“A perfect stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

A very brief walk from the beach and a short auto ride to the Alleppey boat wharf and bus station Villa Brook is an ideal place to stay when en route to the Backwaters from Alleppey.

Paul operates the accommodation upstairs from his CA Firm's offices and so is around day and night to provide expert advice about where to eat and what to do.

Clean room, good AC and fan, hot shower, hearty Keralan real fast of omelette Marsala and dosa with toast and tea - a perfect stay for the price!

Villa brook is a very good homestay at walking distance from Alappuzha beach. The owner himself came to meet us on our arrival and was very cordial. The room was compact and cosy with good air conditioning. There is a nice little balcony for every room. The only issue with the room was that it can get a bit noisy during the day because of the movement of traffic on the adjacent road. We had our dinner from there (food is made to order) and found the food to be tasty home cooked fare. The overall feel we had from staying here was more like staying at a close friend's place rather than at a hotel. Compared to other choices available around, Villa Brook is very well priced as well making this an excellent value for money stay.

This very small hotel over the top of an accountancy business is a short auto ride from the station, walking distance of the beach and a number of restaurants and a cheap auto ride from town. It is right on one of the numerous canals. We were welcomed on arrival by the owner and were able to check in early. The A/C rooms were clean and well appointed but the mattress was very hard. It was a bit noisy during the day but this calmed down at night. Breakfast was OK.

We came here straight from the airport for 2 nights to start our two week stay in Kerala. The hotel is very clean, with smart rooms, effective AC and very accommodating hosts. Everything from the gate locking time to breakfast is centred around the guests requirements.

Because we wanted to stay for two nights, it was nice to choose a place like this that is nearer to the beach. Whilst not a beach destination, the beach certainly seemed like a nicer place to be in the evening, away from the bustling town and heavy traffic. The locals all seem to flock there to watch the sunset on the vast sandy seafront.

Free WiFi was available although it didn't reach into our room - but was fine in the common space. Only reason for going 4 rather than 5 was the beds were a little hard as they had thin 2" mattresses. That said, we slept well.

The rooms were a good size and very neat and clean. Hot and cold running water. The balcony was a welcome feature.

Would recommend this smart, clean place for anyone who wants to be slightly away from the bustling town centre.

I stayed here with my partner in December 2012. Paul the manager really went out of his way to help us, giving us his map of the area to use and arranging a very early breakfast. It is a spacious, clean and modern hotel, we where especially pleased to find it had a really good shower and a small balcony where you could watch the world go by.

LOCATION 9/10
This homestay is located near Aleppey beach. It's quite a ride to downtown and the jetty, but then again rickshaws and taxis cost next to nothing. We only stayed for one night, but I assume being close to the sea is nice if you're staying longer. Good restaurants nearby.

ROOMS 9/10
Our room was well-appointed, with decent beds, TV and aircon and one of the nicest bathrooms I ever had in an Indian homestay. Slept well, despite distant noise from the street.

FOOD 9/10
Good breakfast - you can choose between Indian and Continental, both were great. Only downside: sitting inside.

SERVICE 10/10
Very friendly owner and staff, perfect English and good advice.

PRICE/QUALITY 9/10
More expensive than many other homestays, but definitely worth the extra buck.
