I haven't had a good rest in a while, so I decided to jump on the web in search of a tranquil haven with different to offer. I found !Khwa Ttu as a result! A San cultural centre with a rich history of the San people.
Khwa Ttu is located on the scenic R27, on your way to Yzerfontein. Less than an hour's drive from Cape Town. This is a one of kind experience, fit for a family, a group of friends or a couple.
The staff at Khwa Ttu is professional, friendly and very accommodating. Khwa Ttu is suitable for a day visit or an overnight stay. The day visit offers you San-guided tours that start you off with an informative and stimulating photo exhibition, a fun tractor ride and an on foot walk to a mock San village. Every bit of this experience was enhanced by the friendly and very knowledgeable guides.
Staying overnight was terrific and I highly recommend this! As our visit to Khwa Ttu was during the chilly winter, our choice was the Guesthouse. A quaint house situated on the highest point of Khwa Ttu with exceptional views all around. The house has a cozy kitchen/lounge, two fire places, two bathrooms and three bedrooms. An absolutely cherry on the cake is under floor heating for icy winter days. The facilities are of a good standard. Resident Zebra’s, Eland and Springboks roam free. It feels like you are truly one with nature and animal. You also have a choice of staying in tented camps, a bush cottage or a true bushman bush village camp.
Besides the spectacular San people, views and fynbos land, another highlight is the fine dining. A fresh menu is posted daily. Try the Springbok shanks! A culinary delight! The restaurant is cozy and intimate with a fireplace. Creativity pulls through from the dishes served to the wine list on wine bottles and chalkboards.
Every minute at Khwa Ttu was a reason to return for another visit. For excellence and education all rolled up into a midweek or weekend breakaway, this is a place that has all you need. This break was revitalizing and uplifting. The San people gives you an unforgettable experience and memories to last a lifetime.
