolen..on complaing this to the reception the night duty manager took no step in helping us..it seems the staff were not at all worried about their customers problem..they simply told that it was our problem and that their hotel cannot do anything...the worst was that even the GM did even care to speak to us about what happened..the staffs at the sparsa from out side seem to be friendly but only when you have real problems staying there you will know their true attitude..stay at sparsa but be careful of your belongings and the staff...

Heard a lot of good reviews about sparsa so decided to give it a try. Booked through a online portal for 3 days ... The check -ins were quite fast ( read few reviews about slow check-in process)
They welcome you with a seashell garland and a welcome juice , which is a experience in itself .was allotted room 218 on the second floor ... Rooms are of average size which can be compromised for the stunning view of the sea from the room.

Bathrooms are also small, A lot of thinking and care has been taken to make sparsa eco friendly from the Room Number boards ( made of wood) , to Dustbin in room ( wood) , clay bottles for shampoo and oil in Bathrooms an excellent initiative , Kudos to the sparsa team.

Aura is the inhouse restaurant at sparsa and serves mostly north indian and south indian seafood. The food is excellent , You get complimentary breakfast which consists of all possible southindian dishes and a variety of western breakfast items to choose from.

The Lawn at sparsa is well maintained do make sure to take stroll and enjoy the winds after dinner.

The room service was quick , average time is 20 minutes for delivery.

Ever smiling hotel staff is an add on to the sparsa experience.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Few Issues that i faced

The AC in the room was old and was not working properly had to wait for the maintenance person to turn up , who knew nothing not even how to operate the remote :-(

Saw at-least 2 young kids in the house keeping department , the management should turn a blind eye to this fact , as we Indians are generally criticized for child labour and sparsa is frequented by western tourists too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall i was extremely satisfied and me and wife decided to stay for one more day and the reception made the necessary arrangements in few minutes.

My Next stay in Cape is definitely with Sparsa.

Room Tip: Pool side rooms can noisy so if you are looking for a quite and peaceful stay ask for the rooms on t...

Recently we had a get to gether of my Husband's college 29th and 30th June,2013. It was damn good experience which every one will cherish for their life time.
WE had apick-up facility form Sataion and Driver was waiting for us with Plackard with a warm smile which we felt very good as someone was waiting for our arrival. To our great surprise, an astonishingly arousing welcome was extended to each and every member of the team (including kutty children) by the staff of The Sparsa that made the occasion more graceful and memorable. Yes...the entire team was garlanded one by one by the Traditional Maalai made up of rare sea-shell pieces that are uniqued with Kanyakumari alone. Kids were surprised and keeping them as souvenir and even the elders enjoyed the warm welcome as if we are the VIP. Thanks for SPARSA.
The very sight of the mouth watering menu threw away all thoughts of dieting, atleast for one day.Apart from the buffet items, the Sparsa staff cordially responded to our calls and gave us whatever we asked, whether it was in the menu or not. It was this unusual service extended to our guyz that caught our attention.

Swimming pool is crystal clear. No dust or chlorine smell from the pool water. There was a guard in duty at the pool so we felt a bit safe as there were many kids and few they knew to swim while others not. A kind suggestion for the management would be (believe they will heed to this) - please have some more tubes so that small kids and elders who doesn't know swimming can use the same.Kids enjoyed throughly in the toddler's pool.

Most of the rooms in first floor and second floor have SEA-VIEW through window rom room's window, sunset and sunrise cannot be seen but defintely a beautiful pictersque is guranteed even we managed to find peacocks in the campus in the mornings. the sunset point was easy accessible.

In the evening, one can walk along the cement-pavement built alongside of the sea-shore just in front of this resort. Note that you cannot get into the sea-shore from in front of this resort.

They have more indoor games like chess, carrom, pool table and table tennis, GYM was also available and more important is well maintained. there was a well maintained Lawn. Good place to have a get-to-gether and group visit to Kanayakumari.

Big loads of Applause to :
1. In-house members who were handling people with a big smile and patience
2. The service
3. Management

Finally to conclude Check-out experience was simple and just quick. Overall good experience and enjoyed staying here.

Room Tip: Choose a room which has a sea view

I was a bit skeptical about how good the resort would be when I booked, despite all the good reviews. But after staying there for 2 full days I have to say Sparsa resort was awesome and is the best in Kanyakumari, If you go to KK then you should stay here.
The service from the time we entered till we packed and left was very good, everyone was friendly and helpful.
The food was very good. The buffet spread was impressive, while not a very grand spread, it pretty much kept you stuffed till it was time for lunch :) Even lunch and room service food was very good. We had the malai kofta which usually is a disappointment in most places, surprisingly here it was very good. My mother who does not like eating restaurant food was really enjoying the food here.
The facilities are very good from the swimming pool, the children's play area, the indoor games.
The space within the resort is quite large and is nice to take a casual stroll and spend quality family time. The proximity to the sea, meant we could take a walk down a number of times. Most places are close to visit and the resort managed to get us a very friendly auto driver who took us around - and at a very reasonable price.
The place is well maintained and neat.
Special appreciation to the manager on the day we were checking out. We had a train in the evening and didn't have other travel plans so I requested if he could allow a really late check out and he was kind enough to agree.
We were a family of 7 including a child and each one of us had a wonderful time. Just sitting outside near the pool or taking a stroll around the campus was refreshing.
The weather did help, given that it was drizzling or raining.
Only negatives, to keep the review balanced, would be the room service does take a tad longer and there were just too many flies outside the room - but guess this was to do more with the continuous rain.

This hotel is a good hotel in Kanyakumari. We saw many hotels around but ultimately we found this one is the best for staying. Located with good view of sea and calm place. Lobby is welcoming. Rooms are decent but have scope of improvement. There is minimum plastic used, lots of natural things like paper bags, etc are used. Even shampoo in toilet is in ceramic bottle. That's nice. Bed size is slightly small, but okay for a short stay, needs improvement in room lightning. View from room is practically same from all rooms. Check manufacturing dates before using mini bar and bottle of water which is kept in room. Morning breakfast is good, but dinner is terrible. Service is extremely slow and they cannot cope up if there is too much of crowd. For dinner they have choice of Punjabi food, no traditional South Indian food available in night. Punjabi food is really terrible, the recipe that they use is not up to the mark. Try herbal soup which is good. Good place for short stay. More better hotels required in Kanyakumari.

Room Tip: Front side rooms are better than rear.
