“Indraprastham Houseboat - Cheater Number 1”

We booked their houseboat during our Kerala Trip. Our check in & check out point was Finishing Point Alleppey. But they picked us at Kovlam & drop there as well. They transfer us to other houseboat. They have 3-4 boats (As I heard) and they are taking more than 20-25 bookings and transfer them to other houseboat on commission. They don't pick the phone after booking. No sightseeing, No entertainment. They will stop the boat at 5:00 in the evening. You will feel cheated.

We stayed for one night on Elite Houseboats. It cost 90,000 rupees for two people in a boat with twin beds.
The boat was generally clean with one bedroom, bathroom and meals area at the front. It also had lounges to sit in at the very front of the boat, which were great to sit in to take in the scenery.
The captain walked over picked us up from the finishing point, where the boat docks. He didn't speak English at all, nor have our names on anything so we had no idea if we were on the right boat until Joffy (the owner) called us. It was very awkward. At times during the journey he was almost rude.
The beds do not have a top sheet and the blankets are not washed each journey. Given the heat and insects, you need a top sheet for coverage and hygiene.
We stopped a very long time for lunch which seemed unusual given there is limited boating time but moved on once I enquired into sitting still for so long.
We had to continually ask for drinks.
The chef was amazing, cooked wonderful meals.
The end of the trip was disappointing. We were told by Joffy we would be dropped off at the finishing point. They tried to take us 10 kilometres away to another area where we would have to ay more for a taxi to get back to town. I insisted speaking with Joffy - it was only then they took us to finishing point - which was mahem. We had to climb through 3 boats to get back onto shore, and it was quite dangerous. They didn't carry our bags and my friend fell and hurt herself. Other companies had speed boats to take their guests back to the mainland to avoid this. For the price we payed we are surprised they did not.
I id send my feedback to Joffy, who was excellent in communication before we paid, however he didn't reply at all which was disappointing.
With some fine tuning this could be a great trip.
The boat is safe. Take insect repellant, camera and HIGHLY recommend you buy BEER to take on the boat BEFORE you get n as it's 3 times the price once on the boat.
There is a public bus that will take you from town (not far from the finishing point) to just south of Fort Cochin, which is a much cheaper option than a taxi. You can then get a taxi from there to Fort Cochin. Its very easy.

Just finished a luxury tour of Kerala that Elite Houseboat organised for us. Having read some recent reviews we were nervous about how the trip would go and the state of the accommodation but everything went well.
They picked us up from our hotel in Kochi at the time agreed and the hotels they recommended were great. We finished the tour with a night on a house boat just the two of us sailing through the backwaters which was a very relaxing experience after the Indian roads. The only issue we had was with the car which was underpowered for climbing the hills round Munnar but Mr Joffy was one hand to sort that out and we finished our tour by being dropped at our hotel in Kovalam. Mr joffy is very good at organising the trip around what you want to achieve. Tips would be to give clear instructions on what you want to see to the driver so the days are planned out and agree what you are going to eat and drink on the houseboat- you can purchase things along the way.

I booked HB through " Paradise Tours ". They in turn arranged HB via " Chittadil tours "
Both of them cheated us. They booked a pathetic HB named " CHACKOCHI " . Everything inside was pathetic..Food, Bedroom, Bathroom... Worn out windows in bedroom, Curtains which do not close properly, unwashed bedsheet, blanket, only 1 towel, no toiletries, unclean toilets, tasteless food, no charging points !!!
It had a psycho cook named Sebastian & stupid driver Santosh !!!
After this mental torture once boat starts you remain at their mercy. In evening it parks itself on shore by 6pm..Then onwards till morning 8 am it remains there. Moreover A/C starts only from 9pm-6am. It is the only Muhurat for A/C that too for ours it kept switching ON/ OFF.

Torture doesnt end here..there are lot of mosquitoes, insects on boat after sunset so neither can you close yourself in room from 6-9 pm since no AC nor you can sit out in open !!!
Inspite of this mental torture these Shameless cook & Driver ask for Tip.

I would request owners of Paradise tours & Chittadil tours to pls visit there once & experience one of its kind HB in universe by themselves 1st before providing them to guests !!!

Totally waste of time & money...Just avoid it blindly !!!

Room Tip: Pls Avoid it Blindly instead visit a good resort which takes guests on a cruise in evening as a comp...

I have to admit that I was nervous about this part of our india holiday but so far Indus Travel had not put afoot wrong and this was no exception. At first it takes a while to adjust to the accommodation for the next two nights but Air con in the bedroom and a charger for my iPhone together with the charm of our Guide/captain/chef Regu put as at ease. The first part of the backwaters are very dirty but after an hour it becomes more peaceful and beautiful. It is the perfect way to unwind after 14 days sights seeing. There are some horror stories with these boats on the Back water but The Sauvar Nigam from Far Horizons is definitely an exception. There was only two of us with a crew of 4 that could not do enough, the food was amongst the best we have eaten even topped an expensive meal in the Oberoi . Only comment a couple of deck chairs with sunbrella would make it even more comfortable. Without doubt one of the highlights. They only have one of these boats so book early

Room Tip: The boat hd two doubles ours was the forward one so you could just hear activity in kitchen at 6

Have read lots of reviews that have been negative about houseboats in the Kerala Backwaters. We waited til we got to Alleppey to book a boat as we wanted to see them first. We liked Antony straight away and Vinod was so welcoming and lovely we booked for two nights. Great decision - Moncy and Vinod looked after us very well and Vinod's cooking was a highlight of our six week trip in India. We did have a small drama, but Moncy and Vinod worked efficiently and quickly to solve it. We thoroughly recommend this boat and Mr Josekutty Joseph at IMS Tours (hope I have spelt his name right).

We have been to the boat for a family vacation. The staff are very courteous and helpful but as far as our personal preference is concerned I feel that it is better to go for a half day cruise rather than spending a night Bcoz u have to spend the evening 6 to morning 6, a full 12 hours just inside the boat and watching TV etc Bcoz the boat open area were covered to avoid insects. It's tough to spend the time over there but for a half day visit it's a awesome experience.

Regarding cheating by the management,

We have booked a one room deluxe boat for our privacy but they have upgraded us to a premium category boat but that was a 3 room boat and we have to adjust with the 2 other family but the same has not been hide from us and not to any of the other family.
