Akkarakalam Memoirs has quite a lot going for it and if it could just do a bit better in some areas, it really would be great. Lovely location and we had nice walks around the village life on the canal banks, and a nice touch was being taken out for a couple of hours meander round the canals in their motor boat sipping kingfisher and watching the sunset. However, two things in particular are a bit of a letdown - firstly, our room had very little natural light and all the dark furniture left it feeling a bit like a cell, and secondly, the food was really not half as good as the other meals we'd had round Kerala. The waiting staff etc are doing their best to provide great service, but I think the management need to look at brightening the place up a bit and sorting out the kitchen in order to make the best of the place.
