“Great burger and dog joint; shop wisely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Five Guys has the art of the hamburger (made from scratch, with your choice of up to about 17 toppings, free of extra charge) down to a science. Their all beef hotdog is very good as well. Service is well-trained, prompt and knowledgeable; food is cooked perfectly. Suggestions: 1. get the small burger, which is about $4.50; add 10-12 toppings to it, which are generous and high quality, and you have a big meal; there is still about 4 ounces of meat in the small burger . 2. the free salted peanuts in the shell, made especially for Five Guys, are very good; you can forego the fries and eat the peanuts. 3. the fries are quite good and the portions generous; unless you have a huge appetite, two can split a small order. 4. the bottomless drink machine has a very nice selection of soft drinks, including for example, Barq's (caffeine-free) root beer. The facility is clean and has a nice friendly casual feel. No waiter, so no tip, unless you want to put a buck or two in the jar at the counter.

I am glad that this chain is in Greensboro. It started out in airports in the northeast 10-15 years ago, as a family venture - a father and sons. The quality of the food is on par with Cook Out, a drive-thru family chain started in Greensboro 20-30 years ago which also does a great job.

“Well-made, Customized Burgers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

This is a great place to go if you can afford it. I think the burgers are made there (not prepackaged), and they'll add whatever toppings and condiments you want, including grilled items. They are more than generous with their french fries, which are made to spill out of the container and into your paper bag as well. So you can often feed more people than you expected with one order of fries, any size.

The burgers are mouth-watering good, and you hate when it's all gone. The fries used to be scrumptious, too, but not lately. The last several years they have been soggy instead of crisp. I only love fries that are crisp. So having extra in my case isn't that great.

Prices are very high due, of course, to the personalized and high-quality of foods. This is not your fast food burger, which has little semblance to the real thing. So if you are like me, you can only go on special occasions. Since we don't eat fast food, we do save money eventually to splurge.

The atmosphere is sort of 1950s diner with red and white colors. Peanuts are free. You can eat them while you wait for your customized burger. You can see the preparers in the back as they make them. It is all open to view.

I love Five Guys, but I wish they'd cook their fries to crispiness.

“I love 5 Guys Burgers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Nothing out of the ordinary from other 5 Guys, but this place does a good job keeping the line moving and making sure everything is clean. I love their burgers. My only complaint with them is not having a smaller single-serving size French fry available.
