“This camp has it all.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

We arrived at Lake Burunge after a very long and very bumpy drive from Amboseli. None of us was feeling too chipper, but 5 minutes with the manager and a great "moon" shower soon put us back on track. The dining and lounge area has an attached deck that has spectacular views of the lake. The lighting for meals is a little dim in the evening so you need to ask what your looking at in the buffet line. The food was very good and had some local staples like ugale. Excellent breakfasts as well. We stayed in the lodge rooms, not the tents. The rooms are a little out of date, but they have a great shower and the beds are very comfortable.

As our safari driver was driving us to this camp, the dirt road was not clearly defined and we truly wondered where we were headed. After 30 mins. of weaving without any major landmarks, we arrived at this beautiful destination.
The camp is located with tremendous views and the entryway into the lobby and dining room is absolutely gorgeous.
We loved our permanent tent, spacious and clean. Staff was always attentive. Loved our security guards, as they were always on the premises to escort any guest. The bows and arrows are for real!!!

This camp is bit far from main gate of the Tarangire National Park but worth the drive. Setting of the camp is really beautiful and peaceful. People who works in this camp is super nice and very helpful. Our group wished they could have stayed here few days instead of just one night.

They carry your luggage to your tent and gives you a quick orientation of the tent cabin. The tent cabin is very comfortable. They provide bottle water for your teeth brushing. The water for sink and shower has an odor which seems to dissipate quickly. It can come out brownish at times. The water for the toilet is brown.

They set the table for meals for your group and your guide. The tasty meals are buffet with meat and vegetarian options. The meals are eaten on the deck under the stars.

This was our second favorite of the 8 night safari we were on.

Excellent tented lodge overlooking Lake Burungi. Spacious rooms with solar panels to heat water and provide lights. The Lodge had placed below the outdoor terrace a number of small concrete ponds that atttracted a large variety of birds as well as mongoose. With one of our guide I was able to bird for
a couple of hours enjoying the coming and goinds of sunbirds, canaries, doves, a kingfisher and many more. After dinner the security people took you to your room--sometimes a Masai with his spear or a person with a little bow and arrow. The nights were filled with animal sounds and it was great to awake in the morning to a number of birds singing and calling in the trees outside your room.
Excellent access from the lodge to Tarangire National Park and the hundred of animals we saw on
game drives in the park.

This lodge and area were great, especially for elephant viewing. While there, I received a massage from Jackie. She did a great job. I requested deep tissue, and she was able to provide the same level of relief I receive from my masseuse back home. It was a welcome relief after a day of game viewing.
Thank you Jackie!

We have been to several tented Lodges trough our Tanzania trip and this one of the better ones. There is a nice open common space and friendly and attentive service

We were put in a room in the second row only. Which is rather a solid building as we were used to tented rooms. Amenities were quite good, missing a bit of personal style.

The food is served buffet style and this has been one of the best throughout our journey. They serve also not only "western" dishes. So half of the buffet is always lokal dishes. Personally I prefer that concept as rather than a badly imitated western dish e.g. Pizza & Pasta

only one serious down point: the location. even if you have a nice view of Burunge lake it is a 45min drive to the entrance to Tarangire National Park and from the main road it takes you 15min trough over bumpy road

resume: Despite the current rating (no. 15 of 18) it is quite nice and reasonable

I, too, was on an OAT trip and found this to be a very nice place to stay. I found the "tents" charming and liked that they had a real door so we didn't have to fight with a zipper. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom very functional. It was the only place we stayed that had room for both our bags on the luggage area in the bathroom. We did two afternoon walks here. The first was down to the lake and that was beautiful and we saw a zebra in the bush not 30 yds from us...very exciting. I didn't go on the second day's walk (I was nursing a cold) but people did climb a hill. I found the food to be very good although it tended to get cold quickly because it was chilly out on the deck at breakfast and dinner. The setting of the camp is just beautiful and the night sounds of the animals and birds add to the charm and let you know you are someplace different! The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We did have to pay our bill in cash.
