I stayed in one of the cottages at Palmy Resort for two nights during my time in Alleppey. Their cottages are simple, quaint and homely.
The rooms are spacious, beds and sheets are clean, the bath is big and has a shower (though there's no hot water, however giving the average temperature in Alleppey, this isn't much of a problem). There are nets above the beds to keep mosquitoes out when you want a good night's sleep and nets on all windows, so though there are giant mosquitoes outside, they can only get in if you leave the door to the cottage ajar.
Bigi Mathews, who runs Palmy Resort seems kind and helpful. She'll cook you a traditional breakfast if you ask for it and if not, you have the option of eggs and toast. She can organise a boadride at the government approved standard rate for you, book you an ayurvedic massage at Sreekrishna Ayurveda Panchakarma Centre (it's recommended by the Lonely Planet) and organise a cab for you to be picked up/dropped if need be. She's a great host!
Palmy Resort cottages are surrounded by greenery. Each cottage has a hammock hung outside on trees; an excellent way to relax, take in the scenery and unwind.
