A nice little afternoon trip from the Pensacola area. As others have said, don't expect a large metropolitan size zoo. The snack bar serves lackluster food, and the train sounds like the wheels haven't been greased in years, but the downsides are outwieghed by ease of access, and the interaction with the animals. Feeding the giraffes, as well as the standard petting-zoo style animals, is sure to be a hit with little kids. As well, forking out a dollar at entry will get you a "budgie stick"(it's a popsicle stick with birdseed on it), will allow you to feed the parakeet in a large walk-in bird cage.
Keep in mind, you wont be able to see the hippos, or gorillas, unless you ride the train.
