“Close it down!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2009

The animals look miserable. The habitats the animals live in are too small, not enough shade, not natural or comfortable for them at all. This place should be shut down.

“Worth seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2008

My family and I visited the Zoo and had a really good experience. The price to get in is very reasonable, despite the first impression upon visually inspecting. The zoo appears to be older and needs some cosmetic work, but as we walked through, we were more than pleasantly surprised. It has a very laid back attitude, the animals are clearly visible, even when they are resting, which made for some great pictures. We did not take the train ride, but later wished we had, and I would recommend doing so if you do visit - it's only $3 more. The gift shop was a little disappointing and, in my opinion, a bit overpriced for what little merchandise they did have. Overall, I would recommend that if in the area, it does make for a nice visit, especially if you have children.

“Unbeatable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2008

The zoo from the out side looks a bit run down but it has gone through every huricane since Ivan with little buget for repairs yet it is still the most friendly zoo i have ever been to. They have apropriate theams, landscapes, and animals. Not to mention you can get very close to animals and birds can roam free. If you ever go make sure you go in the winter because all over the park they have christmas time. If every one just donated a dollar a piece i think the park could make the repairs it needs and open all of the park again.

“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2008

Animals are in tiny cages in horrible conditions. VERY small zoo. I can't believe I gave them money to put a Cheetah in a closed in cage the size of a small studio apt.

“Up close and personal experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2007

Park entrance was pretty cheap and so was the train tickets. I was suprised at how close and friendly the animals are. A lot of animals(safe ones) have free range of the park, so its really cool to take pictures with them. Also the giraffes can get close which was really cool too. The zoo needs some basic repairs, but I went about a year ago and it looks so much better now; they are making good progress. They have a few more new exhibits, too. It also suprised me at how big it was! The park is so much bigger than it looks from Hwy. 98. it goes on forever with a huge boardwalk. I had a WONDERFUL time and I recommend stopping by if you get the chance.
