“beautiful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

I was here recently with a friend, and thoroughly enjoyed the place - it was hard to leave. We managed with minimal french, as the Director was very helpful in managing our transfer from Marrakech and to the airport. Despite some reviews, personally we felt the food was very good, although not quite priced to moroccan standard. In any case, the food and wine was of good quality and the staff were very helpful and lovely. Being an animal person, I also enjoyed the company of the hotel's cat and its kitten which helped made the place homely. The views - stunning. I stayed out every night to look at the clear starry nights and the beautiful views while enjoying a glass of wine. The pools are well kept and also very nice to hang out the whole day at. We didn't do much outside the hotel apart from some random straying, but have met other guests who filled their days exploring the beautiful, quiet surroundings quadbiking, paragliding, hillwalking and horseriding.
The only thing I guess - is that we had a room where the bathroom/toilet was doorless...I came across this in Nice, France before so I wondered if this was a french thing.
Apart from that, I would definitely come back!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a door to its bathroom - I regretted not mentioning this!

I had a pleasant stay, beautiful scenery, nice pool and a quite place but the food is too expensive and not that good. I would rather go the village than eat there. Except the food, I recommend this place for a comfy w-e where you can tan and escape the city noise

We have been there for 4 days, very quiet area, perfect for relaxion and Christian (Manager) take care about his guests.Wonderful view at the mountanins, very wormly welcome, extrem nice maroccain food. You have to try the Tajine poulet! Very good service and a very nice room. Also good variation of vine. Only one thing is to point out - if there are many guests, the service for breakfast will be limited. Nothing the despite we will plan to visit the Le Flouka again!

Absolutely amazing place to stay only a short way from the buzzzz of Marrakech. Splendid view of the lac and the Atlas mountains right in front of your bedroom! and even if the bedroom is a little "simple", the access to the swimming pools and the great restaurant will make you forget about this little detail and the manager Christian, a smart relax style French guy will do everything to make your stay confortable and easy. The food was great so we recommend to get the half board and lunches were as great with a superb setting. We will go back for sure! Thanks Christian

Room Tip: Better to have a car, but taxis can be organized with no problem. also, they do have great family ro...

Went for a week.....stayed in the tents. 2 swimming pools, great view totally remote and superb service from the hosts. View of the Atlas mountains. Dinner was superb, fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables. Recommended for a special retreat!

I have to say the manager, Christian, made a great effort with us and had been very helpful in his email correspondence but if he was not around it was genuinely a nightmare trying to communicate with anybody. Now it's not like I don't speak a word of French, I have a basic grasp and can get by with simple conversational French, it stood me in good stead for a lot of the holiday in Morocco as most people speak French before English but despite this there was one member of staff in particular who was rude, arrogant and offish simply because I didn't speak French. I didn't expect him to speak English but instead of finding some sort of common ground he just regarded us haughtily and kept speaking in speedy and complicated French. One of the downsides of this was when we were checking out; Christian had told me the room would cost 55 euros so we had brought a selection of euros, we ended up eating more than we had planned to (as the food is very good here) so asked if we could pay for food and drink in dirhams and the room in euros, this seemed to set the staff off in a flurry of impatient sighing and surly looks and after he'd disappeared for about 10 minutes to work it all out (?....never mind rolling his eyes at my French, his maths needed some work) he came back and charged us 60 euros for the room and the rest in dirhams, by this point we were too worn down to fight it over 5 euros but the language barrier meant we got slightly over charged and left in a bad mood. I think it's a frequent stop for touring parties who want a nice meal, when we were there about 30 French tourists turned up and had a meal, as I said the food was great but this did lend an odd feel to the stay. We stayed in the Pacha tent which was nice, basic and simple (but then it is a tent) with no complaints. If you don't like bugs this isn't the place for you, there are a lot of creepy crawlies. The setting is gorgeous, nice grounds and a lovely position next to the lake, it's particularly lovely at night, make sure you take a torch to get around at night. And a final warning, the pool is very cold, great in the sweltering heat but being near a lake it was not exactly baking hot. I really can't fault Christian, he is an excellent manager but if he's not around (and he can't be around 24/7) this really can be a struggle for people who don't speak French.

Room Tip: Pacha tent had a really bad bed that I kept rolling into the middle of, slept terribly here and left...

Le Flouka Auberge was a lovely spot to relax by the lake with the Atlas Mountains as a stunning back drop. As a family of 4 , owner Jean Charles advised us to take the appartment which gave us 2 bedrooms with one of the swimming pools right outside. There's a second pool or the lake too. The excellent English speaking manager, Christian made us feel completely welcome from the moment we arrived. He organised trips for the boys 17 and 15 to go quad and mountain biking. Good Wifi connections were an added bonus. The food was great - we took full-board.
