“Nice lodge but be prepared for the night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012 via mobile

This tented lodge is exquisite with wonderful views of Lake Manyara. The people were nice and the food was good.  Despite it being nice and comfortable, it still is a tented lodge (ie. a very big camp - not a building). So be prepared to hear all sorts of noises during the night - remember you're sleeping in a park. My wife was terrified and could not sleep. She woke me up and we spent a good 2 hours trying to decipher all the noises until we called reception asking them to control our tent. They did very quickly. I'm not sure I would go back despite all the nice things.

We only stayed at Maramboi for 1 night, but it was absolutely perfect. The tent is large and spacious and sitting on the porch the view was outstanding with animals to be seen walking and eating in the distance. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The entire lodge is well appointed. The meals that were served was delicious and having the choice to select your own lunch box from the buffet was also a good experience. The views from the tents and the main lodge area is breath-taking. I highly recommend this camp and when next in the area will stay there again.

Just stayed at Maramboi for 2 nights at the start of our 8 day safari. Everything about lodge was lovely. The food was served buffet style which was plentiful, fresh and delicious. We didn't eat lunch there but they provided us with a very good boxed lunch for our all day game rides. The tents were very big and had all the amenities. Beds were clean and very comfortable and we didn't have any bug problems. The setting was beautiful and we saw animals on the way to and from the lodge everyday. We would definitely recommend Maramboi and return if we get the chance.

Tented lodges always are something special. It feels like you are sleeping directly in nature.
Maramboi is a very good one at that: zebra and wildebeest were grazing directly in front of our tent. Amazing experience.

Pool area has great view over the animals grazing in the plains and wildlife around Lake Manyara. having a drink with this view is definitely unforgettable.

Food may not be the highest standard: buffet style with limited options, but you have to remember you are in the middle of nowhere.

In case you get cold at night: extra blanket is available in the small cupboard in the room.

All in all a great place to stay during your safari to both Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the begining of a 10 day Safari through Tanzania. we loved every minute of our stay , it was very close to Tarangire national park and virtually in Lake Manyara NP.

Our tent was very clean and comfortable, shower had good pressure and nice and hot. We had a great little deck where we sat with a local beer and watched the Zebra and wildabeest right out the back about 10 meters away!!! The nice thing about these tents are they are elevated off the ground, which makes it feel a little safer. The tent was very large and had plenty of room to spread out

On our second night our guide had purchased a fresh piece of goat at a local market and the staff prepared it speacial for us and our guide only! We enjoyed the goat with some Ungali and local wine! The staff of course got to enjoy some of the goat , but not the rest of the guests!!

The staff did arrange a "bush walk" on one of afternoons. The walk was neat, it wasn't anything special, the "guide" was simply a member of the hotel staff he was mainly there for "protection" wasn't very informative. We simply walked from the hotel out to the edge of the Lake, which couldn't get too near because it was too muddy. It was nice to walk somewhat close wildabeest and zebra and it was good to get out of the vehicle and move a bit

Overall great stay and next time we are back to this area I will request to stay here.

Located between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, so a convenient base of operations for both – about 2 hours from Arusha. Rooms are very spacious semi-permanent tents on raised platforms with nice baths & spacious showers. Meals are served buffet-style in the open-air lodge, which also has bar area, spacious deck and pool. Food exceeded expectations. Fantastic sunsets with view of Lake Manyara & mountains and lots of birds & night noises.

We stayed here while visiting Tarangire Park, and what a lovely haven we found it to be! The "tents" were nothing short of amazing and the lodge was exactly as you would imagine a tented camp to be in Africa.

The beds were masive and comfortable and the showers had good pressure. The rooms were clean and well done considering they were supposed to be tents.

I found the staff nice, but not very relaxed and they didn't seem to want to interact much with the guests. I also found the coffee quite terrible here.
