On December 16th my husband and I visited the Sciquarium. I noticed immediately upon purchase of admission a note in the window advising some of their exhibits were closed due to changes being made -no big deal, althought the price for admission was still as normal.
The first thing I noticed upon entrance was the strong smell of fish, which the aquarium location is right at the entrance door. The first aquarium exhibit was empty, the next few were ok, but I noticed the water seemed mirky, didn't seem that fresh. However, considering this is an inland aquarium, small as it may be it did have a few things that I felt would interest children that hadn't experienced an aquarium before.
Then we proceeded to wander through the area, and I was looking at my map for the next place to go when we were meet by one of the staff who quickly said - you go that way - and it closes at 4pm. That way was to the outside animal zoo.
It was a brisk evening, and there again some of the exhibits were empty. But I will reinterate that children who may have never experienced a zoo would enjoy the few animals they would see. And I did enjoy seeing the ant eater - one of the largest I have seen.
All in all, if I had never been to another aquarium or zoo I probably would have enjoyed it better, but having been to others just this year, this one is very small in comparison, althought it does appear they are attempting to make it very nice.
One thing I do wish they had done was some decorating for Christmas in the zoo area along the fences.
