It is a new property.

This has to rate the absolute best, if you're interested in a private villa, away from "civilization". 'Tis a bit out of town. Travelled with another couple.

Got 2 bedrooms (the place has 3) and had the whole place to ourselves, complete with our own private cook - Chitra - and meals to order. She even gave us lessons in Kerala cuisine, especially "prawns masala to die for". Arranged Candlelight Dinner out on the verandah. Stayed here 3 nights.

They also arranged a 2 bedroom houseboat for 2 night/3 day houseboat extended tour further south to Thakazy. Another must. Their houseboat is a bit smaller than many others and so it traverses many of the lesser travelled canals. The boat picked us up right at the villa. We wanted a more basic type of boat, and that is what we got, rather than the suped up luxurious ones. Kingfisher lagers on the deck!! Also, enjoy the "cool fresh air" of the lakes and canals during the day and only AC at night to sleep.

And arranged a one-day car trip in a clean ac SUV with english speaking driver to take us to the "old communist coir factory" in Mararikulam (still the old-fashioned way it has been for decades, as long as it lasts), Marari Beach and a lovely sunset dinner at the "Chakara Restaurant" in Raheem Residency, Alleppey Beach.

Nice to be waited on FULL TIME and yet have total privacy at night without staff - indeed with "skinny dipping" in the private pool after dark.

We stayed in this recently-available property for one night only. What mistake! If we had realised what a lovely location and comfortable base it was we would have triedto stay for the whole week. The lakeside location is perfect: you can take an evening swim and eat your dinner on the veranda whilst watching the sun set and the fishermen set out on the lake.
The rooms are large, very clean and well equipped, including the bathrooms, which have constant hot water. Chitra, the cook / housekeeper, couldn't do enough for us, and her cooking gave us he chance to sample the Kerala cuisine of the area, and plenty of it! The other staff were charming, and, as none of them live on-site, we were left with complete privacy at night.
There is a lot to do in the area, and visits and activities can be arranged. There is a small motor boat which can be booked, and the villa is opposite an unihabited island which is a nature reserve.
The chance to chill-out, be waited on hand and foot and have complete privacy to enjoy the beautiful garden, lakeside and pool made this an exceptional experience, and we can't wait to go back.
