“Our special place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014 via mobile

The food here is really great. We were in Italy last year, and Sal's dishes are a match for anything that we had there. Recently we arrived at the wrong time, due to a misunderstanding but Debbie quickly shuffled things around to make sure that our special celebration evening went ahead as planned, despite a very full restaurant. With that in mind, they don't take reservations, and get very busy, so call ahead well before the time that you plan to get there to make sure that you get seated.

“Best Authentic Italian in Greensboro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

Unfortunately, Greensboro has very few options in the Italian Restaurant category but I believe this to be the best in town. My wife and I dine at Salvino's almost weekly and have yet to have a bad meal. The chef/owner Sal is a master at blending flavors and can really create some amazing dishes; I'm confident that you can try anything on the menu and come away dazzled. The ambiance and atmosphere of this place is fantastic; one reviewer compared it to Cheers and I think that is a fair description, especially if seated in the bar areas. The servers have all been with Salvinos for awhile and know the menu and are treated like family by Sal and his wife. I think the prices are fair considering how good and consistent everything always is. My wife and I usually each get an entree (comes with a tasty salad or an awesome pasta fagioli), 2-4 glasses of wine (or a bottle), split a dessert with two cappucinos and walk away for under $100. I think that's a reasonable price to pay for an outstanding meal and evening dining experience. Cut out the wine, dessert, and fancy coffee and two could dine for under $60. Two things to remember: Salvino's is closed on Sunday and Monday, and they do not take reservations. However if you go before 7 pm you should have little trouble getting seated promptly. And, if you have to wait I'd suggest hanging in the bar as the "people watching" can be a very entertaining as well. :)

“Excellent authentic Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

Sal cooks the absolute best scallops on the planet, and that's no exaggeration. I've been all over the Western Hemisphere and haven't had scallops like his anywhere. All of his dishes are superbly crafted and seem to be as authentic as possible. The staff is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is very intimate. We're never disappointed when we go to Sal's.

“Buyer Beware!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

We brought our own bottle of wine to dinner and checked the price of the corkage fee on the website beforehand. It was $15.00 and the waitress confirmed it before we ordered. When the bill came, the charge was $20.00. The waitress claimed that the price increased on Jan. 1. We had to argue with the waitress that the website and her both said it was $15.00. After she conferred with management, they changed it. It should have never happened and we felt they were trying to pad the bill. I ordered a veal dish that the menu stated had proscuitto when, in fact, it was deli sliced ham. At $24.00 for the entree, you should get what you order and not bait and switch the customer.

“Always excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

We dine at Salvino's frequently. The menu here is varied and well thought out. The food is consistently well prepares and presented. Service is friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The wine list is adequate and reasonably priced. The bar is well stocked with good brands.
