This hotel was the best we stayed in on our two-week trip around central Kerala. It's quite expensive - relatively speaking - but you get so much for your money. The whole hotel is made up of an old colonial residency and as such each of the seven gorgeous bedrooms are unique. We were actually given the honeymoon suite when we arrived but unfortunately had to move after the first night - the bathroom had an 'open shower' (ie a hole cut out of the ceiling) so that you feel as though you are outside but unfortunately the mosquitoes decided to take advantage of this when I was in there. If you don't mind the odd mosquito you would love it. No fuss was made when we requested a change and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring that we were happy and comfortable.
The water is safe to drink and is replenished in your room on request, the pool is gorgeous and the restaurant was the best we had been to in Kerala. It was wonderful to be sitting down in the courtyard at sunset and ringing the handbell to be served a pre-dinner beer.
On our last night the hotel staff left a heart-shaped string of jasmine flowers on our bed which was a really thoughtful touch.
Great hotel, great staff, wonderful food and a stunning location on the beach front. If you are staying in Alleppey and can afford it you really shouldn't miss this hotel.
