“Very Clean safe and great rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

I stayed here with our children 7 , 11 & 2 and my partner from UK. The hotel was well presented and the our rooms were spotless. We were half board and the food was nice, plenty of selection. The pool area was nice and not too busy. I have been to Ugandan hotels several other times but this hotel/motel for the first time was excellent, very safe and very quiet to relax and so would recommend going there for a holiday time . Overall tho I had a good time as usual and this hotel was the best id stayed at, especially for cleanliness.
Excellent hotel and a professional team! The rooms are spacious and clean, we had a huge balcony on the top floor, just above the African sky!) Food delicious, service in the restaurant is excellent. The room we had was overlooking the pool, double bed. I'd upgraded this place to 5 star hotel.
We will add you as a friend)) We recommend the hotel to friends. Thanks for a great holiday! Uganda a wonderful country!
All staff was very friendly and kind. Will definitely come back! Thank you!

Room Tip: The room we had was overlooking the pool or the palace view with a double bed. I absolutely loved it...

Just come back from a weekend there. We felt at $90 for double room including breakfast, the room was very overpriced. The bed sheets and towels felt wet and I am covered in itchy spots presumably from bed bugs. The shower was luke warm. On the plus side the breakfast was excellent. The staff also insisted that we paid in $US, luckily we had some on us!
I wouldn't recommend it

The service is impeccable, so kind and served always with a smile.
The rooms were pretty clean & comfortable. We liked the colonial touch of deco that they exhibit.
So friendly and welcoming team.
I loved everything they proposed... mostly the comfort & cleanliness.
Was real paradise while enjjoying them breezes from the mountain.
WHAT A GREAT UNFORGETABLE MOMENT WE HAD.

Fort Motel was truly excellent.

Due to travelling commitments we only stayed for two nights. However, we were very impressed with the Fort Motel.

The rooms were particularly attractive and comfortable and the blackout curtains were very effective and enabled us to have a lie-in. We requested a basic room with an en-suite shower. Some of the other rooms were luxurious and had features such as roll-topbaths.

The restaurant area is small but the food was to a high standard and had many unusual and individual touches. It was a pleasure to eat-in at the restaurant.

The garden is pristine and has views over Fort Portal.

The owner and staff are very welcoming and freindly

Fort Motel is a converted private home in Fort Portal, Uganda. Fort Portal is set in the Rwenzori mountains, and is conveniently within easy driving distance of Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison National Park. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The hotel has a generator so that the guest is protected from local brownouts. The hotel has a small dining room/bar and a pleasant outside garden seating area. It is conveniently located less than a quarter mile from the center of town and adjacent to the Toro Golf Course. Rooms are priced between $40 and $100 dollars and include breakfast. The hotel also features a set dinner menu with a choice of main courses and dessert at a fixed price. I found the management and staff to be very attentive, courteous and pleasant to deal with.

  • Liked — Great view, quiet surroundings
  • Disliked — No extra toiletries in bathroom
